Interactive onboarding saves time

Pros

One of the biggest benefits is how well it helps us guide all kinds of stakeholders, from project managers and product managers to software engineers and customers. They can go through interactive introductions or guidance here instead of being handed long documents or videos. Normally, it takes a lot of time to help people understand the product and how it works from an education standpoint. Internally, we also use it to train people on company processes. That cuts down the time wasted on process onboarding and policy education. We've already seen that this works much more efficiently than simply asking people to read documents or watch videos. It also feels more engaging than video since a lot of people tend to skip through those. With this kind of interactive design, it's much easier for people to understand and get onboarded.

Cons

One issue we've run into is managing different files because there isn't really a way to set up a full story journey. If we have several interactions, we end up having to send multiple files which gets frustrating and confusing pretty quickly. It would be much better to have some kind of index, learning center or knowledge hub where everything could live together in one place like a single organized page.

A must have for product demos

Pros

Storylane has been fantastic for showing off our product. It plays a role in nearly every new sales deal we close and I'd very likely bring it with me to my next job too.

Cons

At this point I don't have any complaints or dislikes about it.

Simple demos but mobile issues

Pros

Building demo pages with it is pretty easy and getting integrations set up doesn't take a lot of effort either.

Cons

One downside is that demos captured through HTML don't always display properly on mobile devices.

pretty strong platform

Pros

Storylane has been a really strong platform for building high converting product tours. It's also bringing in leads which makes it an important contributor to revenue.

Cons

There's not much to complain about because the platform works very well overall. The only weaker area is its performance on mobile.

HTML capture boosts demos

Pros

It has turned into a must-have for our marketing team. Being able to capture HTML product screens and then edit them afterward is especially valuable since it lets us anonymize sensitive information quickly and conveniently.

Cons

Its screen capture and recording features are somewhat restricted because of our IT security policies. I realize that issue is on our end but I still wish the platform had more ways to work around at least some of those security limitations.

Powerful video analytics

Pros

The video analytics it gives us have been really valuable for tracking how our videos are performing.

Cons

One thing that still seems lacking is the contact-level analytics. It's not very clear or convenient to see exactly who watched the videos.

Fast demo building and sharing

Pros

StoryLane is very easy to use as building and sharing demos is not a hassle, without any unnecessary steps or confusing parts getting in the way.

Cons

Honestly there's very little to complain about. It does exactly what it's meant to do and works as expected.

AI demos save time

Pros

Its AI features handle nearly all the demo content for us which makes the whole process feel fast and efficient. The one click option for adding AI voiceovers and narration is especially helpful. Creating and sharing demos through the extension is also very convenient and I barely need to spend time editing because the AI usually gets it right. On top of that the interface is clean and simple so getting started seems very hassle free.

Cons

The pricing setup is the hardest part for me. The starter plan includes most of what I need but if I want to use HTML demos, I have to move up to the growth plan and that costs about 10 times more.

Browser recording works beautifully

Pros

The browser extension works really well as we can create a demo just by going through the flow directly in our browser while it records.

Cons

It falls short when the demo or workflow depends on a desktop application so it wasn't enough for that use case.

helps build powerful demos

Pros

Building demos in it is very easy so a single person can create several demos without needing extra help. The built-in conversion tools inside the demos such as the persistent CTA, voiceovers and video avatars do a lot to keep viewers engaged and help drive better conversions. I also really value how quickly new features are released, along with how strong and responsive the support team is. The analytics are another big plus since they show us who has viewed our demos and offer good filtering options making it simple to identify everyone who interacted and set up notifications based on specific criteria. That gives our sales team what they need to follow up at the right time.

Cons

One area that could use a bit more work is the mobile demo experience which seems like it could be improved slightly.

Very helpful platform

Pros

Storylane has been a really helpful platform for showcasing and sharing our digital content in a more engaging, professional format. We particularly like how simple it is to build interactive experiences and send them out with just a link which makes product and company materials much more accessible for our audience. The interface is user friendly and the end result comes out looking clean and professional.

Cons

A few parts of the editing and customization experience could still offer more flexibility especially when we need to tailor content to specific branding or layout requirements. Even with that the platform is easy to use overall and continues to be a valuable tool for our team.

strong value for price

Pros

It gives sales teams a clean and safe way to showcase products without having to wait on solutions or engineering support. Also it helps prospects get a genuine feel for the software much earlier in the buying journey. At the starter tier it felt like very good value compared with the other platforms we evaluated.

Cons

One thing I ran into was difficulty turning video content into an actual guided demo. It would be really helpful if that feature were available too especially for converting older materials more quickly.

user friendly UI

Pros

Right from the start the UI seems very user friendly and the platform is simple to use and understand. The analytics provide valuable insights and the integrations work well.

Cons

There's not much to complain about but I do wish there were a way to exclude individual leads or specific accounts from generating activity signals. Since our team and freelancers test our Storylanes frequently, it can end up muddying the analytics.

Can be a little complex

Pros

Building interactive demos is incredibly quick and it gives us a practical way to show how our solution helps speed up sales and win deals. That hands-on demo experience has made a big difference in keeping prospects engaged and has significantly shortened our sales cycle. The return easily outweighs the subscription cost especially when you factor in the presales hours we save and the faster path to closing business. If just one extra staffing deal comes through because of an interactive demo, the ROI is immediate.

Cons

Getting complex, data heavy staffing dashboards to look just right can take a lot of manual adjustment which seems tedious at times. On top of that maintaining dynamic consultant profiles across several interactive demos is fairly time-consuming.

Demos without engineering help

Pros

One of the best things about it is how fast it lets teams turn a product into an interactive, guided demo without having to rely on engineering. Building click-through demos is easy as you can capture an actual product flow and then edit the text, hotspots and annotations right inside the platform which helps turn it into a good, on-brand experience instead of just a basic screen recording.

Cons

A downside is the analytics export. When downloading the CSV file, it only includes engaged customers and there's no option to choose whether you want just engaged customers or a broader data set.

give fast results

Pros

The thing I like most about it is that building interactive product demos with the drag-and-drop editor is quick and easy. The interface is also clean and user friendly which lets our team create custom interactive tours without needing any developer help. The AI tools also make editing faster by generating guides, steps and text suggestions automatically. We're still assessing the full impact as we explore CRM integrations for engagement tracking but it has already shown itself to be a very effective way to engage both existing customers and potential leads. Performance has been fast across multiple browsers and the interactive elements load without issues. On top of that the pricing feels fair for the value provided and the support team was helpful during setup.

Cons

The only downside is that custom styling can feel somewhat limited when you're trying to match more complex or unconventional design systems.

Quick onboarding, strong analytics

Pros

Storylane is an amazing tool. As the platform is simple to use, the analytics are really strong and the HubSpot integration works well for our needs.

Cons

One limitation with our current plan is that I am not able to invite team members to actively edit or view existing demos and analytics.

Helpful product walkthroughs

Pros

It is genuinely useful especially for giving viewers a clear step by step understanding of how a product works.

Cons

The thing I couldn't figure out was whether it supports trimming multiple sections within a recorded video clip. I checked the documentation to see if that was possible but I wasn't able to find anything about it.
