“Extra security layer”

Pros

Using PayPal makes me feel much safer when paying online because I don't have to share my credit card details directly. That extra layer of security is really important to me and gives me more peace of mind.

Cons

One thing that bothers me is how high the fees are for sending and receiving payments. That can be especially tough for startups trying to manage costs.

“instant fund availability”

Pros

One thing that really stands out is how quickly transactions go through. As soon as I send or receive money, it becomes available right away which makes the whole process very convenient.

Cons

My only frustration isn't really with PayPal itself but I do wish more online marketplaces would accept PayPal as a payment option.

“effortless workflow”

Pros

The layout and format is simple so it only takes a couple of steps for me to get things done.

Cons

Sometimes I mixed up sending money to someone with transferring funds to my bank but it's not a major issue. You just need to pay close attention.

“flexible & dependable payments”

Pros

This software is flexible for me. It's multifunctional and I appreciate that I can't lose more than the amount I put in. It works really well as a middleman whether it's for private transactions or payments between different companies.

Cons

Only thing I didn't like is that the personal information requirements can sometimes make the process a bit harder to complete but that's clearly tied to safety so overall everything has been very good.

“Very high security”

Pros

It does a really solid job of protecting user data, using very high encryption standards across the platform. Its servers even check my browser to make sure I'm using up-to-date encryption technology. Because of that even if PayPal's public-facing systems were ever compromised my information still has stronger protection than with a lot of other payment providers. The iPhone and Android apps also make online shopping and money transfers very convenient, no matter where I am. Once the app is installed and I complete the security steps I can send and transfer money, pay bills, review my transaction history and make purchases right from my phone. The app also uses a PIN and/or fingerprint login which makes sending and receiving money feel safer than using a credit card.

Cons

Sometimes they put payments on hold for more than 2 weeks as a precaution in case there's a problem with a transaction. This tends to happen to sellers with limited account activity, a history of chargebacks or those selling certain higher-risk items such as electronics, gift cards and event tickets, where fraud is more common. There are also cases where users say their accounts were suddenly frozen. PayPal's systems constantly monitor transactions for unusual behavior and sometimes even something harmless, like moving a larger-than-usual amount of money, can trigger those restrictions.

“Assured buyer protection”

Pros

PayPal has been a reliable option for me regarding personal use and it works especially well for freelancers getting paid. Opening a new account is free, quick and easy. I also trust it because it keeps personal details protected and adds a solid layer of security. It handles both sending and receiving money really well, supports payments in different currencies and lets you transfer funds to a bank account. I regularly choose PayPal for online shopping especially on websites that seem less familiar or not fully trustworthy. If a site turns out to be a scam, PayPal helps protect my card information and has returned my money when needed.

Cons

For local payments it doesn't feel like the best option since it isn't as widely used and there are better alternatives available. The currency conversion fees are also very high so sending money internationally can lead to a noticeable loss. On top of that customer support has been frustrating at times because responses can take days. I also feel they are not very transparent since they don't always provide enough information when issues come up.

“Credible brand”

Pros

The brand carries a lot of credibility and it's accepted almost everywhere which makes it really convenient for me to rely on.

Cons

Invoice customization and configuration options could be stronger although it does seem like new features are being added little by little.

“Mobile-friendly platform”

Pros

PayPal covers a lot of needs which is why I enjoy using it for different purposes. The platform is simple to navigate and being mobile friendly makes it even more convenient to use anytime.

Cons

I'm not a fan of is the withdrawal process. When transferring money from PayPal to a bank account, it can take as long as 72 hours for the funds to show up.

“well protected financial data”

Pros

No matter where you are in the world or which currency you use, PayPal just works. I can link my bank account or a credit/debit card and use it for pretty much anything from buying, selling, sending payments, receiving money, to whatever else I need. It works just as well on a phone as it does on a computer and the whole process is very user-friendly. The part I appreciate most is the security since your money and personal details stay protected and your bank or card information is never shared with others.

Cons

One concern I've heard from many people is account freezing where access to both the account and the money in it gets blocked and there's not much they can do right away. I haven't personally run into that problem but I can say the transaction fees are definitely a downside. PayPal takes a percentage from every payment and that's something users more or less have to accept.

“full Japanese support”

Pros

Running a foreign-owned business in Japan, one of the biggest advantages of PayPal for us is that it supports both English and Japanese. I can configure everything in English while still feeling confident that the Japanese side is properly covered which matters a lot since our target customers are Japanese. On top of that, it has been by far the simplest online payment solution to get up and running in Japan, where regulations make most other options difficult to deal with. We also had excellent results integrating it with Zoho during the pandemic.

Cons

One drawback is that PayPal does not have strong brand recognition with our target audience. In a cautious market like Japan some customers can be hesitant to trust a foreign payment provider.

“fast transfers & withdrawals”

Pros

PayPal has been very useful for handling invoices and collecting project payments from our overseas clients. Transfers and withdrawals happen quickly which really helps with cash flow. It also supports multiple currencies so we have flexibility when billing international clients. On top of that, the invoicing tools, auto-withdrawal option and payment reminder feature make it much more convenient to manage everything in one place.

Cons

The biggest problem on our side is with refund handling. The refund and dispute process needs a lot more transparency because at times business owners end up dealing with refund claims that feel unnecessary or unfair.

“smooth checkout everywhere”

Pros

I appreciate how widely it's integrated with online retailers as well as some physical stores. The mobile app is also really functional which makes paying or managing things on the go very convenient.

Cons

There isn't much that I dislike but if you're thinking about using it for a small business, it's worth keeping an eye on the invoicing fees.

“Convert money into any currency”

Pros

One thing I absolutely love about this company is being able to convert money into practically any currency. It's very simple to use and besides the website, there's also a completely free app which makes it even better. PayPal helps me a lot with payments and transfers and I can also create invoices to charge people by email or even using their phone number. On top of that, I'm able to link my bank account and my cards to make purchases so for me it offers a lot of advantages.

Cons

Still aren't many stores where I can shop through their platform. I also feel it needs more payment options overall and it doesn't support some digital banks.

Pros

Getting started with PayPal was easy and using it day to day has been just as simple. I rely on it daily and it has helped my company feel confident when making payments and handling incoming money. On top of that the support team has been accessible whenever I've had a question.

“Strong international support”

Pros

PayPal handles transactions quickly and covers a lot of what a traditional bank does often at a lower cost. It works well for international transfers, bill payments, online shopping and receiving money. It's also compatible with most online platforms like Amazon and eBay. Fingerprint login adds convenience, the transaction history and statements are always available and it can be linked directly to a bank account. I also like that there's a business option which makes it suitable for international use as well.

Cons

Refund policy could be improved. There are also times when withdrawing money is difficult in some African countries because it doesn't always work well with local banks.

“no card details needed”

Pros

One of the biggest benefits for me is being able to shop online without handing my credit card details over to random websites. That matters a lot especially since I often buy from small businesses or local sellers and don't always feel confident about how secure their systems are.

Cons

Every now and then, the payment process hangs while switching between the website and PayPal. When that happens, I'm left wondering whether the payment actually went through or if it's still processing.

“easy recurring payments”

Pros

After using PayPal for years, I feel completely comfortable keeping my credit card details there because the platform has always seemed secure to me. One thing I really appreciate is being able to cancel automatic payments directly from my account area without having to contact the company at all. I can also set up recurring payments in advance which means I do not have to stress about missing upcoming deadlines. Their support system is very reliable and the 180-day purchase protection adds a lot of confidence when buying through PayPal. If goods or services are not delivered, their support team helps you recover your money.

Cons

Honestly I use it almost every day and have not had any problems with it.

“Reliable and fast processing”

Pros

Pretty much everyone already knows PayPal which makes it feel trustworthy right away. It's reliable, simple to use and the processing is quick. Those are all big things that matter when you're running a business.

Cons

The foreign transaction fees are a downside. I also wish there were a way to send money in other currencies without getting hit with that extra cost. On top of that, it's not usually easy to reach a live person and having a simpler way to set up monthly billing would make the service even better.
