Made my business stress-free

Pros

Running my business on this has given me a level of peace of mind I didn't realize I was missing. I know when we open the doors in the morning that the system isn't going to lag or crash during the rush hour. The security features are so good too. I feel assured that my customer data is protected. I don't have to lie awake worrying about liabilities or chargebacks. Dependability is everything in the hospitality industry and this platform delivers that consistently.

Cons

I'm drawing a blank here. I genuinely don't have any complaints. The system has handled our volume perfectly and we haven't experienced any downtime. I haven't run into a single piece of equipment that gave us trouble during setup or daily use.

exceptional customer support

Pros

Handling sales and invoice processing was so tiresome before I got this program. My process has been made so simple. The interface makes it incredibly easy to generate and send invoices on the spot. Tracking payments is so easy. I can see exactly what's paid and what's pending without digging through spreadsheets. The customer support is off the charts. Their team is so responsive and quick. Whatever it is they'll handle it.

Cons

Literally nothing. I've used this program for a while and I didn't come across a glaring issue.

bad customer service and even worse management

Pros

Nothing good to say. I suppose they taught us a valuable lesson about reading contracts.

Cons

The biggest problem has been customer service and the way management handles things. Or rather doesn't handle them at all. We've been waiting more than a year to get help and now that we've asked to cancel the contract they're keeping us locked into it.

Can't track customer data

Pros

The front-end is great. Navigation is simple and clean. It also provides a wide range of BOH reports. I can pull sales summaries, labor costs and product mix reports without much hassle. For day-to-day operational tracking it gets the job done efficiently.

Cons

So many options for BOH reports but none for specific customer data. I can't track specific customer behavior, purchase history or loyalty trends. If I want to answer a simple question like 'How often does this customer visit?' I have to piece together the information myself.

so many extra functions!

Pros

To me this feels like one of those big old Swiss army knives. Most of the time you may only need the basic tool but it also comes with a lot of extra functions that are there when you need them.

Cons

Because Aloha is such a large established system it tends to move like a slow monolith. New features are added gradually and customization can be limited like how changing button colors on the digital POS screen is only available in certain situations.

broken promises and useless add-ons

Pros

I am extremely disappointed.

Cons

This system never performed the way it was supposed to. The third-party QR codes that you end up paying a lot for still don't work. On top of which management winds up stuck in the office dealing with the system instead of spending time on the floor with guests. The loyalty program is no better either. You can expect basically no support with it.

Service declined over time

Pros

Back when they were a smaller company the service was excellent but as they expanded the level of support gradually got worse.

Cons

The biggest problem they have in my opinion is customer service. They also seem to have lost touch with the needs of my industry.

instant inventory tracking

Pros

This feature makes inventory management much simpler and more practical. We can 86 items directly from the order entry screen with a long-press.

Cons

It's kind of a non-issue but on some occasions the stock update takes far too long to show the inventory changes.

support has no idea what they're doing

Pros

It's fairlysimple to work with the back-of-house side. Beyond that…well, nothing.

Cons

The real problem is the people behind the product. The help desk seems completely unprepared and my managers end up explaining to them how things are supposed to be done.

This is the best decision you'll make

Pros

Honestly it does everything I need and then some. Aloha has always been a favorite of mine because there really isn't anything I feel limited by when using it. If someone doesn't have it because it's out of budget that's understandable. But if it's affordable and you still pass on it you're making a mistake.

Cons

In my opinion the price is definitely high but I think it's worth every bit of it. If I owned a product like this I wouldn't sell it cheaply either. A big part of what you're paying for is the support and even at its cost it delivers far more value than the price. I'd suggest you take a close look at your numbers and figure out how to make it happen.

nice design but limited POS

Pros

The layout and overall look are really nice and it doesn't take long to learn how to use it.

Cons

To start with I was working on an older version. We only used the POS features because the other modules didn't add any value for us. It felt limited and didn't really cover what we needed.

takes a little getting used to

Pros

It performs really well in a restaurant setting plus training staff to use it doesn't take much time.

Cons

Managing the menu can feel a bit tiring at first until you become familiar with how it works.

Real-time reports

Pros

Using this software has been very simple. The connection with online ordering is a big plus and having real-time reports available is something I really appreciate.

Cons

The design could definitely be a bit more modern. It would also help if switching between screens didn't require logging in again.

all-in-one business control

Pros

I love having my point of sale, inventory and the rest of my day-to-day operations all in one platform. Being able to manage so many parts of the business from a single system instead of jumping between different tools is a serious life-saver.

Cons

There is definitely a bit of a learning curve with all the features and updating or changing menu items from the back end feels more involved than it should be. But really its worth it.

custom POS features

Pros

It lets me customize loyalty programs, gift cards and tip tracking in ways that actually fit my restaurant. I'm not stuck with one rigid setup.

Cons

Price updates and button setup take more time than they should and feel more complicated than with newer POS platforms. Customer support also hasn't been very responsive.

Outdated system and messy customer support

Pros

I really enjoyed using it back in the 80s and in some ways it hasn't changed much.

Cons

It's difficult to navigate and nowhere near as user-friendly as a lot of the other systems available today. The whole thing feels clumsy and programming it or entering new information takes way too long. The refresh process makes it worse. It feels outdated overall. Customer service is another headache. There are too many different people and systems involved so when you need help getting a resolution takes far too long.

a bit underdeveloped

Pros

Using the POS side of NCR Silver has been so simple. New staff members usually pick up the categories and screen layout quickly and it makes good use of familiar iPad functions. I find updating products and changing prices to be hassle-free.

Cons

The back-end side of NCR Silver feels underdeveloped. Inventory management is slow and awkward to work through. The email templates and related features seem outdated. It also falls short when it comes to social media integration and simple ecommerce links within emails.

all the convenience of a cloud service

Pros

It runs on iPad and being cloud-based makes it convenient to use. It also doesn't take long to understand how the system works. I love that there are a lot of integrations available.

Cons

I don't think the subscription model may suit everyone. The payment gateway options are not very flexible. It also feels like some features are missing compared with its sister software. Since it is cloud-based I wouldn't really recommend it for a busy environment that needs a lot of POS stations and printers.

Limited mobile functionality

Pros

Aloha is very cut-and-dry which makes training much easier for new employees especially those who have never worked as servers before. The layout uses large block-style buttons so everything is clear, easy to read and quick to tap.

Cons

Mobile app still can't do everything the computer version can. Our servers mostly rely on the mobile apps since they're walking into theater auditoriums to take orders. So that limitation comes up a lot with us. It would be much better if every function was available on both mobile and desktop.

cant review what i cant access

Pros

None since I still haven't been able to actually use it.

Cons

The only thing I was able to notice was the test printouts and the font on them was much too small for my taste. Beyond that I didn't get to see anything else.
