Our experience with SalesLeap: approximately $45,000 spent, $0 in closed business

Pros

good concept in theory

Cons

I would strongly caution any founder considering SalesLeap, especially if the 200% ROI Guarantee is a major reason you’re considering signing. We signed up for a 6-month SalesLeap program, with a 200% ROI Guarantee measured over 12 months. We ultimately spent approximately $45,000 with SalesLeap. The result? $0 in closed business attributable to their system. And the problems started almost immediately. It took SalesLeap’s team nearly two months of a six-month program just to get everything properly up and running. During that period, I was personally following up almost daily waiting for things on their side to be completed. We repeatedly heard explanations about “warming up email accounts” and other technical reasons for the delays. Our impression was much simpler: they did not have sufficient resources to properly support all of their clients. And you know what? That can happen. Companies grow too fast. Teams get overwhelmed. You enter a market that turns out to be harder than expected. A strategy doesn’t work. Own it. That’s actually the biggest issue I have with our SalesLeap experience. SalesLeap acknowledged to us on multiple occasions that they had underestimated how difficult the construction technology market would be. We respected that. What became increasingly frustrating was the quality and quantity of leads. Many were simply not good enough, and there were periods where there weren’t even enough quality leads for our team to work effectively. We raised these issues repeatedly. Instead of seeing the situation materially turn around, we kept hearing explanations and were repeatedly presented with opportunities to spend more money on additional services. At the end of the process, the number that matters is incredibly simple: Approximately $45,000 spent with SalesLeap. $0 in closed business generated through their system. For context, our overall business grew approximately 90% during the same period. So the issue wasn’t that our company couldn’t sell. Their system simply did not produce results for us. Again, I can accept that. No sales or marketing company can guarantee that its strategy will work in every industry. But that’s exactly why the way SalesLeap marketed its 200% ROI Guarantee mattered so much to us. When the 12-month ROI period ended and we had generated $0 in closed business through their program, we requested the refund provided under the guarantee. They refused. Only then did we learn how SalesLeap would interpret various eligibility requirements in the contract to argue that we had voided the guarantee. We strongly disagree with their position. More importantly, throughout the engagement, while we were actively working with them and spending money, SalesLeap never told us that we had lost eligibility for the ROI Guarantee. When we later specifically challenged why we had not been warned while there was still an opportunity to correct whatever they believed we were doing wrong, their written response included: “Not our responsibility.” That, more than anything, summarizes my frustration with this experience. If you’re going to sell customers on a 200% ROI Guarantee, stand behind it. If a customer is doing something that you believe invalidates that guarantee, tell them immediately so they can fix it. Don’t continue working with them toward the ROI objective, offer additional paid services, and then, when the customer finally asks you to honor the guarantee, explain why they supposedly stopped qualifying months earlier. Had SalesLeap simply said: “We underestimated your market. We tried, it didn’t work, and we’re going to honor our commitment,” I would have had enormous respect for them. Instead, we spent approximately $45,000, lost a significant amount of our team’s time, generated $0 in closed business, and then had to fight over a guarantee that was one of the reasons we signed in the first place. That’s why I would strongly caution other founders. Do not sign with SalesLeap because you feel protected by the words “200% ROI Guarantee.” If you’re considering them, scrutinize every eligibility condition and ask them, in writing, what could invalidate the guarantee and whether they will proactively notify you the moment they believe you’re no longer eligible. Our experience was extremely disappointing, and I genuinely wish we had never signed up. Everything above reflects our experience with SalesLeap. I’m happy to speak directly with any founder or company considering their services and share more detail about what happened.

My experience with SalesLeap has been great

Pros

What I love most is how practical and easy SalesLeap is to apply. A lot of sales programs can feel too theoretical but it gives you real, actionable steps that actually work. The live event I attended was a major highlight.. it was super engaging and I walked away with tons of useful insights. Plus, the community aspect is amazing. It's great to connect with others in sales who are facing the same challenges and learning alongside you.

Cons

Honestly, I did not really have many issues. Since our industry is pretty unique (we're in fire protection), we did have to tweak the process a bit to fit our specific needs. A lot of the strategies are more general sales approaches so we had to adjust them to make them work for us. But the core principles still apply and the program definitely gave us a solid foundation to build on. One thing I would love to see, though, is more live training sessions or interactive workshops to dive deeper into certain topics.

Accelerating outbound sales with SalesLeap

Pros

I LOVE how responsive and patient every member of the SalesLeap team is. They are incredibly attentive and practice what they preach. I love that they give me a clear model of what I'm working toward.

Cons

Sometimes, I feel there is a bit of a disconnect between the Toolkit model and the SalesLeap model. They are similar in some ways but there are a few things that only apply to our business. It's not really a huge issue, just means there's a bit more back-and-forth and problem-solving on both sides.
