very user friendly but deletions are permanent

Pros

It is very user friendly. Scanning and importing files takes practically no time. Also it is simple to erase errors or shift documents between patient charts without hassle!

Cons

While it's easy to delete an incorrect document, I find that problematic because once removed I cannot get it back and if a file is saved I cannot update or revise it which means I'd need to create a new document.

AMD serves as our subledger

Pros

As an accountant for an institute that provides therapeutic services for the public, AdvancedMD serves as our subledger and it can’t get anymore brilliant. The software provides a versatile platform that helps utilize customizable features that cater to our specific needs to ensure that all records are accounted and transparent. We are a satisfied user of this software and would recommend it to others.

Cons

While the interface of the website portal offers a user-friendly experience, it does require time and effort to utilize all its functions properly and with of ease. In other words, you only get what you put into it and that is basically, a lot of effort and hours!

Bank reconciliation is a nightmare

Pros

For me, the ODBC connection is absolutely fantastic. I use T-SQL to build reports that far outperform what almost any PM system's built-in reporting can deliver. Advanced Insight, the included BI tool, is decent but it doesn't hold a candle to the ODBC.

Cons

Frankly, I am stunned that you cannot lock payment deposit dates. With the practice management and billing systems I have used before, I could reconcile the day's transactions with the bank and then lock those deposit dates so they couldn't be altered. Sadly, AdvancedMD lets people edit a payment's deposit date at any time during the payment's lifecycle which turns bank reconciliation into an absolute nightmare for me.

Decent system for a small practice

Pros

For a small practice like ours, it is a very nice system. It is easy to get your hands on. The basic features like billing, claims and posting payments are pretty easy to do. They have a lot of other great features as well like authorization tracking, and the collection module which in fact is very helpful.

Cons

They really do not upgrade often, and they also do not really focus on customer suggestions and comments, which they should. The reporting feature is lacking, and to have it you have to pay for its module which is a little pricey. Setting it up also takes some skills and time, as it is not an easy task to do.

Simple but freezes too often

Pros

This platform is simple to use and very user friendly. I have learned to navigate it faster than any other.

Cons

It freezes more frequently than I am comfortable with. I also wish I could schedule and view patient statements directly from the EHR.

Works best for smaller practices

Pros

I have found this works best for smaller practices, because once you scale up to a larger or multi-location setup it becomes really difficult to generate the reports you need.

Cons

In our large, multi-location office it's extremely difficult for me to pull reliable reports filtered by location and I often struggle to get the site-specific data we need.

Extremely user-friendly and organized

Pros

the system is extremely user-friendly and it only took me a couple of tries to get the hang of the basics. It genuinely helps me keep my clients' charts, progress notes and treatment plans neatly organized.

Cons

What frustrates me is that Advanced PM and the EHR aren't integrated into a single system and I would love to see more granular folder options for each client. For example having signed progress notes and treatment plans stored in separate, clearly labeled folders.

unsuitable for urgent care

Pros

The color palette and the appointment grid are elements I really appreciate about this system.

Cons

I find it completely unsuitable for urgent care and the measures we need for meaningful use are hard to capture or quantify.

Single system for billing and scrubbing

Pros

One thing I appreciated was having a single system where I could enter charges and handle billing. It also scrubbed my claims and from that same interface I could immediately see any errors that needed fixing.

Cons

I didn't find much to complain about but occasionally when I went back into a claim the system would automatically resubmit it which resulted in a duplicate.

AdvancedMD is an integral software in our practice

Pros

The ability to work on the iPhone and iPad is the standout feature for me personally. This feature is important for us as I have a busy schedule and can't always sit at my desktop.

Cons

Customizing templates initially posed a challenge but once familiar with the process it becomes fairly easy.

All in one service

Pros

The extensive program offers easy e-prescription comprehensive lab orders and the availability of the iFax feature for sending and receiving faxes. The exceptional customer service ensures prompt issue resolution. Knowledgeable trainers provide assistance and the PM and EMR components communicate effectively. The system automatically verifies insurance two days ahead of appointments. Patient portal availability fast billing service and quick reimbursement add to the software's appeal. The RCM team is particularly impressive.

Cons

There is a lot of clicking between pages and certain actions like checking the "Reviewed" box require navigating through different tabs. The e-prescription process involves too many "OK" clicks. The scanner is only compatible with the "Twain" format. Reviewing PMH preventative medicine vitals and the care team requires switching between tabs.

Support is horrible and useless.

Pros

The PM system is decent and user-friendly thanks to the cloud-based system and easy sign-in process. However there are some cons that outweigh these pros.

Cons

The EHR functionality is terrible and the support staff is unhelpful leading to long wait times. Issues with scanning and dysfunctionality are frustrating.

PM is great EHR is just okay

Pros

The scheduling part of AdvancedMD is intuitive and user-friendly. Moving an appointment is as simple as clicking selecting "move" and choosing the desired date and time. Customization options for time intervals color-coding appointment types and default appointment lengths are available. Adding a patient making billing notes sending messages/tasks and entering patient information are all quick and simple processes. The EHR offers useful features like pulling medication history from a national database pharmacy lookup customizable acronyms and frequently used phrases.

Cons

Customizing templates without formal training from AdvancedMD specialists can be challenging. The available training videos are not tailored to individual situations making it difficult to figure out specific customization needs. Printing a note requires multiple clicks selecting the "WordMerge" option and opening a Word document before being able to print. This process becomes time-consuming when printing multiple notes or an entire medical record. The cost and accessibility of training sessions and conferences offered by AdvancedMD are significant drawbacks. Creating templates should be more intuitive and user-friendly for regular users without requiring extensive training.

Cannot recommend

Pros

The PM is easy to use and the EHR is customizable. Overall the software is designed for easy understanding and usage.

Cons

Storing notes in the EHR and transferring them to a custom Word document can be confusing and time-consuming. Making changes to the Word document does not update previous notes leading to potential confusion. Additionally AdvancedMD's reliability is questionable as their billing accuracy is not satisfactory. The fax system is separate and requires manual action to send out faxes. There are several other cons to this system that could be further elaborated upon.

Great Product needs improvement

Pros

Among the EMRs used in the past AdvancedMD stands out as the easiest to navigate and use. The ability to customize it according to specific practice needs has greatly improved workflow during busy days.

Cons

The immunization module functionality is not impressive and requires improvement especially for pediatricians.

Efficient User friendly and great customer service

Pros

From initial inquiry to contracting setup and actual usage AdvancedMD and their staff have been amazing. The system is user-friendly easy to learn and customizable to specific practice needs. Transitioning from a subpar EMR system to AdvancedMD has been a fantastic decision. After researching 30 different EMR vendors and having demos with 3 it was clear from the start that AdvancedMD was the only choice for us.

Cons

I mostly use this to look at patient visit documentation and to upload forms

Pros

A notable advantage is its connection to the practice management program. In our previous system we had to purchase two separate programs for EHR and practice management.

Cons

The nursing staff is still adjusting to the change and doesn't have a favorable opinion. The reviewer primarily uses the practice management program rather than the Electronic Health Record side.

easy to use but surprise fees and updates are annoying

Pros

I really like how user-friendly the system is. As whenever I am unsure I can press F1 on any screen to bring up help or learn how to use a feature.

Cons

One major annoyance I have experienced is that updates are pushed out with no notice and I constantly end up paying extra fees for seemingly minor items. And some reports that ought to be free are priced very high.
