“Customizable EHR with helpful AI
Pros
Switching to this EHR felt like a noticeable upgrade from the one we had before. It was much more efficient and gave us a lot more flexibility to customize things around the way our team works. Scheduling patients was fairly simple and having the patient portal built in made communication between patients and providers much more connected. Support was also impressively quick and effective which really helped since the system was brand new to our whole company at the time. The AI features built into the platform were useful as well. On top of that, it was simple to learn, easy to tailor to our needs and patient management flowed much better than it did in our previous system. Having Zoom integrated for virtual visits was another feature we really appreciated.
Cons
Group scheduling was the area that gave us the most trouble. At times it did not work as smoothly as we needed and that could make billing those sessions more difficult. That said there was always some kind of workaround available even if it meant we had to get a little creative to make it function the way we needed.

Pros
Whenever an issue came up, the customer service team was quick to respond and helpful with troubleshooting. Scheduling was also simple to manage.

Pros
I do like it because you can do a lot of stuff directly with the program. No need for extra tools or add ons when you have enough features in the program itself.

I have to pay for everything and I dont like that. The support team is not as responsive and I expect them to be very professional since I am paying so much.

Pros
At first, It was great and super easy to use. But over the last couple of years, it feels like they've stopped caring. There are constant glitches, downtime and remember the healthcare outage? It's been pretty rough. I've had it for about 10 years now but I'm starting to get frustrated with the lack of improvements.

“Both frustrating and essential
Pros
The EHR and PM (billing module) are both solid. They work well and are efficient. The patient portal is super functional too. My patients can schedule appointments, make payments, see what meds I've prescribed and where they've been sent and even fill out and submit forms. The EHR and PM are definitely powerful but they're pricey, you get what you pay for, though.
Cons
The eRx function is so inefficient. For example, if I need to resend 4 medications, I have to select each one, hit 'Resend,' and then send each one individually. Or, I have to save them to the main console, select each one again, and send them. It's even worse with controlled substances (CII). You basically have to rebuild one prescription, duplicate it, save it to the console, and repeat the process. AMD uses DrFirst EPCS, which means I need to select each medication separately, then enter a password and a six-digit code from Symantec VIP. It's honestly a mess. The recent update actually got rid of a 'Quick Resend' feature, so now I have to click each Rx at least twice just to resend it. Despite tons of negative feedback, they've made it clear they won't bring this feature back. If you're thinking about using AMD, have your salesperson walk you through this eRx process first , trust me it's much more inefficient than it sounds.

“AdvancedMD feels like a sports car with weak tires
Pros
The modules in AdvancedMD work well to complete their specific tasks, thanks to a carefully designed process. In my previous EHR system, I had to use five different third-party products through the API to achieve what AdvancedMD offers all in one place. These features include the ability to send and receive rating scales and show the results during appointments, conduct Zoom appointments, electronically sign documents, collect fees through the online portal, and send patient satisfaction surveys that include positive feedback published on the internet. Another remarkable feature is the ability to create a treatment team that involves outside providers, along with automated faxing of notes, which is very helpful in showcasing our work. Also, it automatically sends text alerts to patients when prescriptions have been sent. The template system is very strong, allowing for the creation of calculation fields. The final note uses MS Word merge fields, which provide almost endless design options. I designed our final note in MS Word to include depression and anxiety rating scale results in a vertical table on the left side of the page, color-coded based on the responses against a light background color taken from our logo palette. Even though AdvancedMD faces some criticism for "hidden fees," I believe these fees simply represent the costs related to the specific modules that one chooses to select and use within AdvancedMD. The advantage of paying for these features is that they perform exceptionally well.
Cons
It is really confusing that even though AdvancedMD is a well-thought-out and well-designed software, it uses DrFirst for checking e-prescriptions for scheduled medications. With the EPCS function from DrFirst, I have to select each medication again to send it, even after I have already made my choices in AdvancedMD. This means I am clicking multiple times. Then, I need to enter a unique password even though I am already logged into AdvancedMD, followed by a 6-digit code from SymantecVIP that expires every 30 seconds. Like seriously? It feels a bit ridiculous. It requires a lot of tapping. In comparison, my previous EHR, which was less efficient and focused on reducing costs, used ID.me on my phone for verification. All I had to do was choose the medications, hit send, enter my EHR password with one click since it was remembered, and then a column would pop up on my phone to confirm it was done. I really miss those days. On top of that, AdvancedMD does not have a feature to duplicate prescriptions. If I need to send three copies of a controlled substance, I have to create each one separately. Sure, I can use the "Send w/edit" option to resend them after sending, but it opens three separate instances for me to resend and requires me to enter the fill date for each prescription individually. My previous EHR automatically filled in the dates with its duplication feature. Overall, I am happy I made the switch from my old EHR to AdvancedMD, but the way DrFirst handles prescribing scheduled medications frustrates me every time I use it, which is several times a day.

“Excellent interface and visibility
Pros
After I finish setting up the system, I find the interface very easy to navigate. Posting information is simple too and running reports is likewise easy. Since everything is stamped with both time and user, I can quickly see who did what and when. That level of visibility is excellent for keeping everyone accountable.
Cons
It would be helpful if the reporting options were more comprehensive because I often have to stitch together several reports to get the data I need. They do offer more consolidated report capabilities but those come at an extra cost, so unless I am willing to pay more I end up exporting and combining multiple reports myself.

Pros
After using this for over ten years, I can genuinely say there is a lot I love about it. From managing appointments to handling claims and posting via ERA, all the way to the manual posting windows, these features are precisely what most doctors offices rely on to help increase their revenue.

“Not really happy with the upgrades as it comes with errors
Pros
While AdvancedMD is undoubtedly an excellent software, I have noticed a slight decrease in attention to detail as the company continues to grow. As the business expands, there seems to be a minor shift in focus, which has not gone unnoticed.
Cons
Over the last two months, we have spent countless hours trying to contact tech support about ongoing software issues and disruptions. Despite the significant loss of productivity and revenue, we have continued to work with your team and use the software. However, we are experiencing a steady decline in software functionality, which is having a huge impact on our daily operations and revenue. This situation is unacceptable. According to our contractual agreement, we should at least receive basic connectivity in exchange for the substantial monthly payments we make. It has become common for some system or function to be unavailable after every patch or release. We frequently hear complaints about speed degradation. Our practice, patients, and staff are suffering as a result, leading to a significant loss of our reputation and financial setbacks for the practice.

Pros
It is extremely customizable to fit my practice and specialization. Our account representative has been outstanding over the years, effectively addressing our needs and consistently finding solutions.
Cons
The system provides several different methods and processes to complete the same task. “Reliable system
Pros
AdvancedMD's capability to customize templates is highly commendable. Unlike other systems where you have to submit changes to their development team with the right permissions you can make immediate changes on your own. However mastering the art of fully customizing word merge templates requires practice and patience. The customer service team is generally helpful and readily available although the level of dedication may vary among representatives. On the other hand their account managers are consistently helpful and genuinely advocate for what's best for their customers.
Cons
While AdvancedMD is committed to improving their system, there are still some features that need improvement or are missing, especially given the current state of technology. For example, the Analytics feature does not include tracking for marketing or referral data, and the customer survey feature cannot be customized. Also, important telehealth features, such as an "ask to mute" option, are not available. The connectivity for telehealth sessions could also be improved, as there are frequent issues with patients and providers connecting and maintaining a stable signal. Without EDI agreements for electronic remittance posting, processing insurance payments becomes a slow and tedious task, leading to excessive wait times as I navigate between fields. Moreover, the online scheduling feature is not fully integrated into the scheduling system, which requires me to create blocks and holds to show provider availability instead of automatically reflecting existing appointments. Despite these limitations, AdvancedMD is still a software worth exploring and evaluating.

“Switched to Athena for Improved Billing Practices
Pros
Regrettably, there were no positive aspects that we could highlight about this software, leading us to make the decision to switch to Athena.
Cons
Our experience with the software was extremely disappointing, primarily due to their ineffective billing practices. They failed to handle our insurance billing appropriately, leading to claims being carelessly written off without any attempts to bill the insurance company. To our dismay, they proceeded to bill patients directly and sent soft collection letters without readdressing the insurance billing. Moreover, claims were written off without proper authorization, creating additional financial burdens for our hospital and healthcare team.

“Meeting Promised Expectations with Room for Improvement
Pros
We were delighted to discover that the software delivered everything our sales representative had assured us. It came at a competitive price and offered the necessary features that perfectly suited our needs. As we made the switch from paper charting, we were pleasantly surprised by the available functionalities, making the transition smoother despite starting with minimal knowledge.
Cons
The aspect that disappointed me the most was their customer service. The implementation teams training was subpar, leaving us to rely heavily on self-learning through trial and error, and extensive online searches. Unfortunately, most of our questions and system-related issues went unanswered, and it often felt like the support team lacked an understanding of our queries. Customizing simple note templates proved challenging, requiring a grasp of coding, while notes themselves occasionally encountered internal issues even after signing. Annoyingly, there was no admin level access for editing signed notes, even when the errors were due to system glitches rather than user mistakes. Additionally, the reporting system proved to be messy, unorganized, and difficult to navigate. We were even compelled to pay extra for basic information reporting. Frequent glitches and the lack of insightful support added further frustration to the experience.

“Support is not sufficient
Pros
The program is good, but there is no support available.
Cons
The billing company has been completely unresponsive, causing significant delays in launching our nurse practitioners practice. I would advise against using their services.
