powerful platform for dev workflows

Pros

One thing that really works well here is the strong integration support with third-party apps. It also feels very secure especially with the option to create private projects and private repositories. For planning and design, it does a good job thanks to plugins like Figma and Sketch. I also appreciate that it covers the full workflow, from code management all the way to deploying artifacts into production. Issue tracking is reliable and the premium UI looks polished too.

Cons

Access management could be better defined because permissions seem to depend mostly on Git repository access. Merge requests are also not very easy to work with. The platform can feel a bit slow at times and the documentation still needs improvement.

centralized project hub

Pros

This tool comes with a wide range of features, including Wiki, code deployment and continuous integration. It works really well as a one-stop platform for both program and project management.

Cons

The storage capabilities in in still need improvement especially with options like archive policies and lifecycle policies similar to what S3 provides.

Ideal for team collaboration

Pros

It has made handling software development much simpler for me. Features like version control, project management and time tracking are really useful and they make it possible even for large teams to collaborate without trouble. Most of the platform is fast and easy to use.

Cons

A few parts of the project management side still feel a bit imperfect especially the issue filters which can get slightly messy at times. For instance, when I set certain filters and copy the URL, opening that same link does not always restore the exact same filter setup. Still, these are just minor bugs and they do not take away from the overall quality of the product.

smooth Git collaboration

Pros

Using it has been easy to manage day to day. Working together through it is really helpful and making commits, as well as pushing and pulling code, is quick and simple.

Cons

Nothing to complain about with this software We don't take advantage of every feature available but the ones we do use perform very well.

clear code comparison view

Pros

How it shows the old code in red and the updated code in green is really helpful. That makes it much simpler to compare changes carefully before merging anything.

Cons

There is not much to complain about with this tool. The only issue I have run into so far was a server outage that lasted around 2 to 3 hours. Other than that, everything has been perfect.

neat branch tracking UI

Pros

It gives a really clear view of all branches and any pending merge requests which makes following the workflow much simpler. Keeping track of changes is easy, comparing code is convenient and managing versions with simple tags works really well. The interface also feels much better and more polished than a lot of competing tools.

Cons

The initial setup can take quite a while especially when you're configuring it together with CI.

helpful workflow and reviews

Pros

The CI/CD pipeline works really well and the code review and approval flow fits naturally into the development process. Having kanban-style task management built in is also a nice bonus because it keeps planning and delivery in one place.

Cons

It does come with a high price tag and a few features have been deprecated sooner than expected.

powerful feature set

Pros

If we look at traditional Git tools, this one feels much more capable in a lot of ways. It comes with a wide range of features that make day-to-day work much more convenient.

Cons

Even though it receives updates regularly, a few parts still feel dated especially task management which can be hard to handle and task classification by more than one parameter.

powerful git hosting and ci/cd

Pros

It has been the best web-based Git repository I've used. The interface is simple, installation is easy and its CI/CD capabilities are the strongest I've seen. I've been using it for a little over a month now and I'm genuinely impressed with it. It's easily my favorite Git hosting platform because it's simple to work with includes built-in commit feature and lets me manage private projects without issue.

Cons

Honestly I haven't come across any downsides with this software.

end-to-end dev workflow

Pros

This works as a complete application development platform, bringing together features like source control, CI/CD and more in one place.

Cons

Not a con but I would say only problem is that if you rely on its DevOps capabilities you can end up becoming dependent on the platform.

full project control with branches

Pros

Across the organization, this has been a very efficient tool for handling multiple projects at once. It makes code maintenance much simpler and creating different branches in the repository helps keep the source code organized without much effort.

Cons

Only thing that slows us down is file comparison because Git also highlights differences caused only by spaces. That becomes time-consuming for developers when they need to identify the actual change especially in large lines of code. File encoding also needs extra attention.

better than jenkins for ci

Pros

Getting CI workflows up and running takes much less effort here than it does with Jenkins. The fact that it's open source is also a big advantage.

Cons

The search and filtering tools could be better. Merge requests are also pretty difficult to handle especially in more complex situations with several people involved, lots of comments and multiple rounds of changes.

Smooth code sharing workflow

Pros

Compared with GitHub it uses a cloning approach to push code into a shared repository. With other tools you need to download and configure it first to mirror the shared location that contains the codebase. Once everything is set up, changes made on a local machine can be uploaded to the shared repository through this tool without much friction.

Cons

Setup can be conceptually challenging. Upload permissions may also fail when the configuration is not set correctly.

simple repository management

Pros

Managing repositories and code on a server feels very easy. The interface is simple and the authentication features work really well. It also offers useful options for user permissions and branch protection.

Cons

Interface can be a little slow sometimes but it's not a major issue.

helpful code checks dashboard

Pros

App's ability to automatically verify code can save developers a lot of time and effort so it's a really useful feature. Another strong point is the insightful dashboard which does a really good job of helping manage the delivery lifecycle.

Cons

A problem with its self-managed installation is that installing it on your own host requires a Linux platform. It does not support Windows Server and since many organizations and users still work mainly on Windows that limitation can be a challenge. Hopefully, Windows platform support will be added in the future.

CI/CD keeps deployments aligned

Pros

CI/CD makes it much simpler to keep your code synced across different environments.

Cons

The pricing is charged per user. If you use integrations like Sentry, the Sentry account is counted as an additional user which means you end up paying for that user too.

gitlab ci/cd shines

Pros

Getting this set up for source code management with it was very easy. The CI/CD integration is probably the feature I enjoy most about using this application.

Cons

Most of the codebases I work on are hosted on GitHub so this is not really a fault of this software but I do not enjoy juggling multiple tools to manage source code.

smoother merge requests and pipelines

Pros

After using Bitbucket this one feels like a better option especially because the merge request interface is more polished and convenient to work with. It also comes with built-in pipelines which is really useful. Being able to manage all our code and deployments from a single tool makes things much more practical.

Cons

It does take a bit of time to get used to the platform and become fully comfortable with it.
