SynthEyes Features

SynthEyes applies machine learning to automate the creation of masks, a task that usually requires significant manual effort. The feature detects the edges of objects and carries the mask smoothly through each frame, maintaining accuracy even when objects move in complex ways. This process produces cleaner 2D and 3D tracking data, reducing the time required for rotoscoping.

See How It Works

Multi-Export provides a single interface for exporting tracking data in multiple formats simultaneously. Export settings are saved, so users do not need to configure them again for each project, ensuring consistent results. This feature simplifies the transfer of data to different compositing and 3D software, making the process more efficient.

The Workflow Presets Manager organizes project settings into layers that can be applied at different levels such as built-in defaults, facility-wide standards, user preferences, or individual scenes. This system helps maintain consistency across projects while allowing for adjustments to meet specific needs. It also reduces the time required to set up new projects by avoiding repetitive configuration.

Project Tag Manager automates the organization of files and folders by generating paths based on custom templates. This reduces the need for repeated manual input when saving scenes, exports, and assets. Keeping project files consistently organized supports a cleaner and more manageable workflow.

See How It Works

SynthEyes includes a pre-built 3D head mesh designed to assist with detailed facial tracking when scans of actors are not available. This mesh provides a ready-made model to track close-up shots with greater accuracy, which fits well into visual effects pipelines and helps artists handle complex facial movements without having to start from scratch.

Must-have software

Pros

One of the best features to me is how it simulates the movement of a real camera to create 3D virtual camera motions.

Cons

Compared to simpler or open source tracking systems, I feel like the fully featured versions can be a bit expensive for individual users.

Simply amazing

Pros

It helps me find people when I lose track of them and it is really easy to use.

Cons

The graphics feel outdated to me so I think they should make improvements in this area. And it would be much better if they made it more affordable.
