As a starter accounting system, this is hard to beat. AR and AP are very simple, the built-in reporting covers the basics well and the pricing is appealing compared with other options.

Once our business grew, the feature set and integrations with other systems started to fall behind. We needed stronger reporting and real-time synced data which isn't really a knock against it for what it's designed to do.

Getting started with it feels very simple and it automatically brings in all transactions so you can review and organize them however you want. You can upload receipts as you go and they stay securely attached to the right transaction which takes away the hassle of keeping paper copies safe. The dashboard also gives you a quick snapshot of your current profit and loss for the tax year which makes it simple to stay on top of how things are going.

Reconnecting the bank account can be time-consuming and is often frustrating to complete. It usually takes several attempts before it finally works.

Being able to manage everything from my phone, desktop or wherever I am is something I absolutely love. All the information is right there and clearly displayed. The client portal that comes with QuickBooks is also a huge plus for us since our clients can follow along and pay invoices directly.

Working with third-party integrations has been a major headache. I had to bring in a professional to connect it with our payroll provider and even then it still does odd things that I can't always explain or understand. It needs close monitoring and it's definitely not something you can just leave to automatically update transactions without checking it.

There are a few quirks in the system that I'm not crazy about but they're pretty minor.

It seemed simple at first but once problems came up, they wouldn't properly deal with them. It took more than six months just to acknowledge the issue and they still kept billing me despite all the trouble. I haven't been able to use the system for over six months, had to switch to MYOB instead and they still insist it wasn't their fault even though nothing was fixed from six months ago.

After wasting more than six months being told a fix was on the way, the problem is still unresolved. Not a single invoice or transaction has synced and now I'm stuck fighting for a full refund. Avoid it at all costs.

Keeping up with invoicing and billing is pretty convenient. The line items can be customized however needed and it gives the option to send invoices by email or even through SMS.

A lot of the information still has to be entered manually which takes extra time. Also, when I send an invoice or a deposit request, there are times when the recipient never receives it.
