meetings are easier now...

Pros

Since rolling out MS Teams across our organization, we've seen a lot of value from it. It's very simple to use and flexible enough for presenters to schedule, invite and run virtual meetings without complications. Team members can also join meetings quickly using IDs and passcodes, whether they are on the app or using a web browser. MS Teams has also worked really well for hosting large live events like webinars and conferences without any hassle. The HD video and audio quality are excellent and the audio/video settings are well arranged making it simple to choose a preferred camera or microphone, reduce background noise, set virtual backgrounds and adjust volume. On browsers, the expanded video grid view makes meetings feel more interactive and inclusive because you can see multiple participants at the same time. Another big plus is how it keeps meeting recaps organized. Recordings, shared content and meeting notes are brought together in a way that makes it easier to find important information later. Setting up meeting rooms during a session has also been incredibly useful. It creates separate channels for different topics or issues which makes discussions more focused and much easier to resolve.

Cons

Microsoft Teams has become our top productivity tool. We've gained so many benefits from using it and while there are occasional challenges here and there, the advantages clearly outweigh the limitations.

works well

Pros

Having everything connected across the workplace has been really helpful especially when I create a meeting in Teams and it automatically syncs with my Outlook calendar.

Cons

One thing that could be better is the video calling capacity for webinars. We've had a hard time setting up larger livestream-style meetings with more attendees.

dated messaging issues

Pros

Both desktop and mobile versions are convenient. And getting it up and running doesn't take much effort. It's widely used, installation is fairly simple and deployment is simple enough.

Cons

A few parts feel unnecessarily complicated especially something as basic as adding a phone number to contacts. I also don't understand why usernames from people I'm not connected with appear in search results at random. It makes me wonder whether anyone who knows my username can just find me that way. I paid for a Skype number but there's an error whenever I try to send text messages so I can receive them but not send any. Also, it doesn't seem like much has changed, there have basically been no updates and it feels the same as it did five years ago.

teams makes meetings effortless

Pros

Using Microsoft Teams has been incredibly simple for us. We rely on it every week for meetings and it also works really well for interviews. Even employees who aren't very comfortable with technology are able to use Microsoft Teams without any trouble.

Cons

It handles what we need very well. The only concern is the usual privacy questions that seem to come up with Microsoft products in general but we haven't run into any actual issues ourselves.

Good chat tools

Pros

Having background support, multi-user screen sharing and a chat option for people who don't have a mic makes this really practical to use. Those features cover a lot of different meeting needs and make collaboration much better.

Cons

The only real downside has been occasional connection issues.

top pick

Pros

Across our organization, Microsoft Teams has become the go-to platform for collaboration. Since most of our tasks are team-based and split across group projects, it has been a very user-friendly companion for working together. The integration with Microsoft 365 apps is a big plus because it lets us import and export data between those apps without hassle. Both one-on-one and group chats make it simple to message teammates right away for feedback or discussions. It also allows me to share files directly with coworkers. Whenever I need to concentrate on a task, I can mute conversations and return to them later. We've also set up separate chat channels for different topics which helps us handle issues more efficiently. Keeping only relevant messages inside each channel saves a lot of time that would otherwise be spent scrolling through unnecessary clutter. Teams gives us everything we need to collaborate live in real time. Having access to Microsoft apps in one place, along with calls and video conferences, helps us work much more efficiently. The mobile app is also very convenient and lets us join meetings comfortably from anywhere instead of needing to be in the same location. Also, Microsoft Teams connects with many other tools which makes file sharing and workflow management even better.

Cons

Honestly I'm satisfied with pretty much everything in Microsoft Teams especially because it keeps everything I need in one place, messages, meetings, notes and documents. I can stay connected with teammates in real time which makes collaboration fast and convenient.

solid team communication

Pros

Teams is basically the one tool my team and I use to stay in touch digitally, whether we're in the office or working remotely. By far, it's the simplest way for us to communicate and keep conversations going.

Cons

Every now and then, notifications come through late and since it relies on local Microsoft servers, outages seem to happen fairly often.

well-designed

Pros

Covers everything I need in one place, you can chat, make voice calls and join meetings with Teams and it all runs without issues or unnecessary complications.

Cons

One thing that could be better is the notification system. It would help to have more distinct notification options so different alerts could be managed separately.

has everything!

Pros

One thing that really stands out with Microsoft Teams is how well it connects with the whole Microsoft 365 ecosystem. It makes working together on documents, spreadsheets and presentations very convenient without having to leave the platform. Keeping chats, video meetings, file sharing and work tools all in one place cuts down the constant app switching which saves time and helps keep things moving efficiently. It also works well for different communication styles, whether that means scheduled meetings for more formal discussions or quick spontaneous chats for day-to-day check-ins. Also, the video and audio quality is consistently dependable, even during bigger meetings which makes remote collaboration feel much more reliable.

Cons

At the same time, Microsoft Teams can feel a little overwhelming especially for new users or for people who are not very tech-savvy. It offers a lot of functionality but that also means there is a noticeable learning curve and it can sometimes be unclear where certain settings or tools are located. The app can also be somewhat heavy on system resources so on older computers or when several demanding programs are running at once, there can be occasional lag or slowdowns. Overall it performs well but these smaller issues can interrupt the experience from time to time.

looks good but buggy

Pros

The interface is appealing and when everything is working properly, it performs really well. Being able to set up teams and channels for different groups is a nice feature especially with the added benefit of storing files in specific spaces.

Cons

Unfortunately, there always seems to be some kind of bug or issue with Teams. It can be slow and it doesn't always alert me to new messages which is frustrating.

file sharing hurts with data loss

Pros

At the university, we use Microsoft Teams as our main collaboration platform and it's helpful having so many tools in one place. Sharing files with colleagues works well and being able to work on documents together definitely saves time. I also appreciate that it can be extended with plenty of add-ons. For instance, we installed the Tasks app which lets us assign work right away and keep track of who is responsible for what. Having a mobile app is another plus.

Cons

Even though the software is decent overall, there are two major reasons I don't really want to keep using it. First, the Linux support is very poor. Second, files sometimes disappear which is a serious issue. The interface also feels slow. Recently some of our files went missing, including pictures from the teams we had created. On another occasion, when I tried using the Office app inside Teams, I entered a title and autosave immediately deleted it. I originally used Teams because it was the official system at our school but now I'm beginning to think we should move to a different platform. Frequent file backups are also necessary.

free and simple to use

Pros

Keeping calendars and shifts organized here makes it simple for the whole team to stay updated. Day-to-day activities and internal communication are handled really well and it's helpful that everything can be reviewed later when needed. Meetings run nicely and call performance has also been reliable.

Cons

On Android, the app feels a bit slower at times compared with Windows and some other operating systems.
