capable self-host platform

Pros

I appreciate how easy it is to self-host this platform. The CI/CD integrations are also well designed and work smoothly making it easier for me to automate development and installation workflows.

Cons

Getting the self-hosted version set up came with a few issues at first but the documentation helped us work through them.

Better scaling for projects

Pros

Compared with GitHub it works in much the same way but it handles scaling a lot better. I really enjoy using it and even though some parts aren't free it still feels like a good option for your next project.

Cons

The part I'm not a fan of is that it isn't fully free. That can be a real deal breaker for some people especially when GitHub is already out there as an alternative.

Polished user interface

Pros

The interface is very polished and setting up an in-house installation is simple as well. It's also a more affordable option.

Cons

Applying updates can be a little tricky at times.

a valuable tool

Pros

This product covers the entire SDLC in one place, from project planning and source control to CI/CD, security and documentation. It offers a well-built pipeline that fits most common use cases right out of the box.

Cons

One minor limitation is the lack of flexibility around permissions. It would be much more useful if custom roles could be created with privilege settings tailored to each organization.

covers everything for us

Pros

Once it's set up, it becomes a must have. It handles versioning and goes well beyond that with commit management plus issue and incident ticketing all in one place. It really covers everything needed.

Cons

The interface in connected mode really feels outdated and from another era.

Automated our workflow

Pros

After more than 6 months of using it the actions have been excellent and have really helped me automate builds and deployments. Authentication was easy and coming from a GitHub background it didn't take me long to get started with it.

Cons

Dashboard isn't very polished. Since I'm used to GitHub, I often find it hard to locate certain features on the pages.

offers fantastic feature for free

Pros

Back when it offered free private repositories that was the reason I started using it. Since GitHub now offers the same, I don't rely on this one as much anymore but it's still a really capable platform. The free tier includes a large enough set of features to cover a lot of needs.

Cons

I just really can't get used to its interface. This is partly personal preference but very little about it feels easy to me. The heavy Cloudflare protection everywhere, along with the color choices and overall design, gives it the feel of an old Microsoft application. On top of that, it's noticeably less popular than GitHub when it comes to open-source projects and overall community activity.

product that stands out

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is the security it provides when saving new project versions, along with the collaborative side of the platform.

Cons

The premium version is expensive and getting comfortable with it can be fairly difficult at first especially considering the wide range of features it offers.

Helpful for coding workflows

Pros

This platform is really useful for dealing with code-related problems and errors and it also makes team discussions around tasks much more manageable. Running and handling CI/CD is very convenient and the environment feels user-friendly overall with plenty of customization options available.

Cons

Getting started can feel a bit complicated if you don't have prior experience. The interface is also somewhat complex so there's definitely room to improve the UI.

Across a tech company, this tool fits really well and brings a lot of value.

Cons

I honestly don't have any real complaints. If anything, the pricing could be a little better.

Pros

Sharing projects and collaborating with others feels really easy which is something I've appreciated a lot.

Cons

Learning this tool is definitely not for everyone because even with the instructions provided, I still needed outside resources to make full use of this tool.

Productive version control collaboration

Pros

Working on projects with a team feels much more organized because it supports collaboration really well through strong version control.

Cons

A downside is that it rolls out interface changes and feature updates quite often.

Loved using it

Pros

The integration between the code repository and pipelines works really well and they can run instantly in their own container with very little effort needed for deployment.

Cons

Sometimes the platform feels packed with too many features which can make things harder to find and navigation a bit confusing.

platform worth using

Pros

Being open source is a big plus and the platform keeps getting better with frequent improvements. It also offers a wide range of features that can fit the needs of all kinds of users.

Cons

User experience still feels a step behind GitHub occasionally. Performance could also be improved in some cases although that may partly depend on how your own server is set up.

a joy to use

Pros

It's biggest advantage is how much it brings together in one place. Rather than depending on several separate tools, we can handle version control, CI/CD, issue tracking, code reviews, security, container registry, monitoring and analytics all within this one tool.

Cons

There isn't really any major downside at the moment although it can feel a bit complex at first because it offers so many features. Once you become familiar with it though, the tools work extremely well.

A practical tool

Pros

It offers us an easy way to handle partial version control and presents information clearly in a teaching context.

Cons

There really was nothing I disliked about it. Of course there are probably a few areas that could be improved over time but I wouldn't say it has any actual bad side.

frustrating updates

Pros

This serves as a suitable replacement of GitHub that can be hosted on our own infrastructure, giving us complete control over our data.

Cons

Version upgrades can be frustrating because the automated steps tend to break with each major release so manual work is usually needed.
