CylanceProtect really works.
Pros

I appreciate the AI based detection from this reputable Canadian company. The protection feels like a set and forget solution.

Cons

I occasionally encounter false positives with more obscure software but it is easy to set global policies to remedy this.

Script Blocking and Machine Learning is CylancePROTECT's Strength
Pros

I find it easy to install and manage policies across thousands of assets in the corporate network. It supports various operating systems including Windows Linux and macOS. The ability to perform bulk quarantine for known threats is useful and setting up whitelists or exclusions is easy. The console for reporting and the oversight dashboard for tracking threats and malware families is quite simple.

Cons

Sometimes it results in false positives for the script module and managing exceptions can get tricky if one is not fully aware of the gaps introduced by whitelisting system paths where most malware runs. It could benefit from real-time sandbox capabilities like other competing products in the market.

This product will save your backside!
Pros

Setting up the application to endpoints is very simple and the cloud management makes handling deployments easy. The product is highly configurable to fit my needs and its malware detection and removal capabilities are exceptional.

Cons

Trying to configure the policies on my own can be a challenge. It is best to acquire the product from an MSSP to ensure proper setup and ongoing support.

Does a good job

I feel that our systems are well protected with BlackBerry Protect formerly Cylance and Optics.

Cons

The setup is a little complex with policies zones and rules but it is not unlike other similar products.

Great protection and effective
Pros

Using Cylance gives me confidence that my organization is safe from all threats. We have never faced an issue in over three years of use. Installation is easy and it has a minimal footprint which is great for our PCs.

Cons

Creating policies and exclusions is a bit clunky but once I figure it out it is manageable. It can have many false positives which are easily maintained through the portal.

Very good antivirus, server options are pretty opaque
Pros

In terms of catching infections this has been an excellent antivirus choice. Its aggressive response to threats from flash drives and email viruses has impressed me during our tests.

Cons

However when it decides to block individual non-malware packages or fails to update on the workstations the server options were pretty opaque and it took us longer to adjust settings than we would have liked.

CylanceProtect was great. Blackberry Protect? Not so much.
Pros

Cylance Protect is by all measures the best endpoint protection available. It delivers outstanding security for all our Windows and Mac endpoints.

Cons

Since Blackberry acquired them in 2019 the merging of the two companies has felt clumsy. The Cylance website dashboard was clean and somewhat easy to use while the Blackberry website looks outdated. Mac OS Big Sur is being released this week yet the endpoint client for it which should have been available with Catalina is still not out. False positives for Adobe CS updates seem endless and I will be looking at alternative options when our licensing expires next summer.

Effective, maybe a little too aggressive out of the box
Pros

Whitelisting is quite easy and it appears to be a comprehensive advanced anti malware solution. I appreciate the robust reporting features and the configuration options are sufficient for our frequent needs.

Cons

Out of the box there were many false positives. It interfered with some MS Azure monitoring tools SolarWinds and even bricked SQL Management Studio for a few users.

Leaves something to be desired
Pros

It is lightweight and easy to install. Configuration is simple and the dashboard is nice. The support for both Mac and Windows covers all our devices.

Cons

There are lots of false positives and it has not caught anything notable. It can be frustrating to constantly manage the whitelist.

AI Based Incredible AV
Pros

Our organization previously used Trend Micro for antivirus but signature based solutions can easily be bypassed. We experienced infections that were detected too late such as ransomware due to delays in signature updates. Since installing Cylance we have not had a single infection. Its AI algorithms can analyze a programs behavior before it runs and determine if it is malicious. A significant advantage is that it only runs one initial background scan and then checks real time items as they open keeping its RAM and processor usage incredibly low and installation easy.

Cons

It is more expensive than traditional antivirus but it is the most important security function on any system. You pay for what you get. The initial setup differs from traditional antivirus as you must run it in test mode to catch false positives and whitelist scripting folders. There are certain restrictions on folders or files with full control from the "everyone" security group.

Cylance is one of the best malware protection tools for small businesses
Pros

Cylance is very thorough regarding what types of applications are allowed to run on my endpoints. It not only secures files but also monitors processes to ensure they do not execute dangerous code such as a stack pivot.

Cons

It can sometimes be a bit overzealous, quarantining legitimate tools and files that appear suspicious simply because they are not in its database or labeled as "PUP."

Comprehensive enterprise protection
Pros

So far it seems very effective. I enjoy being able to manage and monitor suspicious activities or whitelist applications for all the machines I administer. It is not overly intrusive and is resource friendly.

Cons

It took a little while to tune it in to avoid blocking too many things. Some apps required help from support and it took a few days to figure out why they were blocked.
