“Great for global payments
Pros
What I like most about Tipalti is that it handles global payments which a lot of other platforms don't offer, plus approving invoices is easy and I can even approve them directly via email which I find really convenient.
Cons
From my understanding about this software, it's relatively new to the market and seems to be moving forward in the right direction. That said there are a few limitations I notice in Tipalti. the sync logs don't get captured reliably, there isn't an invoice replacement feature and reporting could use more polish and attention.

“Easy and seamless to use
Pros
Over the course of working at two different companies that use Tipalti, I have found the interface extremely easy and user-friendly. The approve from email option is a real time-saver, it lets teams approve invoices quickly and also handle complicated steps like returning invoices to AP with notes, all from inside an email or browser pop-up. I also appreciate Tipalti's great support for paying international vendors, a feature many other billing platforms simply lack, too.
Cons
Overall I haven't run into any major pain points or issues from my perspective as a user, it's been quite seamless and easy to use.

Pros
When I use it, it submits payments and invoices extremely fast and it keeps the invoice details accurate.
Cons

“Love the efficiency gains
Pros
From my experience Tipalti isn't only an outstanding platform for AP teams to handle the entire end-to-end payables workflow, it also serves as an excellent self-onboarding tool for publishers. I have noticed dramatic time savings and measurable efficiency gains since we adopted Tipalti and at this point I cannot imagine managing things any other way.
Cons
I don't think this is strictly a Tipalti problem but I have observed that our engineering team sometimes generates invoices before publishers have finished onboarding which ends up causing NetSuite synchronization errors. We're actively working on a fix internally to prevent those premature invoice creations and the resulting sync failures.

Pros
I found it easy to implement and appreciate the clear modular separation of functions.
Cons
That modular setup though, has made it a bit confusing for me to determine which customizations are necessary for the modules we've implemented and just so you know, we're only using the payment module.

“helps in fast payouts
Pros
With Tipalti, I usually get paid very quickly once the payer sends funds, it rarely delays and I appreciate that its fees are lower than most other services I have used.
Cons
However I have noticed inconsistency. sometimes transactions clear immediately yet on other occasions it takes a couple of business days, even when it's a recurring payment between the same sender and me which can be frustrating.

As a creative, numbers and finances are what I dislike most and Tipalti has become the tool that handles that crucial part of our business every day. It helps my team keep tabs on freelancers and exactly what we're being billed and the best thing is it organizes all the essential documents we need at year-end into a single place.
Cons
If I could change one thing, I'd make it much simpler to view invoices directly from the payment-history area, right now accessing invoice details from that section is clunky and could be far more easy.

“Easy to use with solid support
Pros
One thing I really appreciate is being able to approve things straight from my email instead of having to log into Tipalti. Sending invoices by email works well for me too. The support team has always been approachable and quick to help. I also value the Intacct integration. Because I work in Tipalti every day, I find the interface fairly easy to get around.
Cons
My main gripe is how long payments can take to process, it's been the biggest letdown for me. I have also run into occasional synchronization glitches so a few bills haven't migrated into Intacct the way they were supposed to.

“Quick, smooth and reliable
Pros
It's fast and easy to use. I used to have a hard time getting invoices returned quickly and this has finally resolved that problem for me.
Cons
Our accounting admin won't allow us to add invoices or additional expense account lines, even though I am convinced the program definitely has those capabilities.

Pros
I really value how Tipalti increases payment visibility and transparency across the whole organization and it also allows me to bring particular approvers into the loop so that payment requests can be processed more promptly.
Cons
When I click the link in an approver's email from Tipalti, it opens a browser window that only shows the message thread instead of the full invoice review page. Because of that I cannot view the approver messages and the invoice side-by-side to cross-reference details so I usually have to hunt down my original invoice submission to figure out what needs fixing or where the issue is.

I appreciate the tracking, historical records and audit approval workflow, I find the system easy to use and very easy.
Cons

“Terrible service and messy onboarding
Pros
I really like the vendor portal for collecting vendor payment details and tax information, it captures everything I need at onboarding. The sales team did a great job of painting a picture of upcoming features and what the product roadmap looks like. The OCR prefill works accurately for documents although in my experience it usually takes about 24 hours before the fields are populated.
Cons
My onboarding was incomplete and dragged out much longer than it should have been, despite Tipalti warning us about a potential fee of a few thousand dollars if we weren't fully implemented within 90 days. Important items they were supposed to set up, like a second admin account, a subcompany and ACH instructions, were never configured even though those were explicitly required to avoid the failure to onboard quickly charge. We had to escalate each of those separately because different teams handled them and our onboarding manager had handed us off to production support before the contracted services were actually implemented. The platform does move money but the process isn't user-friendly and can be misleading in many cases. Apart from the vendor portal which reliably captures CIP and payment details during onboarding, the rest of the product feels like Bill.com/Brex/Chase Billpay wrapped in a more confusing workflow. We completed a survey and spent an hour on a call with a C-suite executive to explain our problems, he opened with a comment about going around the executive team in a circle to decide who gets stuck with these calls and it was my turn which did not instill confidence. Eight weeks later a CS rep followed up and basically pointed us to the online help docs describing how the system is supposed to work. I sent him screenshots that were already three months old proving the system wasn't functioning as the documentation described. Service is poor and ticket resolutions take weeks. A particularly bad example was when we tried to pay an international vendor. Tipalti Risk requested CIP documents which we provided the same day and the vendor was marked as payable in the system, great or so we thought. In reality they weren't truly approved despite the payable status. After a week of unanswered messages and no returned calls, I was asked to resend the CIP documents. Because the vendor needed funds, I paid them outside of Tipalti and then asked Risk to cancel the Tipalti payment to avoid duplication while it sat in quarantine. Support responded that they couldn't process the payment cancellation until CIP documents were received, even though those had already been uploaded and the vendor had been marked payable. Rather than canceling the payment, they asked for the CIP docs again and even removed the payable status. It ultimately took 10 days to reach the outcome I had originally requested and they handled it the wrong way. Edit three months later. after more issues with payments being blocked or duplicated by Tipalti's Risk team, we decided to move away from the platform. We requested a refund for the remaining six months of our contract, Tipalti delayed or didn't respond for three months before issuing a refund for only three months and refused to backdate it, citing legal approval delays. They responded to this review initially but when I followed up they stopped responding altogether.
