simple to use, support stands out

Pros

It is simple to use without significant changes and their customer support really stands out.

Cons

I am frustrated it's limited to 32-bit systems. I mean almost every new computer is 64-bit so I feel like it should add that compatibility.

Pros

For the most part I can figure it out and use it without trouble and I can also generate the statements I need.

Cons

One thing I wish for is an easier way to remove entries and run repairs when things go wrong.

Really easy to use with clients

Pros

The software is really easy to use once I have my clients details entered and adding new clients is equally simple.

Cons

When I need to revise an invoice for a client because I made a mistake or they requested changes I can't access older invoices beyond the most recent one. This makes correcting or reissuing previous bills difficult and inefficient.

Pros

I am impressed by how many functions it has and the wide range of options available.

Cons

Occasionally the program glitches and freezes and I find that really frustrating.

Values simple billing for small firm

Pros

Running a very small law firm, I really value how simple the billing functions are since I am responsible for entering all of our data.

Cons

It feels like there are far too many features included that I personally never end up using.

easy to use once configured

Pros

Once it is configured, I find it pretty easy to use. I rely on it to record attorney time and expenses and to generate invoices at the end of each month or whenever I need them.

Cons

I struggle to get help when I need it. As the online help resources usually do not answer the specific questions my firm has so they are not very useful.

From my experience the long-term records from when we started have remained consistently reliable.

Cons

unquestionably excellent and fully featured

Pros

Unquestionably it is an excellent tool. As it's a fully featured time and billing software package.

Cons

As a customer for about thirty years, I have watched it evolve. For much of that time, it felt like a great program and excellent value but in the last five years, it's gotten quite costly.

easily enter and save time slips

Pros

I can easily enter a time slip for an activity and save it.

Cons

Adding a new client is not easy as it asks too many questions and won't let me skip fields. Billing and entering payments are confusing too and I have to figure it out again every time. These are poor features. The product has also become too expensive and I am frustrated that you've moved us to a subscription model.

Very functional and easy to navigate

Pros

The software is very functional and pretty easy to navigate. Plus there is no restriction on how many bill images I can reprint.

Cons

However the electronic billing process with LEADS is overly complex and I cannot save a draft of a court bill while preparing it.

Good for reports but freezes often

Pros

Sage Timeslips interface is good for creating and tailoring reports, with a wide array of options available. Fellow attorneys on my team also find it simple to record their own billable time.

Cons

We are stuck on an older build that must be updated via our server so please factor that in. But even before the required update, I notice it tends to freeze or lock up quite often during use.

impressed with legal billing performance

Pros

When it comes to handling legal billing which is really the only feature I use I am genuinely impressed with how well it performs. It did take me some time and a handful of phone calls to locate everything I needed after the last big upgrade but now that I'm comfortable with all of it, everything works great.

Cons

Reprinting a bill once it is already been issued isn't very easy and I found it confusing at first. However after I called support and walked through the steps, I was able to get it printed without further trouble.

setup takes time but then speeds up billing

Pros

Setting up Timeslips takes time, as entering data, learning the interface and customizing it to my needs don't happen overnight. But once everything is configured and I have the templates I need, it speeds up billing and produces very accurate records. I can also save large amounts of information as templates for future use. The customer service and tech support teams usually find workable solutions as they're polite, responsive and I appreciate that they send conversation transcripts afterward. This lets me refer back and make any needed fixes.

Cons

Over the years I've noticed the program has expanded and gotten significantly more complicated and there are parts that are now trickier to navigate and use. Plus I wish the knowledge base were more user-friendly for people like me who aren't into social media or real-time internet chat forums. What would help is a user friendly library of short tutorials focused on basic tasks. Also even though the industry trend pushed this, I really disliked having to switch from owning the software outright to essentially renting it, with hefty yearly fees. For a solo or smaller practitioner this becomes quite costly and the regular updates rarely do much for my workflow. Overall my actual way of using the program hasn't changed much over time even though the software keeps getting more complex.

The interface is user friendly overall and I can easily enter time or expense slips though the reporting area could be better.
