“Well organized interface

Pros

The interface is really well-organized which made getting comfortable with the program much easier. Plus the support team was incredibly helpful throughout as they turned what I expected to be a stressful learning process into something far less intimidating. I honestly felt guided and supported every step of the way.

Cons

Installation on my computer took longer than I expected which was frustrating but fortunately the support team stepped in and helped me sort out the problems.

“Offers a vast range of features

Pros

As I get more comfortable using this program my work becomes noticeably easier and more enjoyable. It lets me adjust settings to my own workflow while offering a range of features that deliver accurate calculations. Whether I'm measuring simple lengths or tackling complicated formulas this app handles everything and then some.

Cons

Occasionally the program behaves a bit glitchy and I end up having to uninstall and reinstall it on my computer. Fortunately that fix is fast and simple so it doesn't disrupt my work for long.

“impressive functionality

Pros

I'm genuinely impressed by the program's functionality....it covers so much ground without feeling overwhelming. The level of detail it offers is remarkable yet everything remains clear and easy to navigate.

Cons

It takes quite a bit of learning before I can get the full benefit from it.

“ability to isolate job regions

Pros

What I really appreciate is the takeoff accuracy. It's consistently reliable and gives me confidence in my estimates. I also love that I can isolate specific regions of a job to focus on measurements more precisely which helps me avoid mistakes and work more efficiently.

Cons

The only drawback I can see is that some CAD files need to be reformatted before they work correctly and that extra step can slow me down.

“Exceptional customer service

Pros

I've found the software runs incredibly smoothly..no lag, no glitches just consistent performance. And their customer service? Simply phenomenal !! They're always responsive, genuinely helpful and truly go above and beyond whenever I need them.

Cons

There really isn't anything I've faced that I would count as my least favorite.

I'm really happy with the price. It's much better than what competing programs charge.

Cons

The 3D view's visuals feel a bit weak and could use more detail and I also find the way plans are vectorized to be buggy and in need of refinement.

“quick responses and easy training

Pros

I get quick responses and their training is really simple and easy to follow. The reports they produce are packed with useful details and give me precisely the information I'm after. Making rapid tweaks to existing take-offs is effortless. Whenever I have a question no matter how small they're willing to sit down with me and go through everything.

Cons

So far I haven't had any issues yet that interfere with my work or slow down how fast I can complete a take-off.

“Great Estimation Software, but Customer Service is a Nightmare

Pros

I found WinEst to be one of the most flexible estimation solutions on the market. With the ability to customize the labor rates, which cater to different client needs, and to be able to lay out a shift plan for custom crews, it has sped up our estimations. What I appreciate is that it has a very simple UI which displays all the information dynamically and lets you allocate the markups easily. It has a handy catalog of items with up-to-date prices, which is helpful. They present it neatly in the form of a tree that makes your estimates easier as you proceed further.

Cons

Unfortunately, it has the worst customer support. They offer a support plan, but for some reason you dont happen to own it, they will downright refuse to offer any kind of help. Whats even worse is that the support plan is overpriced. I dont feel comfortable paying to fix a problem that shouldnt be happening in the first place.

“Helps me compete against larger firms

Pros

Being a small business this tool has helped me compete for projects against larger firms.

Cons

We don't submit bids very frequently and because the system is quite sophisticated we have to refresh it more often than we'd like. Even though we see that as a drawback we usually call support so they can help us finish our projects.

“WinEx is Essential for the Construction Industry

Pros

The way it has several options for establishing the required quantities is excellent. And I cant stop praising how well-designed its 3-D Viewer is. It also allows me to print graphic forms of the estimate to submit with my bid proposal. They adapt to your manner of bidding, and the technical support is excellent.

Cons

It still doesnt have a robust remote access system. A license fob is required in order to work from home or any other device.

“Made My Job Much Easier

Pros

I use it for dirt estimating and found it to be very user friendly, having correct navigational tools, and use of colors and shades.

Cons

It is easy to work with but I would like some more video tutorials.

“Saves a lot of time

Pros

Technical assistance is by far the best I have ever seen. Using it for a couple of years I would highly recommend this to anyone working in construction.

Cons

It will cost you but if you can manage the expense, it is well worth the investment.

It allows plenty of flexibility in that we can create custom labor rates table for accurate estimations.

Not anyone can understand how to work on this software. Thankfully, their excellent training team made sure our operator gets trained.

“No Regrets, Great Software

I have always been a field guy only recently switching to estimating world and found WinEx to be the easiest program to learn. Outstanding technical support!

Cons

You will be needing a key to run the program and if you want to run it at another location the price for the second key is a bit too high.

“Good for Frequent Repeat Projects

It allows us to create and edit custom databases and save them for later. Whenever a similar project comes up, half of our work is already done. Time saved!

Cons

Visualization tools are not up to the mark. We had to use separate software for that.

“Versatile Software, but Reporting Needs Improvement

Great customer support. And markup feature is the best, it helps you manage any taxes you might need to account for, or any escalation in prices.

Cons

Crew tables cannot be imported or exported. Auto line numbering is frustrating, doesnt let you manually re-number them if you have added a new line.

They have a good track record when it comes to updates. The team is very focused on your individual experience and do try to add your requested features in a future update as soon as possible.

Cons

Summary report layout is cluttered and not very useful if you ask me.

“Powerful Yet User-Friendly

A very dynamic and simple interface. At one point, the catalogue tree actually helped me add an item which I was going to miss during the bidding process.

Cons

They have a great customer support, but only when you buy a customer support plan additionally.

We have landed so many jobs using WinEx we have lost count. Our mistakes have been minimal and profits have skyrocketed!

Time zone of WinExs main office is different from us. Difficult to get timely complaint response.

You gotta make sure the data you enter is all good and it will provide you with a very thorough and detailed report.

Cons

There is a lack of online resources so whenever you need help with something, you have to ring their customer support.
