Task management rescued me

Pros

What I appreciate most about Asana is its task management which rescued me when as a '1-10 person I was juggling responsibilities and needed to keep everything organized.

Cons

What I like least about Asana is the subscription model since I always hunt for free tools but whenever possible I still test paid apps because I don't mind paying if they deliver value, I tried Asana and it proved worthwhile. I do wish, However that there were student pricing or some discount available, given that I'm both working and currently a student myself in my situation too.

inflexible support

Pros

From my standpoint, the project management capabilities match what I'd expect from a standard PM solution in the market, providing the common feature set you'd typically imagine any average tool would include.

Cons

I've found that their customer support and billing rules are inflexible and old-fashioned, prioritizing the company's interests while leaving me, the customer, feeling entirely neglected.

Excellent collaboration platform

Pros

I've found Asana to be an excellent collaboration platform that helps our team bring together people across every department, enabling cross-functional work and reducing the friction that used to slow our project communications. It provides a powerful set of project-management capabilities that allow us to organize and strategically plan our work which has helped us organize and prioritize individual tasks more consistently. On top of that, Asana's dashboards, analytics and reporting tools give me a clear, at-a-glance view of current statuses and overall progress across initiatives making follow-ups and progress tracking much easier.

Cons

After using Asana for a while, I genuinely haven't identified any significant gaps or features that fail to meet our needs so there really isn't anything I would list as a dislike, nothing has stood out to me as problematic.

Flexible for any group

Pros

Working with Asana, my team and I find it flexible enough to adapt to nearly any group and virtually any kind of task we tackle and we appreciate how configurable it is for tracking the broad variety of projects we manage.

Cons

I do find that keeping every project and task current requires manually updating items which can pull a significant chunk of time away from the hands-on work the team should be doing.

Go-to for project handling

Pros

Right now Asana feels like the go-to software for handling projects and tasks which is exactly why I'm such a fan of the platform, its tools consistently produce satisfying outcomes whenever I'm managing projects. For me Asana serves as a hub where ideas are shared and turned into action and I particularly appreciate that it enables me to work from home with ease.

Cons

I personally haven't run into any issues with Asana and to be honest it seems like any criticism probably stems from other people being envious of how effectively the platform works since I've seen it perform almost like a little miracle for my workflow.

Lets everyone see tasks

Pros

For my company, this platform lets everyone see and keep up with the many tasks we juggle and it helps ensure tasks are followed through and closed on time so I consider it a thoughtfully built project management tool.

Cons

I often find Asana's interface somewhat awkward when I'm trying to figure out where projects or teams are located and as a consequence it requires a fair amount of time and repeated use before I feel truly comfortable navigating it.

Transforms complex projects

Pros

I've found Asana transforms complex projects into much more manageable pieces by organizing tasks clearly and keeping everything visible which makes it a lot easier for me to stay on top of things and actually focus on the work needing attention.

Cons

There are so many features crammed into Asana that I occasionally feel overwhelmed and with notifications arriving so frequently it can become distracting and, at times, a bit too much for me to handle.

Super easy to pick up with fair cost

Pros

Asana has become something I genuinely enjoy using, it's been super easy to pick up, the dashboard is full of useful features that help me keep things on track and the cost feels fair.

Cons

I can't point to any negatives, Asana has been running smoothly for us since day one and we've not run into any problems that affect how we get our work done.

Great team collaboration and reporting functions

Pros

From my experience, the team collaboration tools, paired with powerful reporting features, consistently help me showcase our progress and achievements.

Cons

I find onboarding across different teams particularly challenging because we have trouble training new colleagues and integrating them into our project's taxonomy.

Simple with wide free customizations

Pros

I found it really simple to use and even when sticking with the free tier I was able to make a fairly wide range of customizations to the product.

Cons

While the app comes packed with an enormous number of features, many of them I personally never ended up using which I don't see as a flaw in the software itself.

Incredibly simple for task organization

Pros

I've found it incredibly simple to create new tasks, drag them into different spots, mark them as finished and designate teammates to specific items which makes organizing work feel effortless.

Cons

Occasionally I've noticed it's a bit buggy, I struggle with recurring tasks because sometimes they're hard to set up or they end up repeating far too often.

fees climbed too high

Pros

I no longer find that the product meets my needs and the single star reflects that I've stopped using the platform, yet when the tool matched my previous role's requirements, I found its integrations to work well and be reliable.

Cons

When I moved into a different role, the platform failed to evolve with my changing professional needs and on top of that I noticed the subscription fees kept climbing to levels higher than comparable services which pushed me away.

Structures projects into goals

Pros

For my work, Asana stands out because it's built so I can structure projects into smaller goals which then map up to broader company objectives and strategic initiatives.

Cons

Honestly getting folks to adopt it properly remains a constant headache for me although I appreciated that they ran a promotion handing out free certification something I wish they'd do more frequently because, between meetings and deadlines, I don't believe my team ever had the bandwidth to take it up.

Simple and effective for mapping projects

Pros

Using it, my team quickly came on board because the interface is simple and I find it an uncomplicated yet effective way to map out projects that include numerous tasks and interdependencies.

Cons

I don't really have many complaints but I notice we rarely touch a lot of the advanced features they provide and it would be helpful if there were a pricing plan tiered by feature set so I could reduce our costs.

Great for medium-sized company

Pros

When I'm using Asana for a medium-sized company, I find it does the job well, offering many of the advanced functions you'd expect from pricier tools while still feeling simple and comfortable to navigate.

Cons

However I've noticed that a lot of useful capabilities are gated behind higher-tier plans and crucially the AI features aren't part of the free tier which limits what I can do without upgrading.

Packed with useful features

Pros

What I appreciate is that it comes packed with features that let me set up different types of tasks for various groups and I also find the notification panel simple and easy to scan.

Cons

In my opinion, I wish the layout across pages were more visually friendly and structured better because right now it feels a bit cluttered and could benefit from clearer organization.

Lively customizable interface

Pros

I've found the interface to be incredibly lively and highly customizable for managing projects and the tagging system works well enough for coordinating a small team's collaboration.

Cons

In my experience not many of the companies or clients I work with adopt it since they usually default to using Microsoft Teams or Slack instead.

Great task automation

Pros

Using Asana, I set up simple triggers that automatically assign tasks and establish due dates which eliminated a huge chunk of manual updates, this automation helped our team actually move projects forward and remain consistent even when timelines shifted rapidly.

Cons

Occasionally when I've completed a recurring task well before its scheduled due date, the item behaves oddly by shifting its schedule or failing to reset properly which forces me to manually fix it to keep things accurate.
