easy to pull up data

Pros

What I love is how simple it is for me to enter and pull up information. Because of that I can always tell exactly where our projects are at and I can generate reports focused on specific projects whenever I need them.

Cons

I did find that uploading photos into a specific job or daily log was a bit more complex in the app. On a desktop it was simple and much easier to do.

No clarity on the unknown features

Pros

It comes packed with features that I can learn to use and build a workflow around.

Cons

There are too many unfamiliar features and I didn't find the tutorials very helpful.

Helps me meet deadlines

Pros

simple interface

excellent for collaboration

Pros

I'm really into the communication side. Having every team able to talk and collaborate cuts down on meetings and lets us focus on real work. I also appreciate that QuickBooks syncs with the platform which simplifies a lot of tedious manual accounting tasks that were hard to keep up with.

Cons

At first I felt overwhelmed because the system is so massive. It can feel like you're trapped in a sea of tutorials and training videos. Thankfully the support team has been very patient and walked me through all the features and little tricks.

Well laid out homescreen

Pros

The homescreen is lovely and it's arranged like a white dry-erase board. The customer portal feature is really neat.

Cons

The pricing and the excessive setup time frustrated me. I had signed up for the trial hoping to save my company time during setup but it just gobbled up my days and added more work to set up.

adapts easily to changes

Pros

I've found the estimating features excellent. The spreadsheet-like layout makes it simple to tweak line items on the fly, while some programs lock your estimate and make it hard to respond to unexpected changes. This one doesn't suffer from those restrictions.

Cons

After getting started I was really put off by the pricing structure. They lure you in with a low rate for the first two months while you spend countless hours on onboarding and integrations and once you're effectively locked in they raise the price.

Pros

Reliable product

Pros

At my company, my teammates and I really like Buildertrend because its project-tracking features are reliable and easy to use. It also plugs into the third-party platform we rely on, Salesforce so it quickly became the clear choice for our organization's needs.

Cons

At the moment I don't have any significant complaints to share. This software fulfills our requirements right now so I can't point to any real negatives.

Friendly team

Pros

It makes it simple for me to access all project information and the individual jobs I'm working on so I can quickly view details, share them with colleagues, make updates and save records whether I'm on my PC or using the mobile app. Over time it has noticeably improved our organization's ability to stay organized and has made it possible for our team to manage more than one job simultaneously without confusion.

Cons

I didn't run into any technical issues while using the software and I was able to find all the information I required without any trouble. Their customer support is friendly and fast. They respond courteously to questions and help resolve problems for me in a very short time.

capable app

Pros

On my phone and tablet, I've been really impressed by how capable the app is. The Daily Diary and To-Do lists stand out as my favorite tools and the project scheduling works quite well too.

Cons

I find the Cost Reporting function to be awkward and very time-consuming to work with. In my view it could use a lot more simplification to speed things up.

checking daily schedule and records is easy

Pros

As someone who works on-site a lot, I rely on it because it gives me the freedom to pull up project data and documents anytime and from anywhere. Since my team and I spend so much time on job sites, having this software on my phone makes checking the daily schedule and records effortless, keeping me connected to every detail and letting me continually report on the real progress happening out on site. It also makes it simple for me to share information with all the crew members which helps everyone coordinate and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Cons

I've found it simple to use, with subscription tiers that feel accessible to a wide range of users and in my experience I haven't run into any technical issues while using it. Whenever I do have questions, their support team is quick to respond and helpful, ready to walk me through solutions and provide whatever assistance I need.

Too complicated

Pros

I'm really impressed by how well they promote their product and put on an appealing demo. The platform offers a solid set of capabilities, assuming you can look past its awkward flow and the absence of basic, common-sense usability.

Cons

From my experience in the software industry, this product is crammed with functionality yet usability seems to have been an afterthought. I lived through the shift from legacy hardware to SaaS so I value a few high-level things above all else. Strong security, minimal downtime, extreme simplicity for end users and meaningful feature functionality without sacrificing a friendly interface. In my view, if someone can't open a piece of software for the very first time and get it to work without frustration, it has limited practical value. That's why many vendors limit trials to 30 or 14 days, it either fits your needs quickly or it doesn't. If the execution is clumsy and the UI is clunky so you can't figure it out, it isn't worth the investment. I feel this company has leaned heavily into marketing and visibility even with popular channels like "The Build Show" instead of putting enough effort into core development. Make it so simple that a virtual assistant in the Philippines with no prior background can use it comfortably and then I'd consider giving it a proper trial. Also, the mobile app needs a complete rewrite. In its current state it's unusable. I'm moving on to other options.

Has been a lifesaver

Pros

I've found this software to be a real game-changer! It took me a little while to get comfortable with all the features but it's been invaluable for keeping our projects organized. Their customer support is brilliant. They reply fast and actually help troubleshoot issues.

Cons

For me, the mobile version still needs work. There are several features that don't behave the same as on the web app. I wish the steps for entering each customer's contract information were simplified because the current process is both tedious and rather temperamental.

Love schedules, To-Dos and Job Logs

Pros

The three features that made the biggest immediate difference are Schedules, To-Dos and Job Logs. Schedules are simple to set up, easy to view and track and I love that they can be accessed and edited from multiple places (whether I'm looking at a specific project or the overall Task Manager view). Printing multi-project views from the Task Manager can be a little awkward in terms of formatting but the ability to output those views is functionally essential and otherwise works well. To-Dos feel simple yet powerful. I can batch-create a bunch during a project review meeting, then add more detail afterward (attachments, comments tagging other users to pull them in, etc.) and set realistic due dates. That follow-through and accountability is easy to maintain and genuinely helpful for our workflow. Job Logs are crucial in commercial construction and they've been working well for our needs so far. Two things that would improve the experience (or maybe they exist and I just haven't figured them out yet) are dropdowns to pick which employees were onsite that day and the ability to attach files in addition to photos.

Cons

I'm still relatively new to using the program so a lot of the minor annoyances I notice now will likely disappear as I learn more features. Their customer service hotline has been terrific and the Search Help Center on Zendesk is a really useful resource if you prefer to troubleshoot things yourself.

Hard to use

Pros

I was sold this as an amazing product but in reality I found it really difficult to use.

Cons

For my estimating needs the software was more complex than necessary so I switched to another program that is far easier to use.
