Documenting with confluence

Pros

Confluence allows my team to document practices in one structured place facilitating easy and secure sharing of information. Its structural framework provides a solid foundation for documentation.

Cons

Clicking on a link in Confluence documents takes you to a new page leaving Confluence. Although a minor inconvenience it would be better if it opened the page in a new tab.

Great for team collaboration and project management

Pros

The ability for all team members to edit projects combined with the team lead/supervisor's capability to monitor the task list from their phone is a feature I liked. Task completion addition or removal and priority setting are all easily manageable.

Cons

An AI subtask creator could be useful.

Collaborate effortlessly

Pros

Confluence streamlines teamwork with its user-friendly design facilitating easy content sharing. The live editing feature is a game-changer for group documentations and the range of plugins allows customization to meet our specific needs.

Cons

For newcomers Confluence can be overwhelming. Navigation becomes tricky with a lot of content and sometimes it slows down during busy periods.

Fairly average docs experience

Pros

While integrating with other Atlassian products Confluence supports collaborative real-time editing and various integrations and plugins. The flexibility extends to setting up UML diagrams and similar features.

Cons

The search function is a significant let-down. In larger companies this becomes crucial and Confluence's search quality was a running joke at my previous company of over 1000 people. Diagramming lacks without plug-ins and choosing which to include can be tricky. Rich document editing can be confusing and surprising in terms of UX. Rearranging pages in the navigation hierarchy via drag and drop is extremely painful. Document templates are somewhat cumbersome to use.
