Pros

On real-time projects, it's version control has been incredibly useful because it lets the whole team work together on the same project and even on the same file. The interface and overall experience are designed in a way that removes a lot of the small, tedious tasks so the team can spend more time focused on actual development.

Cons

Although the interface looks modern and responds well, it can still be difficult to learn especially for people who are new to the platform. Because of that, training is really necessary for new users to make full use of it's features.

It can be fairly demanding on resources especially for bigger teams or larger projects so it may need more computing power and storage space.

The downside is that there are free alternatives available that offer almost the same functions.

It includes security and compliance features and that has been a big plus for my team. It gives us the level of control and visibility we need to maintain the security integrity and overall architecture of the software products we build on the platform.

Something that bothers me about it is that the service can have occasional downtime. Unlike some other well-known Git platforms, it also doesn't always give users advance notice before those outages happen. Another downside is the user community which feels smaller and less active compared to competing platforms. Because of that, it can take longer to find answers or work through issues using unofficial resources such as online forums and developer communities.

I love that it has a really polished UX and comes packed with features that competitors like GitHub usually lock behind a paywall. One thing I appreciate a lot as well is how transparent the company is they openly share what they're building, their plans and the roadmap for what's coming next.

Cons

Because the product is so strong even in the free tier, you start to notice some gaps between the free plan, paid plan, self-hosted version and paid self-hosted version. Features also roll out at different times depending on the license so it's possible to miss out on something useful unless you move to a better tier.

As a budget-friendly option it works really well for new users, freshers and students who can't afford other tool versions. The interface and overall user experience make it easier to stay focused on development instead of getting distracted by small details. I've used other git repository platforms like Bitbucket and GitHub but it stands out the most to me because it doesn't impose a commit size limit. It lets us store code in repositories, build a lifecycle for code deployment and since it's open-source and free, it becomes an even more practical choice.

Cons

The import and export process feels more restrictive and harder to handle compared with other systems. There have also been times when their service was down which is something I personally haven't experienced with GitHub. Another thing that should be improved is the merge request setting because the delete branch option really ought to be unchecked by default.

Flexibility is one of its biggest advantages. You can choose the Cloud version or set up your own infrastructure and compared with GitHub doing that feels much less complicated. The Pipelines are also more polished than GitHub Actions especially lately when GitHub Actions has been having major issues. Another plus is that Pipelines make it simple to reuse CI code. On top of that, there's a Community edition available and High Availability is an important feature worth considering.

Still it supports many third-party integrations it still misses a dedicated Marketplace like the one GitHub offers.

Right from the beginning of my professional career it has been one of those essential tools I've always had to use. It's genuinely impressive how well maintained, feature-rich and thoughtfully designed it is. You can really tell the open-source philosophy plays a big part in making it a perfect project management platform

I really don't have anything to criticize about it. I've only used it as a regular user and everything has consistently worked perfectly for me. I'm sure a lot of that comes down to the maintainers making smart decisions especially about when to roll out deployment updates.

Having branch and merge support built in was a big plus especially since it can be handled directly from the UI without needing to use Git commands. The same goes for activity management and assigning tasks to each developer on the team which is really useful. The interface is also fairly user-friendly overall.

Despite the fact that interface is fairly user-friendly, people using the software for the first time may still have some trouble finding their way around the different features available.

It has been a good option for us because it's very efficient and comes with a wide range of features especially stronger configuration control and better security oversight.

Pricing can be something to think about as a downside especially for smaller teams or projects that aren't generating revenue.

Keeping track of one or several projects is very practical and making updates along the way works well. One of it's biggest advantages is being able to customize each participant's access rights. It delivers strong performance when it comes to collaboration, sharing and modifying data.

You do need some basic knowledge before you can really work comfortably with the platform's tools especially when it comes to using Git itself.
