Budgeting in Jedox - CZ&SK

Pros

I really appreciate how Jedox connects to our accounting system iScala. This allows me to see budget data and actuals simultaneously. Moreover, I like using the "XLSX Snapshot" in all sheets. Finally, this tool helps me connect data from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as we report them together.

Cons

As a Financial Controller, I find this system beneficial, despite encountering some initial issues with formulas that were later corrected. However, my colleagues who handle budget creation didn't find it as satisfying. They faced challenges with pasting data from Excel using "Ctrl + V" and understanding how "#" functions, leading to accidental data overwrites. Proper training for your team would be advisable.

Pros

Integrating with current systems was quite easy. It saves me a lot of time compared to budgeting in Excel, which I used to do previously (automated input of actuals, automated links between different sub-reports...).

Cons

Data input is somewhat challenging compared to Excel, which we primarily use. This limitation requires us to seek external help for certain tasks.

Fantastic BI Tool

Pros

Jedox requires little to no training, and I was able to use it in no time when we implemented it. This is partly due to the fact that they have built out the methods for extracting and mapping data in a way that is intuitive for everyone. We hired a Jedox consultant to come out and design our reporting cube because we had never used Jedox or any OLAP software before. However, I later realized that a consultant was never needed in our case. Anyway, they did such an outstanding job explaining how everything worked that I was able to build much of what we required myself with their help.

Cons

Some functions documentation is insufficient; it provides a brief explanation of what the function does but not how it accomplishes it or what you must do to make it work. The report-building tool is powerful in its resemblance to Excel, but it has significant limits and performance concerns under certain conditions.

Pros

I can get specific financial data using different filters and sort them as well. Using the add-in gives me the opportunity to get financials for specific components. The ability to build different hierarchies, measures, product sets, etc., is a big advantage.

Cons

It is not very intuitive and can be confusing due to its numerous specific features that aren't easily learned without guidance. Moreover, it's quite expensive considering the monthly errors that occur.

I find this software highly adaptable and customizable, allowing me to tailor it for a wide variety of tasks and specific needs. Whether I'm working on reporting, data analysis, or any other function, I can easily configure the software to meet the unique requirements of each task.

There's a steep learning curve to fully utilize the tool.

Flexible solution, easy to expand

Pros

Jedox is very powerful and easy to use. I love the integration into Excel, which allows me to create completely new ad hoc reports within minutes. Also, I can start with a small solution for a specific reporting or planning need and expand it easily, even during runtime.

Cons

Improving the integration of workflows into custom reports and applications could make it more accessible.

Pros

Automating a manual budgeting process allows me to focus on reviewing the numbers rather than compiling them.

Cons

The interface lacks aesthetics and setting up workflows can be cumbersome. It also requires substantial reliance on software vendors.

MIS Engineer

Pros

I really like the excellent UI design of this software, which makes it very intuitive and easy to navigate. The ease of use is a significant advantage, allowing me to accomplish tasks efficiently without any hassle. Also, I have not encountered any compatibility issues, which enhances my overall experience with the software.

Cons

We're still facing issues with single sign-on for one account that haven't been resolved.

Jedox customised

Pros

Using Excel add-ins, I can effortlessly customize reports to suit my specific needs. This feature allows me to adjust and format the reports exactly how I want, making the process both flexible and simple.

Cons

Despite creating a master list for budget setup, we still need to manually update the reference master in Excel, resulting in redundant work.
