Comprehensive reports

Pros

This tool covers just about everything I need and is very user-friendly. The financial reports give me all the information I'm looking for and the invoicing and payment tools save me a lot of time especially when I use automatic monthly payments for multiple clients.

Cons

Every now and then, transactions get assigned to the wrong account automatically instead of letting me choose where they should go.

Not difficult to get in touch with support team

Pros

After about 10 years of using it, the cloud access still feels like one of its biggest strengths. I can handle my books from my desktop, tablet or phone anywhere I have internet which works perfectly for a busy business owner. The platform is generally very user-friendly and the interface is convenient enough to make tracking income and expenses simple especially with bank and credit card transactions downloading automatically. The automation tools also save me a lot of time, particularly for recurring invoices and it's really helpful being able to collaborate with my accountant in real time. On top of that, the large selection of integrations with other business apps is a major advantage for keeping my workflow efficient. I also appreciate that customer support is easy to contact whenever something comes up.

Cons

It starts to feel expensive as the business grows and you have to move to higher plans for additional features or more users especially compared with some competitors. I've also been frustrated with support at times because responses can be slow and resolving more complicated technical issues is not always as simple as it should be. Some of the more advanced features, like detailed reporting, come with a fairly steep learning curve and customization in certain areas such as invoice design, is more limited than I'd prefer. I've also run into occasional glitches and performance slowdowns especially when moving quickly through the system or generating larger reports. Even with those issues, I still think it offers the best overall value when it comes to business software.

tracks your finances and creates invoices

Pros

Running a business feels much more manageable with it. It lets you stay on top of your finances, create invoices and handle everything at a very affordable price.

Cons

There really wasn't much to complain about while using it. Anytime a concern came up, customer support was there with the right answers.

Fits our needs

Pros

This has been a really positive experience. It's simple to work with, fits our needs well and the pricing feels very reasonable for how much we use it. We rely on it for posting expenses and importing invoices from our main CRM and it handles both without issues. Customer support is typically reliable too. On top of that, the financial reporting is detailed and gives us all the information we need.

Cons

Every now and then, the system does run into bugs. The QBO team usually fixes them within a reasonable amount of time but it can still take a while to figure out whether what we're seeing is actually a bug or something else.

Inconsistent categorization

Pros

Being able to use it from anywhere is really the only benefit for me. As long as the internet connection is strong and reliable, getting into the account is convenient.

Cons

This really isn't a good fit for someone without bookkeeping experience. The bank feeds seem simple and accurate at first but that changes once you actually try to track down a transaction. One time it may label something as an auto expense, then another time call it a loan or even supplies. The categorization is inconsistent so you really need a solid understanding of basic accounting before you can trust how it classifies things.

tidy interface

Pros

The interface is clean, invoicing is simple and the reporting tools are really useful. It does a solid job of keeping finances organized and easy to access.

Cons

There are times when it lags and customer support can be a bit slow to respond. I've also noticed some occasional latency issues.

Constant glitches and wasted hours

Pros

Since it's the standard platform many accountants use, sending over information for tax filing is simple.

Cons

Dealing with this software has been very frustrating because it has so many problems and I end up losing hours trying to fix glitches. A lot of the time, customer support can't actually solve anything. At one point, after 8 hours on the phone and being passed between several people, the only answer they gave me was to close my account and start from scratch.

Highly professional team

Pros

Getting help is very convenient since customer support is easy to reach and they reply almost immediately through chat. Having worked with both the desktop and online versions, I feel the online one is much more simple to navigate and makes it easier to find what you need.

Cons

Setting up tracking and attendance by myself was challenging and I also struggled when trying to attach jobs to the tracking.

Monitors incomes and expenses

Pros

Having AR and AP handled in a single system is really helpful. We also rely on it for our larger products so we can monitor income and expenses for each project in one place.

Cons

they sometimes change the interface without any notice and those updates do not always feel like an improvement.

Useful on-screen help feature

Pros

It is well laid out and the on-screen help feature is really useful because we can ask questions right away whenever something comes up while working in QuickBooks Online.

Cons

At times, duplicate transactions show up in the bank feed and if we're not watching closely, we end up having to go back and correct our financial reports.

extremely glitchy

Pros

Being web-based is a big plus and the reports are simple to run and export. Paying bills is also simple and user-friendly.

Cons

This product is extremely glitchy and can be slow. Customer service is also absolutely terrible and not helpful at all. I also really dislike the new layout and the reports aren't customizable.

Well-organized interface

Pros

this platform feels much more simple now and the interface is user-friendly enough that getting around it doesn't take much effort. Compared to how difficult it used to be to navigate, it's been a big improvement and much more pleasant to use.

Cons

finding answers or getting help while using the software should be easier. I ended up relying on YouTube and Google quite a bit to figure things out.

time-saving bookkeeping powerhouse

Pros

Bookkeeping takes far less time and effort with this and I've been extremely happy with how smoothly everything works together through the integrations.

Cons

I don't have any real complaints, aside from wishing they would quit changing and updating the main dashboard screen so often.

Nonstop changes and slowdowns

Pros

Being cloud-based is one of the few advantages since I can access it from any device that has a browser. It's also widely used so finding third-party help and support is usually not difficult.

Cons

The nonstop changes have been really frustrating. I'm not a fan of the user interface and it's missing several features I was used to having in Pro Desktop. On top of that, it runs slowly even when the internet connection is fast.

smooth recurring transactions

Pros

It being online is a huge advantage since I can access it from anywhere and the automation with default bank feeds makes recurring transactions feel smooth.

Cons

I do wish the payroll setup were simpler and it would be even better if it integrated with other software to help calculate sick days, vacation time and similar items.

Useful free version

Pros

Using the free version gave me a solid feel for how the app works. Since it's cloud-based, being able to sign in from anywhere with an internet connection is a real advantage. It also helps a lot with document management because you can attach files directly to expenses and quickly find them again later when needed.

Cons

That said, I eventually stopped using it because it costs a bit more than other similar options.

Convenient for small businesses

Pros

It has been really convenient for my small business. I mainly rely on it for bookkeeping, getting things ready for taxes, sending invoices and handling reimbursements and it's very simple to work with.

Cons

Every now and then, it duplicates transactions. It does flag them as duplicates but instead of automatically resolving it, you still have to manually delete the one you don't want.

Helpful monthly reports

Pros

One thing that really works well is how each topic opens up more options so it's simple to find the exact place to add customers or keep track of expenses. It also gives a monthly report that helps you see how the business is performing. The site is fairly simple to navigate overall.

Cons

I just wish they would stop changing the main screen so often. It seems like they're always trying to make improvements which is appreciated but sometimes it feels like too many changes are being made.

Great for keeping up with sales

Pros

It's been excellent for keeping up with sales, invoices and expenses. This software has played a huge role in improving the financial health and overall organization of our small business.

Cons

From time to time, setup issues have come up when adding new users who already have existing accounts but the workaround has been simple and it hasn't affected the overall value this software brings to our business.

Attractive design

Pros

Getting started with it was incredibly easy. The setup felt very simple and direct. The interface also looks really nice. It has a clean, attractive design overall. Great job.

Cons

There really wasn't much to dislike. If I had to point out one thing, it would be that the customization feels a bit limited especially when it comes to adjusting reports or personalizing invoices the way you want.
