Nice but paying for everything bothers me

Pros

I do like it because you can do a lot of stuff directly with the program. No need for extra tools or add ons when you have enough features in the program itself.

Cons

I have to pay for everything and I dont like that. The support team is not as responsive and I expect them to be very professional since I am paying so much.

Not a good fit for e-rx users

Pros

I love that I can customize It to use the SOAP format for notes. It really helps me stay organized.

Cons

Prescribing is a nightmare. If you're prescribing controlled substances, I would definitely not recommend this program.

Began well but now it's really bad

Pros

At first, It was great and super easy to use. But over the last couple of years, it feels like they've stopped caring. There are constant glitches, downtime and remember the healthcare outage? It's been pretty rough. I've had it for about 10 years now but I'm starting to get frustrated with the lack of improvements.

Cons

Customer service is terrible and the features feel outdated. It's not what I expected at all.

Both frustrating and essential

Pros

The EHR and PM (billing module) are both solid. They work well and are efficient. The patient portal is super functional too. My patients can schedule appointments, make payments, see what meds I've prescribed and where they've been sent and even fill out and submit forms. The EHR and PM are definitely powerful but they're pricey, you get what you pay for, though.

Cons

The eRx function is so inefficient. For example, if I need to resend 4 medications, I have to select each one, hit 'Resend,' and then send each one individually. Or, I have to save them to the main console, select each one again, and send them. It's even worse with controlled substances (CII). You basically have to rebuild one prescription, duplicate it, save it to the console, and repeat the process. AMD uses DrFirst EPCS, which means I need to select each medication separately, then enter a password and a six-digit code from Symantec VIP. It's honestly a mess. The recent update actually got rid of a 'Quick Resend' feature, so now I have to click each Rx at least twice just to resend it. Despite tons of negative feedback, they've made it clear they won't bring this feature back. If you're thinking about using AMD, have your salesperson walk you through this eRx process first , trust me it's much more inefficient than it sounds.

Too many layers

Pros

I like how this software can be used for documenting in an Ambulatory Surgical Center. The customization options are great and let me tailor things to what I need.

Cons

Everything has to be typed in manually and I have to fill out so many boxes just to complete one note. It's pretty tedious.

Disappointed, looking for a better choice

Pros

It is great for keeping patient records compliant. It gives me peace of mind knowing I'm following the rules.

Cons

The customer service is terrible. The system isn't as flexible, it's tough to pull reports, the patient portal is awful and the integration with other software and APIs is really lacking.

Very easy to use

Pros

I've been using the AMD practice management system since 2014 and I've never had any issues with training the users. It's really easy to use. plus the district manager is always available to help if I need anything.

Cons

The cost is just too high, especially for optometrist practices. This is the only big issue I'm facing with my clients right now.

Amazingg tool!

Pros

It is super easy to customize. I can create my own templates and documents, which makes things a lot more efficient for me.

Cons

Setting it up is a real challenge. A lot of our clients get frustrated with AMD because of issues with preferences, templates and other setup problems. Once everything is fixed, they love it but it's a bit of a headache getting there.

AdvancedMD EHR makes things easy

Pros

It's really easy to use and Advanced MD support is amazing. Once I set up the templates, the physicians can go through documentation. Printing notes and medical records is also a snap.

Cons

It can take a while to set up the templates and navigating them isn't always the easiest. But they're constantly improving and in the past 17 years, I've seen their EHR system become a lot more user-friendly.

Fav EHR solution

Pros

What I appreciate the most about AMD is that if I ever get stuck or can't find an answer through their training library, their support team is just a call away. They're always quick to help me out and resolve any issues I face.

Cons

One of the biggest issues I face as an admin is the inability to delete certain things. Our clinical staff sometimes miss details and when things need to be deleted, I can't do it.

Why Advanced MD EHR works for us

Pros

The scheduling features are really handy and it's easy to track client visits for billing and progress notes.

Cons

The lack of Android connections is a big problem. It doesn't work well with Chromebooks or Google Sheets and we really need a word processing program for some of the features.

Finding codes is really easy

Pros

I absolutely love this software! It is really easy to use which is a huge plus for me. Also it has all the updated codes from this year that I need to bill and submit claims to insurance companies, so I don't have to worry about missing anything. I also really like the search engine that AdvanceMD uses as it allows me to easily search anything by keyword or code number. So now my work does not feel like a burden to me.

Cons

I would say, the graphics are a bit outdated but honestly this is not a major issues because the software's functionality totally makes up for it.

AMD is not as advanced as it sounds

Pros

After I took the time to understand how to properly set it up, I realized that the system is actually quite well-structured and easy to navigate. It is pleasant to work with as everything is neatly arranged.

Cons

Proper setup is required for this software and it is very slow. Like half the time it does not work, which is frustrating.

AdvancedMD feels like a sports car with weak tires

Pros

The modules in AdvancedMD work well to complete their specific tasks, thanks to a carefully designed process. In my previous EHR system, I had to use five different third-party products through the API to achieve what AdvancedMD offers all in one place. These features include the ability to send and receive rating scales and show the results during appointments, conduct Zoom appointments, electronically sign documents, collect fees through the online portal, and send patient satisfaction surveys that include positive feedback published on the internet. Another remarkable feature is the ability to create a treatment team that involves outside providers, along with automated faxing of notes, which is very helpful in showcasing our work. Also, it automatically sends text alerts to patients when prescriptions have been sent. The template system is very strong, allowing for the creation of calculation fields. The final note uses MS Word merge fields, which provide almost endless design options. I designed our final note in MS Word to include depression and anxiety rating scale results in a vertical table on the left side of the page, color-coded based on the responses against a light background color taken from our logo palette. Even though AdvancedMD faces some criticism for "hidden fees," I believe these fees simply represent the costs related to the specific modules that one chooses to select and use within AdvancedMD. The advantage of paying for these features is that they perform exceptionally well.

Cons

It is really confusing that even though AdvancedMD is a well-thought-out and well-designed software, it uses DrFirst for checking e-prescriptions for scheduled medications. With the EPCS function from DrFirst, I have to select each medication again to send it, even after I have already made my choices in AdvancedMD. This means I am clicking multiple times. Then, I need to enter a unique password even though I am already logged into AdvancedMD, followed by a 6-digit code from SymantecVIP that expires every 30 seconds. Like seriously? It feels a bit ridiculous. It requires a lot of tapping. In comparison, my previous EHR, which was less efficient and focused on reducing costs, used ID.me on my phone for verification. All I had to do was choose the medications, hit send, enter my EHR password with one click since it was remembered, and then a column would pop up on my phone to confirm it was done. I really miss those days. On top of that, AdvancedMD does not have a feature to duplicate prescriptions. If I need to send three copies of a controlled substance, I have to create each one separately. Sure, I can use the "Send w/edit" option to resend them after sending, but it opens three separate instances for me to resend and requires me to enter the fill date for each prescription individually. My previous EHR automatically filled in the dates with its duplication feature. Overall, I am happy I made the switch from my old EHR to AdvancedMD, but the way DrFirst handles prescribing scheduled medications frustrates me every time I use it, which is several times a day.
