“Has a few issues”

Pros

it's web-based so anyone can get to it from anywhere. It's also fairly user-friendly for people who aren't bookkeepers or accountants.

Cons

On the downside, it lets non-bookkeepers and non-accountants make changes that really should be restricted to accounting professionals. Printing is also frustrating because it takes around 5 to 8 clicks just to print one thing. Since the latest update, client checks also no longer appear in the print list unless you first select "print later," which makes the process more confusing.

“Lets me monitor mileage, expenses and deductions”

Pros

Everything is laid out in a very logical way and it helps me stay on top of all my information. I can monitor mileage, expenses, deductions, invoices and more all in one simple program.

Cons

Honestly, there wasn't really anything about it that I disliked. It turned out to be the perfect tool for keeping track of my data while working as a contract food delivery driver.

“Automatic transactions”

Pros

Having it linked to bank accounts is a big help since transactions come in automatically and save time. The reports are clean-looking and simple to export when needed.

Cons

The cost adds up pretty quickly and it can feel like certain features are locked behind higher-priced plans. On top of that, support isn't always quick to respond when help is urgent.

“Payroll visibility is amazing”

Pros

It has been a really good fit for us. We were using a different payroll service before and I really appreciate being able to check hours worked and PTO balances all in one place.

Cons

Logging in can be a bit frustrating at times. You have to use your email and sometimes it also requires sending a code to your phone.

“approachable interface”

Pros

Out of everything I've used, this has easily been the best tool. It didn't take long to learn at all and using it feels very simple. The interface is one of my favorite parts because it's so friendly and approachable.

Cons

It's been over two years since I started using it and during that time I haven't run into any issues at all.

“Doesn’t work well with niche databases”

Pros

It handles the day-to-day needs of most businesses well enough and covers the basics for regular operations.

Cons

Bringing in niche product databases doesn't work very well and that ends up making billing and expense reporting pretty confusing.

“not a fan of subscription model”

Pros

Helps manage basic bookkeeping tasks and that's really the extent of it. It also feels like users are being pushed into moving over to QuickBooks Online.

Cons

The subscription model is something I really dislike and the constant price hikes have gotten ridiculous. I'd rather buy the software once and own it instead of depending on a subscription and dealing with ongoing increases. On top of that, it takes way too many clicks to get where you need to go.

“Saves time spent on payroll”

Pros

Handling employee payroll is much simpler with this software. It has cut down the amount of time we spend on payroll each month by quite a bit.

Cons

Honestly, I can't think of any real downside. One thing we really appreciate is that it emails staff directly so they can view their pay stubs.

“Powerful integrations and features”

Pros

Pretty simple to use and it connects well with my other tools, especially my project management software. It also comes with a lot of functionality which makes it really useful overall.

Cons

It is a bit on the expensive side and it is not quite as user-friendly as I would prefer. To really get the most out of it, I need a bookkeeper with a deeper understanding of the system.

Pros

It has really simplified my work. My boss first trained me to use it back in 2006 and it's been a very positive experience overall.

Cons

There were a few hiccups when I tried to get in touch with a customer service representative although the problems were eventually taken care of.

“Can be customized according to your needs”

Pros

It can be as full-featured or as simple as you need which is a big reason it has stayed the go-to software for so many years. The online version also makes invoice payments and money transfers really convenient.

Cons

I do wish the layout felt more like the desktop workflow. Even with the desktop-style view turned on some features are still missing or just not implemented as well.

“takes care of taxes for me”

Pros

Appreciate how well it works for payroll. It manages payroll reliably though you do need to double-check that the right pay period is selected if you process it a few days after the period ends which is something I usually do. I also appreciate that it takes care of the taxes for you because that saves a lot of time and hassle.

Cons

Transaction categorization still feels less intelligent than it should be. It tends to stick with whatever category was used last instead of making smarter choices based on the transaction. It would be much better if the system were more intelligent, possibly with AI and I'd also like to see helpful "are you sure" prompts that could catch mistakes before a user confirms them.

“Offers a range of automated tools”

Pros

Getting started with it doesn't take long and once you understand the basics, it feels very user friendly. There are plenty of automated tools that help keep the books updated on time which makes day-to-day bookkeeping much more manageable. It also does a good job of helping you stay organized with taxes. Another plus is how customizable it is and there are lots of online guides and videos available when you need extra help.

Cons

it doesn't always work smoothly with other online software such as Contractor Foreman. The banking feature can also match transactions incorrectly at times which means you have to double-check things. Before you really learn the system and set it up properly, it's fairly easy to make mistakes. Customer service could also be better.

“comes with ready-made reports”

Pros

It's simple to use, comes with plenty of ready-made reports and for most tasks you can export data to Excel. There's also a solid selection of connectors available for other products.

Cons

Batch journal entries at year-end now require the accountant's version. Removing that option from the standard version feels a bit stingy.

“Friendly layout”

Pros

Easy to operate, with a user-friendly layout and simple navigation. It makes it convenient to check your paystubs and share them whenever needed.

Cons

From time to time, when I try to open my stubs or check my hours, the app gets pretty laggy and sometimes freezes on one screen.

“Allows me to duplicate previous work”

Pros

Creating estimates in it has been really convenient and the feature I appreciate most is being able to duplicate previous work. It saves time and makes the whole process quicker and more efficient.

Cons

it's missing the option to add a custom column which would be helpful for including comments or other details related to specific items when needed.

“Fast invoicing and direct payments”

Pros

Doesn’t take long to create invoices and clients can pay directly through the system which saves a lot of time. It's also simple to use overall.

Cons

It can be hard to figure out where to find the details when the numbers don't match. If you don't have an accounting background some parts are confusing and there isn't enough guidance to explain things.

“User-friendly from day one”

Pros

Its been very easy to use. Setting up an account didn't take much effort and I didn't need a lot of training to get going. It feels very user-friendly for the average person.

Cons

account syncing would disconnect pretty often which created problems. The pricing can also get expensive depending on the level of service you need.

“Stay away from it!”

Pros

This software belongs in the trash. It is not user-friendly at all and now I have lost access to my company. I absolutely despise this program.

Cons

I cannot create a new password or open my company file. Also, the reports are not useful and the entire program takes far too much time.

“Simple to manage”

Pros

This is how I receive my paychecks from work and the platform is very simple for anyone to read and navigate.

Cons

There are no drawbacks. It works very well for what I use it for.
