Secure and easy to manage

Pros

I like the alerts and how secure they are when a payment is en route. Since they upgraded the SMS notifications, I am much more at ease with the whole process. For managing my vendors, I find it an excellent solution for handling bank details and it lets them carry out their own follow-ups within the platform.

Cons

It felt like ages before they fixed the two-step verification and I don't love having to get a code every 30 days. A more permanent verification option would be preferable. Adding a simpler way to contact support would also help a lot with tracking issues and supporting both me as the user and the partners I work with.

Easy to use and organized

Pros

One thing I appreciate about Tipalti is how simple it is to upload and store all the documents I need and the interface is clean and user-friendly so I can quickly find what I am looking for.

Cons

My only frustration is that when I email customer support it can sometimes take quite a while before I get a reply which slows things down for me.

Great visibility for suppliers

Pros

I find Tipalti's web portal helps suppliers get set up and track invoices and it keeps them informed about which stage each invoice is in throughout the process.

Cons

For our team, we occasionally run into synchronization problems between Tipalti and our accounting system which can cause disruptive issues for our workflows.

my company depend on it a lot

Pros

Honestly I cannot find much not to like. The global scope of its payment settlements combined with a easy, streamlined workflow means my company can depend on Tipalti, freeing up time and resources so we can focus on scaling and other priorities.

Cons

the only real downside is tracking the slower payouts. I have noticed returns can be sluggish at times and I wish the tracing and reporting around those slower refunds were a bit more responsive when I request them.

Smooth onboarding and responsive support

Pros

The pre-sales engagement is excellent, onboarding easy and fast and the interface clean and simple, plus their support responds quickly.

Cons

There were unexpected issues like when introducing the tax module suddenly prevented paying any payees and I wish the reporting tools were easier to use.

Clunky and outdated experience

Pros

I am pleased with the range of integrations it provides and I find that it covers our essential requirements without issue.

Cons

When I have to look through several invoices at once, it drives me nuts, the user experience feels awkward and the cursor keeps triggering tooltip windows all the time. I am also annoyed that the payee lookup requires the exact stored spelling, it won't offer close matches. For instance, searching for John Doe yields nothing if the record is JohnDoe which makes searches fail completely. Overall the whole thing comes across as pretty outdated.

Easy automation that saves time

Pros

I find it really easy to use and integrate into our workflow. It automates so many of our tasks, vendors can submit invoices directly, Tipalti scans them before they reach us and it auto-fills a lot of the information. Overall it saves our team a lot of time. It also stores records, vendor info, W9s and more. On top of that, I have experienced consistently great support.

Cons

As someone who approves bills, I cannot see the full GL account field because it gets cut off and that's something Tipalti needs to address. The reporting tool is also pretty confusing in my experience, we end up pulling several different reports and stitching them together to get the full picture. I would love an option to customize reports to avoid that extra work. The Payments tab should show invoice details so the person approving payments can quickly scan and understand what they're approving. Right now, we cannot search by the invoice number, only by the reference code which forces us to look that up ahead of time. Another frustrating limitation is that once an invoice is processed, none of the information can be changed, not even by an approver or manager. That has caused problems for us because if something was booked incorrectly we have to open a support ticket and ask them to make the correction which slows everything down.

Payment management has been amazing

Pros

We've been incredibly happy with how Tipalti went for us. Before this, we migrated from a mid-market bank's treasury management system handling wires and ACH to Bill.com which felt like a big improvement in user-friendliness and visibility. Frankly though, Tipalti blows Bill.com out of the water by a whole magnitude. Managing payments is so much simpler now and having clear visibility into each payment has truly transformed how we operate, it's been a genuine game-changer for our team.

Cons

There's nothing I dislike about the product right now but I would like to see a dashboard that gives more detailed metrics about how we use it.

Powerful features, clunky experience

Pros

Tipalti is a great platform that includes pretty much every payment feature our team could possibly need.

Cons

the user experience leaves a lot to be desired and I am not only referring to visual design. The way the system handles errors, the password reset flows, outgoing email notifications and similar processes are clunky. We've run into multiple issues while trying to send payments that forced us to contact Tipalti support for assistance, the interface doesn't feel user-friendly enough for us to troubleshoot and resolve those problems on our own.

Easy payments and quick reconciliation

Pros

With it is it is easy to send and receive payments to vendors and it costs less than many competing packages, with reconciliations that are fast and efficient.

Cons

Occasionally I run into glitches and the error messages don't give me enough detail, I also wish it offered more options for customization.

Helpful support and simple design

Pros

What I really appreciate is the support, I have always received a response and follow-up and Eileen has been fantastic. She proactively reaches out and is consistently available to answer my questions. I also enjoy the platform's clean, easy design, it's simple to navigate and makes it easy to locate information in several different ways.

Cons

One thing that bothers me is that there's only a wire transfer option to fund my account which is pricey. Also, I haven't been able to export or fully automate my reporting because I am not on the online version of QuickBooks yet.

Easy payouts and clean reporting

Pros

One feature I really value is the ability to detect whether a payee has created more than one record, this helped me uncover a number of payees who were essentially committing fraud before I paid the bulk of their invoices. The interface is easy and uncluttered which makes daily use pleasant. Detailed reports export cleanly and I routinely upload them into my accounting software for simple bookkeeping and reconciliations. The overall system is extremely user-friendly and I appreciate that we remain the ones managing all vendor bank information. The invoices/receipt capture option also saves me time because I no longer need to chase a copy from the vendor.

Cons

Getting the payment details set up isn't the most user-friendly process and it took a bit of fiddling at first. After I have walked through it once though, our vendors seem to be able to find their way around the system on their own.

user friendly and reliable

Pros

I love that it produces quick reports, supports self-billing and is really easy to use, it provides full, detailed payment information for each specific person. Uploading payments is the simplest method I have encountered and the support team is always prompt.

Cons

Honestly I have no complaints whatsoever, there's nothing negative I can point to about my experience.

way too simple and efficient

Pros

The platform is really easy to navigate and because I manage all the publishers bank details myself it saves a lot of time, plus the invoice feature cuts out the hassle of chasing one from the publisher too.

Cons

I would like to see a few improvements, like being able to upload an Excel file that targets only the publisher I want to pay instead of selecting them manually. Also, when I mark a payment as paid manually, I want the option to set the payment date rather than it defaulting to the invoice marked date.

Frustrating billing limitations

Pros

Whenever I need help, the support team responds quickly, seems very knowledgeable and always feels friendly and genuinely helpful.

Cons

I am currently dealing with a few different errors and I have noticed I cannot edit a bill unless I un-approve it and then go through the entire approval cycle again, also, it's not configured to handle proper netting or offsets.

offer great support and flexibility

Pros

After spending roughly two months comparing different global payment platforms to find one that fit my specific requirements, I settled on Tipalti because they responded to my emails promptly and arranged a phone call at a time that worked for me. Whenever I have run into setup or ongoing maintenance problems, their team has resolved them quickly. I even asked for features that weren't initially offered and their development team implemented those changes for me.

Cons

I have noticed the user portal doesn't look as polished or flashy as the admin portal which is a bit disappointing. My initial tries to upload our logo produced the wrong resolution and while that was mostly my mistake it took a while to troubleshoot. I also ran into problems verifying my phone number which I fixed by obtaining a new SIM from my mobile carrier. In an urgent situation Tipalti support even used their own cell phone number to help me get back into the system immediately.

Great for compliance and payroll

Pros

it really cuts down the headache of PCI compliance and I appreciate that it consistently pays our employees on time while taking care of tax details in an user-friendly way.

Cons

Wish the integration capabilities with Bank of America were stronger since that's the bank we usually prefer at our company and it would streamline our workflows.

Great support and smooth help

Pros

The customer service is outstanding, the support team replies to my requests very quickly. In my experience they typically respond within an hour to a few hours which I really appreciate.

Cons

When our CFO goes through submitted payments, there's no fast way for him to see what each invoice is for because the invoice description isn't displayed, he has to open every invoice one by one. Reporting itself feels awkward, I frequently need to pull a couple of separate reports just to assemble the full picture of what's happening. Another pain point is that once an invoice is processed it cannot be edited, not even by the final approver. That creates extra work because we end up manually updating the invoice description in NetSuite and then asking the Tipalti team to correct it on their side. On top of that, the Pending scan stage takes longer than it should which slows things down for us.
