“Tipalti: The Payment Processor That Surprised Me
Pros
Initially skeptical about using Tipalti for affiliate marketing, I found it surprisingly easy compared to other processors. Signing up took just 3-5 minutes, and the intuitive interface required no instructions. What impressed me most was the promptness and accuracy of payments I received them right on schedule, unlike with other processors where delays were common. Overall, Tipalti has been the simplest and most effective payment processor I've used.

Cons
I think the product's customization to meet customer requirements and the rollout of incremental features need overall improvement. As our company scales, our particular requirements evolve and Tipalti could be better at accommodating small changes to integrations and the overall user experience.

Pros
It is easy to scale payment operations across many clients and to bring new clients onboard. It lets me issue payouts both as regular monthly batches and as individual one-off payments when necessary. It fits neatly into our regular monthly financial workflow. We've been using Tipalti in our organization for several years now.
Cons
I wish it could connect more seamlessly with our clients invoicing platforms, better integration with client invoice systems would really help streamline our workflow.

What I appreciate about Tipalti is how it handles collecting W-9s and stores suppliers bank account information safely. I find that removes a lot of the worries suppliers might have and streamlines sending payments right from Tipalti, whether by ACH, wire or check. Having those W-9 forms stored in the system also makes the year-end 1099 preparation much easier for me.
Cons
I have seen some integration hiccups with whatever accounting package we tie into but more often than not they come down to human mistakes when the bills are coded. I also make a point to watch foreign currency conversion charges closely especially if we're paying in a different currency than the Virtual Account that was set up because those fees can add up.

Pros
We've found the support team really quick to respond whenever we have questions and we rarely run into technical or system problems which has been really helpful for maintaining steady invoice processing.
Cons
I'd like the ability to personalize the interface so we can surface only the fields that matter to us. For instance, it would help to show a 'pending approval by' field under pending payments and to hide the Payee ID field since we don't use it.

I am impressed by how powerful the AP solution is and I genuinely appreciate the vendor portal, the W9 handling and payment validation are particularly helpful. The AI features shave off a lot of time spent on manual data entry which really improves our efficiency.
Cons
We're using the PO solution and I feel it needs more developer focus on areas like reporting, best-practices training and deeper ERP integration so we can proactively prevent synchronization errors.

We've had a truly transformative experience with Tipalti when it comes to managing our financial workflow. Before we adopted it, handling accounts payable and international payments felt complicated and demanded a lot of staff time and effort. Tipalti has made those tasks much simpler and boosted our financial productivity in ways we hadn't expected. The supplier onboarding capability has been especially impressive, it makes bringing suppliers onboard and verifying them easy while keeping tax requirements in check. That feature alone has cut down on administrative work and given us confidence that we're meeting tax rules. Because Tipalti automates invoice handling, processing invoices is now smooth and largely free of mistakes which saves us hours and reduces expensive slip-ups. The system's wide range of payment methods has been critical for paying partners around the world without headaches. What I appreciate most is how seriously Tipalti treats global tax compliance, it untangles complex cross-border tax rules, handles correct withholding and produces the necessary tax forms. The supplier-facing portal improves our communication with vendors and lets them manage their payment and tax details. On top of that, Tipalti's emphasis on security and regulatory compliance gives us peace of mind with sensitive financial information. Overall Tipalti has refined our finance processes and freed team resources for more strategic work. We strongly recommend Tipalti to businesses aiming to improve their financial operations.
Cons
I did find that getting Tipalti set up can involve a fairly steep learning curve and complicated integrations which may be time-consuming and demand extra resources. Still, in my view it's completely worth it.

Tipalti shifts responsibility for POs away from our A/P team and hands it to requesters through an Amazon-style shopping cart interface. This frees our A/P staff to focus on higher-value tasks, cuts down on back-and-forth email for example. 'please receipt this, 'why', 'what am I receipting', 'where' and 'how much is the invoice', etc., improves the accuracy of accruals and gives requestors a complete, holistic view that even includes BvA.
Cons
There aren't major dislikes but I do have some constructive suggestions. documentation needs to be clearer and consistently maintained because it's still obvious that Approve.com offers a very different experience compared to A/P Hub. It would also be helpful to have visibility into the product roadmap and a way for users like me to upvote features or changes.

I don't waste hours anymore writing manual checks, chasing signatures, stuffing envelopes and then filing and sorting the paperwork. I really appreciate that tax ID numbers get verified so I avoid having 1099s rejected at year-end. Plus I like that vendors can onboard themselves.
Cons
the main snag has been support. sometimes when I reach out, it would be quicker and more effective to talk by phone or have a video call with someone rather than exchange emails back and forth. Having said that, I have found customer service to be quite responsive overall.

I found the team at Tipalti to be deeply engaged, intelligent, responsive and genuinely enjoyable to work with, productive and easy to coordinate with. Our implementation was complex and its scope kept expanding yet the Tipalti team stayed committed to us, even when we were likely fairly difficult to work with.
Cons
While nothing is flawless, we don't have anything I'd call a material 'dislike.' Every implementation comes with tradeoffs and rolling out Tipalti was no exception. Any small issues I might have had were completely overshadowed by how engaged the Tipalti team was in finding creative solutions and that collaborative effort ultimately resulted in beneficial and sometimes lasting, improvements to our own internal processes in some cases.

From my experience Tipalti speeds up AP processing and keeps it accurate. I can quickly pull up past transactions and when something doesn't match, I can easily talk it over with my team.
Cons
I have noticed that sync errors can pop up incorrectly and PO matching sometimes forces me to refresh before the lines attach. I have also seen that Tipalti tends to be proactive about fixing the problems it discovers.
