Great cloud, heavy setup

Pros

For me Jedox is an excellent cloud-based application that lets me concentrate completely on refining our financial processes. The setup demanded a significant time commitment but after configuring the data and reports I found them much easier to control.

Cons

I have noticed the user interface can be somewhat confusing especially in versions 2019.4 and earlier. While the look and feel improved in 2020.1 and later releases, I still find navigation can be a bit challenging at times.

Easy reports through Excel

Pros

It is really easy to access and customize reports and analyses particularly when working through Excel which makes my workflow much smoother.

Cons

My business has its own specific quirks and requirements yet overall I feel that the tool's implementation addressed all of them satisfactorily across the board.

Quick to pick up

Pros

Jedox software really easy to pick up as a regular user. It's quick and simple to build new views and although I haven't used competing products, this one feels very feature-complete. As it supports creating routine and security reports for the data. The support team is the best too, easy to reach and clearly knowledgeable about the product.

Cons

As an administrator, I find the monthly data-load routine tedious and slow and it's surprisingly easy to make mistakes during the process. We need very detailed manuals and constant checks while loading to avoid errors. It would be possible to simplify these data-loading steps by integrating with the company ERP but that would require additional resources and effort to implement.

Reliable, feels tailored

Pros

Reliability and flexibility are the two aspects that stand out to me the most. I have been using Jedox every day for the past six months and haven't encountered any issues with data reliability. Once data is uploaded and validated, everything operates smoothly without any surprises. In terms of flexibility, it genuinely feels like I am receiving a customized experience tailored to my needs.

Cons

If I had to point out a downside it would be the Excel add-in. The add-in's features and functionality are good as long as it's the only active extension in Excel. However when I run Excel with multiple add-ins enabled, I have noticed that Excel can become unresponsive and occasionally crash.

Hooks to accounting

Pros

Because Jedox hooks straight into our accounting system, we've found it incredibly effective in our workflow. As soon as we close the books, my team and I can pull together a complete reporting package and spot accounting mistakes early by creating preliminary financials. It even lets us finish our forecasting almost at the same time we complete the close, saving us a lot of time.

Cons

Like with most reporting tools, I have learned it's nearly indispensable to work with a knowledgeable partner when implementing Jedox. We needed outside expertise to guide setup and ensure everything was configured correctly so I'd recommend budgeting for consultant support during the rollout to avoid delays and mistakes.

Excel formulas build forms

Pros

What I really like is how flexible it is to build forms and reports using Excel features like formulas and cell references as this makes designing much easier without needing advanced programming skills. I also appreciate the real-time updates as data entered shows up instantly without waiting for reloads. Plus the advanced filters give me precise control over what I see and it is easy to create complex reports that combine data from different sources. User permissions and report access are simple to set up based on rules. Finally, I value the ability to connect to external databases, whether relational or multidimensional.

Cons

I find it frustrating when dimensions like Date are treated as text characteristics instead of true date types because that complicates building reports and forms that rely on filtering and formula functions. It would help a lot if, when a Palo function is inserted into a cell, a tooltip or label showed the dimension description and the cube position so I don't have to open the modeler every time. Also when I am viewing the definition of a Palo function, having a clear inline explanation that outlines the function's purpose and describes each step would save time. The option to apply filters to elements or attributes inside a Palo function structure would be useful too, as it could eliminate the need to add extra attributes or dimensions just to filter. Finally, creating powerful, advanced insights with dynamic charts can still be a bit of a challenge.

Basic training, powerful reports

Pros

For me the platform is really easy to work with after just a basic training session I was already able to build powerful reports and applications.

Cons

I have noticed several spots in the documentation could be clearer and for some use cases I had to spend significantly more time digging in to figure out exactly how the tool behaves.

Reports to web, quick roi

Pros

Bringing our standard reports to web and mobile is pretty easy. I rely on familiar Excel functions alongside Jedox OLAP features which makes report building simple too. Also it connects with a broad variety of systems and databases and we saw a quick return on investment.

Cons

The mobile app needs significant improvement. it leaves a lot to be desired. I'd also like web reports to adapt responsively to different screen sizes.

User-friendly, quick team onboarding

Pros

Overall the software is user-friendly and very adaptable. In short I find it simple to use and I can onboard new team members quickly because the interface and key features are detailed.

Cons

From my experience it struggles a bit when you try to scale it across a large corporate setup. I also wish its performance were snappier and some customization choices feel like kludgy workarounds rather than clean integrations.

Pros

Projects are pretty easy to implement and I can handle most of the work myself without hiring consultants from installing the software to configuring it and setting up BI projects, I can do it all.

Cons

It's not a major problem for me but I have noticed the documentation often falls behind the fast pace of new features that are released quite frequently.
