“Love the project visibility
Pros
What I like most about it is the clear visibility it gives me into every project's status. I can keep everything tied to each job in one place which makes it especially useful for a construction company like ours. From my experience it's flexible enough to be adjusted around the way our business operates and I've found it very user friendly overall.
Cons
My main frustration is that the mobile app feels less user friendly than the desktop version. I've also noticed that pre-existing user roles can't really be deleted or edited which is limiting. Another thing that has been annoying for me is that once users are archived, their names still continue to appear in dropdown lists and in sections like the timeclock.

“User-friendly and quick to learn
Pros
I've found it really user friendly and as someone who was new to it, I was able to get around the system without much trouble. From the start, I felt comfortable moving through the different areas which made learning the software a lot less overwhelming for me.
Cons
One thing that stood out to me is that there are almost too many ways to look at selections or the budget. I noticed that each view gives slightly different details and the information is not always consistent between things like grid versus category or estimate versus total cost which can be confusing at times.

“Keeps everything organized
Pros
I use it to keep up with leads, stay on top of client communication, manage job scheduling and handle change orders without a lot of back and forth. It does a solid job of keeping those day-to-day processes organized and easier to follow.
Cons
What frustrates me is that customers often struggle to log in and figure out how to use the software in the first place. On top of that, the reporting is really weak. When I apply filters, I'm limited to past X number of days instead of being able to quickly pull the previous month so I end up manually setting the dates every single time. Most businesses need reports from the beginning of the month to the end and I feel like that should be built in. I also can't properly view leads by salesperson or by source for a specific time period which makes the reporting side feel much less useful than it should be.

“Offers a lot of depth
Pros
What I really appreciate about Buildertrend is how much depth the program offers. I can handle communication across our whole company and with subcontractors all in one place which has been incredibly useful for keeping everyone aligned. From my experience it's also fairly simple to use and I've been able to move through schedules, daily logs and to-do lists without much trouble.
Cons
What would make Buildertrend better for me is having a send button for subcontractors when I'm updating the schedule. As it works now, new dates get sent out before I've finished adjusting the full schedule and that creates confusion. I end up making several changes before everything is finalized since so many items are tied together and then subs reach out to me after receiving multiple notifications with different dates.

“Appreciate the scheduling feature
Pros
I love the scheduling feature especially being able to connect schedules directly to subcontractors. That keeps my subs updated automatically whenever anything changes which saves me a lot of back-and-forth. My customers also really enjoy the portal because they can check progress photos and stay informed throughout the job. Another thing I appreciate is that all communication stays attached to the project so I can find messages and updates much faster when I need them.
Cons
For smaller jobs, it might be fine but when I'm working on extensions or larger projects, it feels like there's too much data entry involved. Because of that, I find it more time-consuming than I'd like.

“Saves a lot of time
Pros
What stood out to me right away was how approachable this software feels, no matter your level of computer experience. I found the online tutorials incredibly helpful and they saved me a lot of time anytime I wasn't completely sure how to handle something. On the occasions when I needed extra help, the customer support team responded very quickly and always walked me through the steps clearly so I could get the task done. In our case, we also had a two-day training session with our representatives and I honestly felt that was invaluable. Another big benefit I've seen is that our subcontractors and vendors can log into the system themselves which has really reduced the amount of paperwork being passed around and helped me feel confident that everyone is looking at the latest project information. We also had a few company-specific needs that required some adjustments and from my experience that was handled without any trouble at all.
Cons
Honestly I don't have any major complaints. The only real thing is that it takes a little time to get comfortable with the way the system is organized and how everything flows at first. That said whenever I ran into a question after jumping in and actually using it, I was able to email or call customer support and get an answer almost immediately.

“They listen to feedback
Pros
it keeps the entire building process in one place which makes my day-to-day work much more manageable. From my experience the platform feels very user friendly and I also appreciate that their team genuinely seems interested in feedback and ways they can keep improving. The scheduling feature is one of my favorite parts and I rely on it every single day. On top of that, my clients have become huge fans of the software because they really value the transparency it gives them throughout the project.
Cons
Since Buildertrend does so many things well, I end up holding it to a really high standard. That's why it feels extra frustrating when I run into glitches or when I'm not able to upload a large batch of pictures successfully. In the grand scheme of things, those are pretty minor issues but because the rest of the platform works so well, I definitely notice them more than I otherwise would.

“Top-notch coordination for construction
Pros
Buildertrend feels like phenomenal software and honestly seems capable of replacing nearly every separate tool a construction company relies on. I understand that some people are hesitant about moving over to newer tech but once I actually invested the time to learn and use BT properly, everything started moving much faster and the coordination became incredibly strong. What I really appreciate is being able to give homeowners access so they can follow along with what is happening on the construction side. That alone saves me a lot of time and cuts down on stress because we usually do not have to keep explaining basic updates when they can simply log in and see the progress themselves.
Cons
On the downside, I still find the selections feature a bit limited and it can take me hours to get everything done there. In my opinion, having some kind of master template that could feed all of that information in would be a huge improvement if they add it later on. I have also run into the loading glitch, plus the issue where I need to click the X before I can search for another property. When I am trying to move through multiple properties quickly, that process turns into a chore because the page has to refresh so many times.

“smooth team and client communication
Pros
I've really liked how it lets me stay in touch with both my team members and my clients without any hassle. From my experience the communication feels very connected and consistent which makes day-to-day coordination much better.
Cons
One thing I do wish it offered is the option to message selected groups instead of having to click on individual people every single time. For me that would make the messaging feature much more convenient.

“Teamwork and daily logs shine
Pros
What I like most is how user-friendly it feels to use while still giving our company the tools we actually rely on every day. I've found the collaboration features especially helpful because they make teamwork much more organized and keep everyone on the same page. Daily logs have also been a big benefit for us and the bid packages are another feature I genuinely value since they help our process run better.
Cons
If I could change one thing, I'd want the option to archive bid packages whenever we have to rebid due to plan revisions. That would make things a lot cleaner on our end and help me manage updated versions more efficiently.

“Brings everything together
Pros
It pulls so many parts of our company into one place, from billing and plans to selections, change orders, scheduling and bidding. For us, it replaced several patched-together apps we had been relying on before which made everything feel much more organized and connected.
Cons
At the beginning, I honestly felt pretty overwhelmed. Even with phone support available, the overall scope of the program made it tough for me to know where to start. Once my office manager and I attended BTU though, we were finally able to work it into our daily operations successfully.

“Everyone stays in sync
Pros
In our organization, I need to keep a lot of teams and individuals on the same page and it has given us an excellent way to do that. Instead of printing out plans and selection sheets over and over, we just update it and everyone receives the same information at the same time. That has made communication much more consistent and helped our workflow feel far more connected.
Cons
From what I've seen, it does take a little time for new users to get comfortable with. When new carpenters or sales team members start using it, I've noticed they can feel somewhat overwhelmed at first while figuring out where everything is located. Once they spend some time in the system it gets better but the initial learning curve is definitely there.

“Wide range of features
Pros
It offers a lot of features. It gives me a lot of tools to work with and I really appreciate how it helps me stay in touch with clients more efficiently. I've found that communication feels much more organized because of it which has made a noticeable difference in my workflow.
Cons
I can't keep two tabs open on the same computer at the same time. In my case, that limitation can be frustrating when I'm trying to switch between tasks or compare information and it definitely slows me down a bit.

“Helpful logs and client visibility
Pros
What I find especially useful in Buildertrend is the daily logs feature because it gives me one reliable place to record job site activity for a specific day, including weather, photos, documents and other important events. I also like using the tagging feature since it makes those logs much more useful when I need to pull up days that included inspections. The owner invoices and job price summary tools have also been very valuable for our clients especially when they want a quick snapshot of how much they have already spent and what costs are still left.
Cons
My biggest frustration has been with the estimating feature because it still feels pretty limited. Compared with the system we used before, I feel like it is a step backward in this area. When I work with a large number of line items, the software has trouble keeping up and does not handle that workload very well. We were even advised to reduce the number of line items to improve performance which honestly does not feel like a real solution.

“Fast jobsite communication
Pros
I've found it to be really efficient and it helps me communicate things quickly and clearly without any confusion. One thing I especially like is being able to snap photos of issues out on my job sites and upload them immediately so my bosses can look them over right away from their desktops back at the office. That kind of instant connection has been really valuable for me.
Cons
So far I honestly haven't come across any issues with the software. I can't say whether something might come up later but at this point, I haven't had any problems using it.

“simple to pick up
Pros
it feels simple to use in day-to-day work. It helps me keep selections organized without turning the process into extra work and I've found that communicating with clients is much clearer and more manageable because everything is in one place.
Cons
At this point, I honestly haven't come across anything about this software that I dislike. It has worked really well for what I need and I haven't run into any major issues or frustrations worth mentioning.

“All our leads finally organized
Pros
I really like having all of our leads managed in one place, along with detailed information and a full history for each one. It also helps me keep all the details for every job stored in a single location which I can quickly pull up whether I'm in the office or out at the job site.
Cons
One area that still feels clunky to me is the estimating section and I think it could be made more user-friendly. When I'm building an estimate, a few small things become frustrating, like how awkward it is to add a photo to the estimate. I've also noticed that I can't just insert a line item directly on the worksheet and instead I have to go into the formatting tab and move line items around which slows me down.

“Has tons of features...
Pros
It includes a wide range of features that cover just about everything needed to manage a construction project from beginning to end. Having everything gathered in one place has helped me save both time and money and it makes the whole process feel much more organized and efficient.
Cons
At the beginning, I felt the software was a bit complicated to figure out and not the easiest to navigate right away. Once I started using it more, it became clearer but there was definitely a learning curve when I first got started.

“Extensive set of amazing features
Pros
What I appreciate most about Buildertrend is how extensive the feature set is. It gives me one central place to handle operations so I don't have to rely on several different tools to keep the business running. Having everything tied together in one system has made day-to-day management feel much more organized and efficient.
Cons
From my side, the estimate module still feels like it could use more refinement and I've also found the messaging features need improvement. While the platform does a lot well overall, those two areas haven't felt as polished or as reliable as the rest of the system.
