Pretty much everything about it works well. It is flexible, easy to use and consistently reliable.

Cons

Sometimes when I try to perform bulk actions across multiple iterations and workflows, things do not always work the way I expect.

Keeping up with tasks and projects feels much more organized with this software especially because it ties everything back to the company's bigger goals and objectives.

Cons

The design is not quite as polished as some other task management apps but honestly it is still perfectly fine to use.

“Rather lightweight and easy to use once you're used to it

Pros

Shortcut is a light and fast alternative to popular options like Jira. It perfectly meets our needs for tracking product development (although not discovery). Writing stories and attaching information is pretty easy now, and also they seamlessly transform into previews. The reporting function is comprehensive and powerful, although we haven't fully utilized it yet. I also like the integration potential with GitHub through the engineering part, and we are currently exploring its capabilities, which seem promising.

Cons

As a user of shortcut, I find the lack of integrations with other commonly used software by product managers to be a drawback. Specifically, when using productboard for discovery and notion for company-wide documentation, the integrations with shortcut are quite ineffective. We are unable to push a feature from productboard to shortcut as a feature, only as an epic. Additionally, we can't link it to an existing epic. In comparison, the jira integration seems much more powerful, and at times, we wish we were using that instead. For those who are not familiar with shortcut, there is definitely a learning curve due to the amount of information and customization it offers. Although features related to prioritization have been greatly improved with the addition of priority levels, it is still a painstakingly manual process in the kanban view. It would be much more efficient if stories could be auto-sorted by priority levels and then fine-tuned in their relative positions. When there are 20-30 stories in a column, dragging and dropping them in a meaningful way becomes almost impossible. Perhaps it's our fault for not onboarding our developers properly, but they spent a long time looking at "everything" instead of realizing that the most relevant view for them is to go to "Stories" and use a "Space" to filter down to the current iteration and team.

“Shortcut the Jira killer

Pros

I can't tell you enough how easy and user-friendly this software is. It's very quick and easy to set up and understand. Moreover, it is not expensive at all. Also the Shortcut team consistently delivers new and exciting functionality that truly makes a difference in our workflow.

Cons

To be completely honest, I have no complaints about Shortcut. It does its job well, with nice integrations and an easy-to-use interface. There really isn't anything to dislike about it.

This software is highly user-friendly and intuitive. It provides a native experience and allows me to easily build workflows. Also it's convenient and simple to understand.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the story search system.

What impressed me right from the beginning is that getting started with Shortcut was incredibly simple and it did not take long at all to set everything up and understand how it works. It's also very cost effective which makes it even more appealing. Plus the team behind it regularly rolls out new and useful features that genuinely have an impact.

Honestly I can't think of any real downsides. For what it is designed to do, it performs very well. The integrations are great too, also it's simple to use so there really isn't much to dislike.

The reason it felt like the right fit immediately is that getting started with Shortcut Software felt very natural. As it is easy to use, the native experience is nice and building a workflow doesn't take much effort. In short everything about it is user friendly so it's simple to understand and work with day to day.

If you value simplicity and strong integrations, here is my take for this tool. Getting started with this software was pretty easy and it connects really well with other tools. Also it offers a wide range of features, all of them genuinely useful depending on what you want to accomplish.

Well it isn't very user friendly and I still haven't managed to understand certain features that could end up being useful.

It is a project management platform that is quite easy to use especially for agile teams. Also it connects with plenty of third-party tools like Slack and those integrations work reliably and add a lot of value.

No complaints so far. The only thing worth mentioning is that the free plan is fairly limited which is a bit disappointing even if it is not unexpected.

It is a really versatile app that works well for a lot of different needs. Such as we can schedule appointments, handle marketing activities and manage customers all in one place which makes it very useful.

Overall the application works well and fits the needs of both small and larger teams. The feedback data is also secure and it is simple to share it with multiple people.

As a marketer the standout benefit I notice of Shortcut is being able to track the customer journey from end to end which is incredibly useful for improving UX and making sure the overall customer experience stays positive. The visual journey mapping also makes everything much clearer so it is easier to understand myself and explain it to others.

Cons

One downside is that the platform includes so many features that it can feel a bit overwhelming if all you need are the basic tools and functions.

Shortcut has a clean, user friendly interface that makes it simple to get started while still offering plenty of power once you dig in. Plus it covers a lot in one place from project planning and task management to collaboration features and it also connects nicely with other tools like Slack.

The biggest downside as per me is the per-user pricing which can feel a little high if you need the full set of features.

Pricing is the biggest challenge here in Brazil. The full version is too expensive for me to afford even though I understand that the free plan limits features that would be very useful. So a pricing model adjusted for exchange rates like some international companies offer, would make it much easier to adopt here. For example for a team of 7, the cost would be $84.00 which is close to R$500.00 locally. That is nearly the same as a month of groceries for a family of two. Also it would be really helpful to have the option to change the team Shortcut URL. When I created the account, I didn't realize the company name would become part of the URL and now it is very long and awkward to share.

Pros

When a single task starts collecting too many related topics or stories, it is pretty convenient to split it into a separate epic. That makes everything much easier to organize and manage.

Cons

The reporting side is harder to work with especially when trying to view milestones and track each team member's epic or story completion. It is also not very clear when comparing planned start and end dates against actual completion dates. On top of that the pricing model feels inefficient as when team members join or leave, any unused seat just turns into wasted money.

Compared with tools like Jira, the interface of it is incredible. The platform is also very easy to use and configure.

Recent interface changes can feel a bit annoying at times but overall I don't have any major complaints.

Editing, tracking and managing projects and tasks in Shortcut Software is not a problem. We also use it to manage our OKRs and it makes it really simple to link day to day tasks with bigger strategic goals.

Cons

The dashboard can feel pretty complex. I understand that's because it has lots of options and possibilities but I personally prefer something simpler, more direct and with more ready made setups.

“Has a powerful search

Pros

There are lots of user friendly features available but the nice part is you do not have to use every one of them. You can stick to just what you need and keep the setup simple. The search and filtering tools are also very strong and work really well.

Cons

Deleting a workflow once it already has linked stories and other references is not very easy and it ends up requiring you to jump back and forth between different screens.

“task tracking that keeps me moving

Pros

Using this software has made development feel more enjoyable and a lot less stressful because it comes with plenty of useful features. That matters a lot when you are focused on building a product and do not want distractions from other things. The task tracking feature is especially a highlight for me and being able to create sub tasks inside a task is fantastic since it helps split work into smaller, simpler steps. Plus the features are user friendly too so it doesn't take much effort to understand how to use them.

Cons

At this point I really haven't run into anything frustrating or that I would call a downside. If anything does come up, I get the sense that the team would be open to hearing feedback.

Epics, milestones, projects, tags, workflows and reports are all excellent. And overall the platform is user friendly which makes it simple to understand and use. Updates also arrive regularly and usually bring valuable new features and improvements.

Cons

Since my team does not have a technology background some features do not really make sense for us. Another challenge is the language as my team speaks Portuguese so that can sometimes make things harder. Also losing the interaction history on stories forces my team to rely on tags to identify sprints.

Able to send task requests to the software team through the platform is really helpful and I always have a clear idea of when to expect the outcome.

Cons

The downside is that the notifications come through email and sometimes they end up looking like spam.

As per me the roadmap feature still feels a bit limited and is not as advanced as I'd want it to be.

Switching over was pretty painless because the platform is simple to learn and navigate so the team was able to get started without much delay. Also the dark mode is a nice touch and the color coding for story types like bugs, features and chores makes it easy to understand everything at once. Creating sprints is pretty simple too and the story point summaries are also very helpful.

Cons

Stories can only be written in markdown. That has not been a huge problem since I have gotten comfortable with it but having a proper text editor would still be a nice improvement. Another frustration is that if I am creating a story and accidentally click away, I can also lose what I was working on. Plus a draft feature that saves stories automatically from the start would make a big difference.

Using Shortcut has been a pleasure overall and it takes very little effort to add new items or make changes whenever needed. Plus the low barrier to updating things makes the whole workflow feel natural and efficient.

One area that could be improved is the way tasks and epics are prioritized since that process could be more simple.

Shortcut really checks every box for us. It makes teamwork and product management feel much more manageable for the whole team.

From both a usability and technical standpoint, this software has been outstanding. One of the most impressive parts is never having to worry about saving anything manually which makes the whole experience feel very smooth.

Shifting stories across different workflows can be a little annoying at times. It would also be even better if there were an option to use your own prioritization scheme and rank items based on it.

Keeping up with projects and tasks every day has been great and the platform is incredibly user friendly as well. So I would highly recommend it for SaaS development teams and other collaborative groups.

Right away it gives a clear and practical view of everything happening in a project. Creating and organizing tasks is easy too and the option to assign labels, epics, projects and iterations makes it much easier to keep work structured. The board filters are especially helpful on larger projects since they make it simple to focus on the tasks that matter.

It covers all the core features I expect from a project management tool and also includes plenty of useful extras. So at this point I do not feel that anything important is missing.

I have not run into any real downsides with this solution. The only thing is that you need to spend a little time learning how to use it properly.

We used it to automatically create issue stories whenever a bug was logged in another tool. One thing I really appreciate is the markdown support. A lot of platforms either do not offer it at all or only let you use it through the user interface. But here the markdown support through the API is actually very good which makes it much more useful for our setup.

Cons

The API documentation is pretty confusing and in the newer version, the option to create a project seems to be missing. Setting up a workflow state is also not easy because pulling the needed data through the UI is difficult. So you end up having to rely on an API call which makes the whole process feel more complicated and far less user friendly. The team really needs to do a better job improving the API documentation.
