Pros

One of the biggest advantages of PayPal for me is how well it connects with so many different apps and services. I've used it with Uber Eats, Amazon and plenty of other online payment options and it's been efficient and hassle-free each time. Linking it to shopping accounts is usually quick, smooth and works exactly as expected.

Cons

Something that still needs improvement is support for Japanese bank accounts. I haven't been able to link any of mine to withdraw PayPal funds back into them. That said because PayPal works so well for online shopping, this limitation hasn't been a major issue for me.

Pros

After I got scammed and lost money, PayPal stepped in and helped me recover it quickly. That kind of buyer protection made a huge difference.

Having the pre-authorization option really helps when money is tight and you need a little time before covering balances. It's been incredibly valuable.

If there were a way to rate PayPal zero stars, that's exactly what I'd do. The fees are outrageously high and customer service might as well not exist. After more than 10 years of using PayPal, I'm closing my account and have no intention of giving this awful company another cent.

Just recently, I needed to swap the Visa card linked to my PayPal account for a new one and had to get some assistance to make it happen. I went into PayPal's message center and reached out to an online agent. She got back to me within minutes and confirmed that it had already been taken care of. The whole thing was quick and genuinely helpful. On top of that, whenever I'm purchasing something on a site like eBay, paying only takes a couple of minutes because of PayPal's checkout feature. I simply log in and approve the payment instead of wasting time typing in my card information and delivery address every single time.

One thing that could be better is having more flexibility and control over updating card details and other information on my own, without needing to contact customer support.

Being able to move money from PayPal straight to my bank account is the standout feature for me. That transfer option makes managing my funds much more convenient.

One thing I really appreciate about PayPal is how secure it feels especially when dealing with sellers I don't fully trust. The refund process is also a big plus because getting money back from a seller who violates the terms is handled well and gives me peace of mind.

With several credit and debit cards to keep track of, PayPal makes it really convenient to choose which one I want to use for each payment. It also gives me a better sense of control and security when I'm spending and that's a big reason why I prefer using PayPal.

On the downside, customer service has been pretty poor during the pandemic. It feels far too automated which I really don't like when I'm dealing with anything involving my money. Transfers are also quite slow and the currency conversion fees are much higher than they should be.

Linking a bank account is quick and hassle-free and the fact that your banking details are encrypted makes it even more reassuring. Knowing that sensitive information is kept secure gives you added peace of mind. Overall, it's a fantastic service that I'd happily recommend to anyone.

Only a very minor point from my side. As someone who works in User Acceptance Testing, I feel the withdrawal process could be a bit more polished especially for first-time users.

PayPal has built a reputation as one of the most secure online payment and escrow platforms out there and that extra protection really helps when dealing with scammers. It makes it much harder for anyone to get away with stealing your money when PayPal is the payment processor. Another thing I appreciate is how much they support businesses whether through business credit or loan options that can help with growth. The interface is simple to navigate and sending money to people anywhere in the world is fast, reliable and secure. Their customer service has also been good in my experience, with friendly support agents who treat customers well. I also like that they keep adding new features, such as cryptocurrency trading and the option to buy something now and split the payment into four installments is a really useful feature too. There's honestly a lot to like about the platform.

I really do not have any major complaints about PayPal overall. The only issue I have noticed is that they can sometimes be overly strict especially when you make a large transaction which may lead to your account being limited or suspended temporarily. While I understand that this is meant to protect users, the downside is that it can take nearly a week to get the account restored. That is a long delay and it can seriously affect a business.

Setting it up on our WordPress site took very little effort and it made accepting online payments simple. It also helps that PayPal is such a familiar name so customers are comfortable using it and already trust the brand. On top of that, the transaction fees are fairly competitive.

What left me uneasy was the support side of PayPal. Not long ago, they asked for ID information for someone tied to our organisation who had actually left years earlier and their access to our PayPal account had already been removed back then. I was also unhappy with the threatening tone of the messages saying our account would be "limited" if we didn't send the details. It ended up taking quite a bit of effort to convince them that this request wasn't appropriate.

Getting paid and sending money to other people instantly without any fees has been really convenient and I can move the funds to my bank account or card right away.

One frustrating part is how hard it is to qualify for PayPal Credit and I still don't understand why I wasn't approved.

Hands down, the customer service is the best part. PayPal really takes care of its customers and makes you feel supported. Another thing I love is how widely it's accepted online. I honestly haven't come across a business that doesn't take it. Being able to keep several cards saved in one place is also really convenient. On top of that, sending and receiving money through PayPal is super useful. It really brings everything you need together in one spot.

I genuinely haven't run into any downsides with PayPal. It's been a very dependable company and clearly operates in a reliable, well-managed way.

PayPal really stands out to me for how secure it feels when handling money. The PayPal credit card has been excellent for shopping and I also appreciate being able to keep money saved right in the app. Another feature I enjoy is that PayPal now lets you buy cryptocurrency and store it there as well. On top of saving money in my wallet, I can basically go fully cashless with the PayPal Cash Card and it's also useful that you can have both a business PayPal account and a personal one.

Cons

One downside with PayPal is that you can't use the cash already sitting in your PayPal balance to make an extended payment.
