collaborative coding done right

Pros

Being able to have multiple people work on the same code at the same time has been the most valuable part for me. I also really appreciate the option to recover parts of the code after something is deleted by mistake.

Cons

I still haven't explored every feature it offers but at this point I haven't come across any real downside to the service.

all-in-one project workflow

Pros

Managing projects with it feels very convenient and it helps keep all creative assets stored in one place. It also makes application development simpler especially when working with continuous integration for the database and social media platforms.

Cons

It's on the expensive side and there are still issues with the customer database.

excellent coding hub

Pros

GitHub really helps programmers and developers get their work done more conveniently. It also supports a wide range of programming languages which makes it useful for all kinds of development projects.

Cons

The part I like least is that its accessibility is controlled by a single company. That can become a serious issue for teams relying on source code that could suddenly become unavailable for political or technical reasons.

rock-impressive workflow

Pros

After more than 10 years of using it for both private and public repositories, I still think it's an awesome tool. I've tried other alternatives but this one stands out because it's so simple to use. Pull requests and commenting are features I genuinely couldn't work without. Years ago, outages happened from time to time although it was usually easy to check when they did. That said over the past few years I haven't experienced a single outage. Reliability like that feels essential for software development. I also really enjoy the overall workflow since it can be adapted to fit your pipeline and your organization's development process. It's one of those platforms that follows your lead instead of forcing you into its own way of working. We've integrated it with both TeamCity and Azure Pipelines and both have been very positive experiences with GitHub.

Cons

One thing I'd still like to see improved is how review-related PRs are surfaced. It should be just as simple to find PRs assigned to me as it is to find PRs where I've been marked as a reviewer.

Good themes

Pros

It's been useful to me in several ways. I use it as a code formatter and it also lets me work with multiple text patterns at once which saves me from the tedious job of repeating the same edits over and over. Also, it comes with plenty of themes so I can pick what matches my preferences.

Cons

Keyboard shortcuts felt off to me. They aren't as standardized as the ones in most other text editors and IDEs so they take a bit of getting used to.

Simple for teams

Pros

Version control is the core feature we rely on even at a very basic level especially when creating pull requests so developers can regularly review the codebase. It works really well for continuous integration and continuous delivery making it easier to merge code and push it into production. The platform is very simple to use and navigate even without prior experience. Also, the support team is excellent and quick to help resolve issues whenever they come up. It's also widely adopted by large enterprise companies for managing codebases which adds a lot of confidence in the tool.

Cons

Sometimes it feels overwhelming because it offers so many options and capabilities.

clean version control experience

Pros

Coming into this as my first code management tool, the transition was pretty comfortable because the rest of the development team had already been using it for years and could guide me when needed. The UX/UI is really well done and the management process feels simple which makes it simple to keep code versions organized and up to date. Updating directly from development tools is also convenient. It works well for beginners too especially since there are plenty of online resources available to help you learn it.

Cons

I don't really have any complaints. I later used GitLab on a different project and the two felt very similar so picking it up was just as simple. To me, both are strong choices for managing software versions.

our team's go-to code hub

Pros

It serves as the central source of truth for all the software across our organization and bringing people onto it is very simple since most developers already know their way around the platform.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints at this point, they keep improving it and rolling out new features. The only slightly ironic thing is that the world's biggest open source hub is itself closed source but that's about it.

packed with solutions

Pros

There's a lot built into this software and it seems to have an answer for almost every need. It's very accessible to use and it also gives us a chance to connect with a community where nearly any issue can be resolved quickly without wasting much time.

Cons

If you're just starting out, it does take a little time to understand how everything works.

free collaboration with ci

Pros

Having a free tool makes a huge difference and that matters a lot. It lets me share my product with people around the world, everyone can contribute and I can also set up continuous integration for my project without much trouble.

Cons

I honestly don't have any complaints. This application has been really useful for both me and my team and even the bug or issue error notifications are something I appreciate.

Pros

It's a platform where you can share your projects and also build them together with different people. At the same time, it creates a collaborative space for sharing work and developing ideas as a team.

Cons

There isn't anything to dislike about the app. Once people start using it, they'll notice how useful it is and how simple it is to work with.

smooth windows collaboration

Pros

Our team relies on it to work together while building in-house software for Revit and Windows Server to support our company's architectural requirements. We also have an internal team dedicated to handling this work.

Cons

The integrations across Windows desktops and laptops have been very convenient. I can take my code home with me and still access and reflect my work from anywhere.

best place for source code

Pros

Keeping project source code here has been really useful and it supports a wide range of programming languages as well. One of the biggest advantages is being able to clone projects from any terminal and start working with the tool right away.

Cons

A downside is that it can feel a bit confusing for new users, programmers or coders since it is not always clear where everything is which makes it less user-friendly at first. Storage can also become an issue and you have to pay for more of it.

clear commit tracking and navigation

Pros

One of the best parts of It is being able to review all previous commits from the developers and DevOps team. It makes tracking source code changes in the repository really simple and the layout is simple enough to follow that even beginners can understand how to navigate it without much trouble.

Cons

I can't think of any downside here. It has made managing projects much more organized and smooth.
