Powerful platform for growing teams

Pros

As someone managing payments across countries, I really appreciate their Global First architecture and the shift toward agentic AI, their touchless multi-entity management has been a real lifesaver. For mid-to-large companies it feels like a powerhouse although I and other users sometimes wrestle with a fairly steep initial setup and a noticeable learning curve.

Cons

I often grumble about what feels like an implementation tax and the maze of complex pricing with those small drip fees, it can hit like a financial sledgehammer and support occasionally throws up frustrating speed bumps.

Great for integrations and payments

Pros

What I really like is that it connects with so many other tools and platforms, giving plenty of integration options. I am also pleased that it supports handling international payouts, whether via ACH or alternate payment methods. Another big plus for me is the built-in approval workflow, it's easy to use but still efficient which makes routing approvals up the chain easy and reliable.

Cons

Getting started can be a bit of a challenge because the interface takes time to learn and there are a lot of settings and features to get comfortable with. It took me some effort to feel confident navigating the site and its capabilities.

Confusing reporting and payments

Pros

For our team, we find it a great centralized tool that connects reasonably well with our banking and accounting platforms, helping us manage accounts payable and handle bill payments efficiently.

Cons

I find the bill reporting and payment schedule within the system confusing and the payment flow isn't as dependable as some competing solutions, plus I feel there are numerous hoops to jump through to demonstrate compliance.

Modernized payables with room to grow

Pros

As a $4.5B credit union that migrated from Prologue, where everything was handled manually, invoices arrived by email and staff had to type them in, I can say Tipalti has moved us into a much more modern workflow and given us improved control over compliance. Built-in OFAC screening right in the payment flow is a huge advantage for a financial institution like ours and gives us stronger oversight than we had before. The standout benefit though, has been the consistent support from Customer Success Manager and Customer Support Engineer. The moment they took over our account the difference was clear. Plus they alwats stays proactive, always pushing for improvements and making sure we're included in pilots and tests for new features like AI-generated reporting. They even connects us with Tipalti's engineers so we can explain what a large credit union needs which has helped the product team better grasp our compliance and accounting realities. That collaboration has unlocked possibilities for future enhancements that would make the platform more practical for larger organizations. Meanwhile, they are the best after we go-live, handling every ticket, following up reliably and not letting issues drop even when the answer is simply the platform doesn't do that. She keeps cases moving until they're resolved or escalated properly and that dependability matters when you're running a platform at our scale.

Cons

Implementation ranks among the hardest system projects I have overseen. We were told it would take six months yet it stretched to nearly a year and that only happened because my team drove every milestone, requested weekly meetings and pushed aggressively. The group assigned to our rollout felt relatively new and lacked the deep product knowledge we needed for a $4.5B institution. We also had to migrate 2,818 vendors from manual email entry in Prologue into Tipalti, a process we ultimately had to handle ourselves. I spent many late nights combing through manuals and testing imports because the hands-on guidance we expected didn't materialize. After going live we ran into several functional gaps that required workarounds. there's no native review stage for AP to validate coding and GL accuracy before invoices go to approvers which is how our process must work. The expense module isn't flexible enough for an organization with roaming staff, we have over 300 employees who rotate locations yet the system only allows one designated approver per person, if that approver is unavailable the only workaround is uploading an entire employee sheet which is clunky. On the AMEX side our policy mandates post-purchase managerial review and Tipalti doesn't support that so we export transactions to Excel, attach them to our legacy approval form and route them through DocuSign. It functions but it's entirely manual. Reporting is limited and there are no AP leadership dashboards so we cannot quickly view total volumes, invoice aging or bottlenecks without exporting data. We still manually import Tipalti transactions into Prologue daily to keep our ledger in sync and branded check printing isn't available which confuses vendors and members who expect our name on checks. Altogether, these limitations make the product feel more suited to small or mid-sized businesses than to a large, regulated credit union with detailed control needs.

Easy and reliable for growing teams

Pros

This software is user-friendly and very dependable and I feel it might be pricey for a small or start-up business yet it suits a mid-sized company that manages a large number of suppliers.

Cons

I have found it to be fairly expensive for smaller businesses and the process of integrating it with an ERP system can be quite complex, posing a real hurdle if you lack technical resources.

Intuitive and getting better

Pros

Overall I find the platform very user-friendly and familiar to use. For our traveling staff, things like snapping receipts on mobile have been a huge help and the tight integrations with tools such as Sage Intacct and Amex have really streamlined our processes. I also appreciate that Tipalti seems responsive to customer needs, the recent change enabling more precise coding underlines their commitment to continual improvement and to delivering the automation we've been after.

Cons

My main gripe at the moment is that the corporate card approval workflow is limited. Right now card charges route straight to finance and skip the frontline managers who normally need to sign off and that step matters a lot for how we operate. Fortunately, Tipalti is already working on a more powerful approval flow that should roll out soon. It's comforting to know a fix is underway and that the company is acting on user feedback.

never run into any problem

Pros

One of the things I really value about Tipalti is how it brings our payment workflows into one place and makes them so much simpler particularly when we're dealing with multiple currencies and cross-border transfers. My company handles commissions in currencies like USD and Euros so having a system that automates currency conversions and the actual payout process has been a huge relief for me and my team. Back when we were processing payments through Wells Fargo it felt clunky and slow but since switching to Tipalti we process payments far more efficiently. The ability to import invoices in bulk and to batch payments has saved us an enormous amount of time and being confident that a payment will be debited from the correct currency account has removed a lot of the guesswork and reduced potential errors. Another thing that stands out is the quality of communication and support from the Tipalti staff. Their support crew were extremely responsive and helpful during setup and implementation. They walked me through configuration steps, troubleshooting and even tricky cases like specific currency exchange scenarios. On top of all that, the platform is user-friendly enough that once we've completed setup, my team can run payments without running into major problems.

Cons

I do find the OCR scanning takes longer than I expected and it doesn't support scanning multiple invoices packed into a single PDF file. I also run into minor quirks with notification settings that can be annoying.

Excellent ap automation platform

Pros

Tipalti has effectively centralized and automated our accounts payable workflows. The NetSuite integration works brilliantly, offering real-time synchronization and precise GL posting. Its automated approval flows and OCR invoice capture have been transformative, cutting down hours and making management across multiple entities much simpler. Customer support has been outstanding and I feel the platform is clearly designed to scale with our future growth.

Cons

Getting custom approval workflows and vendor onboarding up and running demanded a pretty steep learning curve and I ended up doing a lot of back-and-forth to get things configured. Still, the platform's flexibility combined with an attentive support team helped me navigate those challenges and get everything under control.

Modern and easy to use

Pros

Its interface is really modern and user-friendly which has reduced the team's learning curve. The materials and help available to us have been outstanding and I genuinely appreciate having a dedicated technical support rep.

Cons

We've run into occasional bugs in the system that have slowed down our day-to-day operations. It also tends to lag a bit around month-end which is frustrating because that's exactly when we need the platform to be performing at its best.

Worth every penny

Pros

Having gone through some terrible rollouts before, Tipalti's white-glove approach felt like a complete relief. Our implementation lead guided our team step by step and always ensured every one of our questions got answered. Honestly this was the simplest implementation we've ever experienced and it truly justified the cost.

Cons

The user interface feels a bit dated to me. I understand they have an extensive roadmap planned yet I still find some of the automation features to be somewhat awkward and clumsy in practice.

Super smooth and dependable

Pros

The platform is really user-friendly to use and updates like the redesigned invoice and payment pages have made getting approvals and processing payments much more easy and efficient. I love that so much is centralized, vendor onboarding, invoice tracking and related tasks are all in one place which has cut down on manual steps and made daily workflows simpler to manage. The NetSuite connection is particularly helpful, it integrates smoothly with our existing systems so managing POs and approvals across different business units feels seamless. Whenever we've had questions or needed assistance, the Tipalti team has responded quickly and even helped troubleshoot NetSuite-specific matters. It's also been encouraging to see them act on customer feedback, for example, they updated the payment screen after listening to user suggestions. That responsiveness makes it clear they care about improving the product for real users and I have found that refreshing. There have been measurable time savings and fewer errors since adopting it which has made the investment worthwhile for our team. In short, the solution has been reliable and has genuinely improved the efficiency and value of our workflow processes.

Cons

An area I'd like to see improved is the approval delegate functionality. When a colleague takes time off I end up having to manually reassign their approval tasks and that creates unnecessary administrative overhead. It would be far more convenient if users could nominate their own delegates in advance or if admins had more flexible reassignment controls. These are relatively small improvements but I am always asking whether my requests are queued or already part of their development roadmap. So far I regularly check for updates and get feedback from the team about whether these items are in a pipeline of improvements.

Modern features but pricey

Pros

I really like the app's sleek, modern interface, it feels polished and simple to use. I also found the vendor self-service features handy. suppliers can register bank details and upload invoices themselves. The system's image/OCR pulls data from imported invoices to pre-fill AP forms and I appreciated that approval workflows can be customized to our needs.

Cons

What bothered me was the pricing, it simply wasn't competitive with the other payment platforms we were evaluating and when it came to foreign currency transfers their fees were shockingly high, roughly four to five times what a rival charged. On top of that, the invoice image capture process isn't immediate, it took about a day to get results back. We also had to pre-fund a separate account to cover outgoing payments which added operational overhead. Functionality-wise, Tipalti duplicated some of what our ERP, Acumatica, already does and we couldn't get Tipalti to import the coded AP forms from Acumatica the way we needed. Finally, I found it wasn't easy to open up AP submission as a self-service option for a large number of non-accounting department users without adding more complexity.

makes my job stress free

Pros

The platform is really easy to get around and I can pull down the reports I need without trouble. Each year when we distribute 1099s to our U.S. video owner licensees and 1042s to our international video owner licensees, I am able to efficiently compile the information required both to send to our licensees and to file the necessary returns with the IRS for tax reporting.

Cons

There isn't anything about Tipalti that I can point to as a major dislike. If I had to suggest one area for improvement, it would be faster response and resolution times from customer support so open tickets we've raised get closed out more quickly.

Easy and fast payments

Pros

Payments were easy to handle but I don't have any other insight into Tipalti, it simply served as the third-party platform that issued my work payments.

Cons

I don't really know much because my payout was handled through an email, I do appreciate their logo and how quickly they processed payment for my ULG check.

Pros

It makes filling out tax forms and receiving affiliate payments from a wide variety of partners much easier and more easy.

Love the vendor self-service

Pros

My vendors now handle their own payment information through Tipalti which lowers the chance of fraud for me and lets my team concentrate on higher-value responsibilities instead of admin tasks. I have also found Tipalti to be especially reliable and efficient when handling cross-border or international payments.

Cons

I have noticed that since we partnered with Tipalti they keep rolling out new, related offerings, for example the Tipalti Card, as they continue to innovate. Unfortunately, we haven't had an opportunity to take advantage of any of those newer products so far.

Pros

What I loved about Tipalti is how it made collecting payments from my distributor so much smoother while still keeping my personal details safe.

Great time-saver with solid syncing

Pros

We rely on the AI coding feature to cut down on manual work and it keeps our data synced with Intacct, plus I appreciate that it alerts us when syncs fail so we can quickly troubleshoot.

Cons

I find it tedious that I have to add invoice lines one at a time for bills spanning different departments which makes processing far less efficient than I'd like.

Love how efficient it is

Pros

I have come to really enjoy using Tipalti because it has essentially replaced what used to require an army of AP clerks by automating those tasks, it's easy to navigate, packed with useful features and gives comprehensive AP controls.
