“Still figuring out the kinks of the applications, there are still a number of things that need to ou
Pros
This is a more interconnected, truer ERP system, definitely an upgrade over our legacy system.
Cons
Some of the screens are not intuitive. For example, only after trial and error was I able to determine the proper order of computing and posting depreciation on the fixed assets module.

“Implementation was difficult. We had a small team with function experience but not implementation
Pros
I find it powerful with good accounting functions. Time and expense work the best. Having it recognized as great government accounting software should make our annual audit go smoother.
Cons
I am not sure about both sides of GL entries. We did not get a broad overview at the beginning, which has led to difficulty in administration. Pools are hard to troubleshoot.

“Better than using quickbooks
Pros
It helps me see expenses more easily.
Cons
Reports are hard for me to sort in Excel. I would like to be able to sort data in Excel easier to use with pivot tables.

“Awful Program
Pros
I would never recommend this system. I would build my own T&E system before investing here.
Cons
It is not user-friendly, it's a very clunky system, and it's not intuitive in the least. I can barely put in my time without messing things up, and trying to adjust time after a period closes is terrible.

“too many steps
Pros
If there is one thing I would like to say I would demand a refund until it became usable for its intended purpose. I am not happy and have nothing positive to say about it for now.
Cons
When selecting print to PDF or a printer only the date shows. The user interface is overly complex and the shortcut buttons are misleading. I also face repeated login issues even when entering valid information.

“Great product overall for government contractors.
Pros
Its heavily integrated. Also it offers many features suitable for government contractors. Companies that focus heavily on projects and reporting will find the system very fitting for their needs.
Cons
The system is very complex and requires a lot of hands-on interaction to master. The integration is great but it comes with a steep learning curve.

“There aren't many good products in the Market, but dealing with Deltek is awful
Pros
Software includes a lot of features that support government accounting. I can enter very detailed levels of project strings, ORG codes and GL Account Codes for every transaction.
Cons
The user interface is poor as it still looks like an old mainframe screen. Although customer support is friendly, its not very helpful. They often push support tickets towards their paid consulting services which makes me feel like they are constantly trying to get more money out of us.

“Total streamlining of the procurement process.
Pros
Deltek Costpoint is a program that is very easy to use and the best part is how customizable each window is. I can move text boxes around to meet my needs and save queries and window setups according to my requirements.
Cons
There are several elements that do not apply to my specific job so those are what I like the least.

“Makes reporting especially easy
Pros
Its easy to use, from data entry to reporting and translating the numbers into easy to read reports is pretty simple too.
Cons
Costpoint system is not fully customized to meet our needs so I have to work around it to accomplish our daily tasks.

“This Software is a must have for any Gov't Contractor that wants to do business in this space
Pros
The application is very powerful and flexible as it allows me to set things up for my business as simply or as complex as needed. Also the option to enter everything just once and capture all the data required for properly allocating Fringe, Overhead, G&A or Material & Handling Cost Pools is essential for preparing DCAA/DCMA compliant invoices, DCAA Disclosure Statements and Incurred Cost Submissions. Each module I add links automatically with the existing accounting data so no extra steps are needed to connect different modules.
Cons
Its not always clear when a patch is needed to update a specific module. I often do not realize an update is required until I encounter an error message. Sometimes, its challenging to update or patch just the problematic application because fixes can affect more than one application.

“Work Smarter not Harder
Pros
The Costpoint enterprise suite provides a complete set of tools that can influence important business decisions in a specific industry. What sets this software apart is the ability to customize it using Extensibility tools.
Cons
Customization is limited unless I have in house experience or am willing to pay for consulting, which is something to consider.

“Costpoint 7 is user friendly
Pros
I find Costpoint 7 very easy to work with and easy to learn. It has helped me boost my productivity.
Cons
Some functions in Costpoint 7 do not always support a steady workflow or do not work at all.

“Has given absolutely no thought to user experience. It is absolutely horrid for the user. It takes hours to put in a simple expense report.
Pros
Software is DCAA compliant and the accounting features work as expected. However, I would not classify it as ERP or say it provides business intelligence.
Cons
The user experience is terrible. The interface is outdated and not user-friendly as it requires 18 clicks to accomplish any task.

“The system is very straight forward and easy to navigate.
Pros
From an HR perspective, I find the system very easy to use and it is well designed. Reporting for mandatory compliance is simple which simplifies our tasks. We started using Talent Management last year for applicant tracking and onboarding. Once we integrate Talent Management with Costpoint it will create efficiencies for both HR and payroll departments.
Cons
Once information is entered and saved in someone' record, it can be difficult to remove that person. There seem to be many hotfixes but they do improve the system over time.

“Use on a daily/weekly basis to track project costs and status. Very valuable.
Pros
I use it daily and weekly to track project costs and status. Its very valuable as it allows me to create weekly reports that provide most of what I need.
Cons
Our implementation feels very clunky. Also it is challenging to get the reports I need easily and it seems to require specialist attention.

“version 7.1.1 Admin disappointed with the constant updates but the end-users like it
Pros
Our end-users generally have no complaints about the software. We use it for everything from purchasing and receiving to HR functions.
Cons
I am not a fan of the new update model introduced with version 7.1.1. It seems there are constant updates now and unlike previous versions where I could install only the updates needed to fix specific issues, I now have to install ALL updates. I understand they are trying to avoid major revision upgrades this way but it has significantly increased the load on the IT department for day to day operations.

“Excellent software, needs additional features to improve in different areas, specially reporting.
Pros
Its very user friendly yet well controlled. This software is a fantastic tool for accounting because the systems design aligns with its functionality. Costpoint greatly helps us manage and control costs.
Cons
The reporting could use improvement. While the system offers some basic essential reports, I believe there should be more options and flexibility to help users get the most out of it.

“Costpoint is a very extensive accounting package, with all the modules we need
Pros
Software is easily customizable to meet our needs especially in project management. We also use Cognos reporting, Costpoint Enterprise reporting, and Time & Expense and all these Deltek products integrate seamlessly.
Cons
Some features are a bit non intuitive, even though they are not used often. Proper setup requires expert assistance.

“Customer support has reduced over the years. CP is a stable software but needs periodic fix packs.
Pros
It has many fields and offers flexibility depending on our companys model. While it is widely known, it is not used in all of our international offices.
Cons
Modules do not automatically connect, so I need to run processes to update them. Data entry could also be streamlined in future versions.

“CP is good and user friendly
Pros
Costpoint provides government contractors with unmatched project management, accounting, labor, reporting and compliance features, giving me exactly what I need to boost efficiency and better profitability. It was designed specifically for government contractors and has been widely adopted earning the trust of federal agencies and their auditors.
Cons
The system has bugs and is not very stable. It often takes a long time to get a response from customer service. Field names and connections to other fields are not always clear and it takes years to become fluent in the program.
