AdvancedMD PM/EHR is Awesome!

Pros

What I like is that I can convert all my hard copy documents to electronic files and duplicate all my existing forms as well as create new ones using their template feature. The best part is the telemedicine functionality. My remote patient/client base is expanding rapidly, and this software allows for secure communication while complying with HIPAA guidelines.

Cons

The cost of the add ons is a drawback. I don't like that they present the cost separately instead of providing upfront information on the total cost of all the add ons. I prefer transparency.

ADVANCE MD SOFTWARE REVIEW

Pros

The software is easy to use and the customer service support is continuous. The transition to this software was seamless.

Cons

Obtaining AR reports should be easier after a simple login. The ActiveX request for installation is a bit difficult to understand.

Overpriced under performing

Pros

Its not a one size fits all product. The software can be customized to create templates that align with your providers workflow.

Cons

If you use even one free text field in the EMR your data cannot be exported into a usable format when leaving AdvancedMD. This known bug hasn't been fixed even after paying for the data dump. The PMS and EMR are two separate systems loosely connected, causing problems with connectivity when using the patient portal and online forms module.

Pleased with the Product!

Pros

Working with the staff has been a great experience! They are incredibly helpful and respond quickly. Moreover the setup was fairly straightforward to learn and it functions exactly as expected, which makes training new staff on the system much easier.

Cons

The constant occurrence of bugs and the need for fixes is frustrating. AMD freezes and crashes frequently, and it also tends to run very slowly for our staff and providers. Additionally, sometimes parts of the system get updated without updating the helpfile, making troubleshooting difficult.

User friendly software, great support!

Pros

There are two great aspects of this product. Firstly, the ICD-10 coding abilities are incredibly user friendly. Even with minimal coding knowledge you can confidently use this software for billing purposes with the complex ICD-10 codes. Secondly, the ability to instantly chat with support online is a huge advantage. Most of the time they can address any issues right then and there.

Cons

There's really not much to dislike about this product. It would be great to have more flexibility in running invoices instead of statements and recording different types of data. This would cater to different types of offices like ours (we are not a PCP/family med). Sometimes it's difficult to find the right person to talk to when we need something out of the ordinary.

Pros

I really like the helpfulness of the support staff whenever I have questions. The availability of help files is also fantastic.

Cons

I often find some of the reports confusing, but the help files and support staff always clarify things for me.

Overall the system is easy to learn and use.

Pros

Its convenient to store patients credit card information in the system for auto pay purposes. The appointment scheduling is simple and allows for the creation of blocks.

Cons

Getting specific reports for certain time frames is difficult. We can't seem to obtain all the information we need.

This product goes the extra mile in terms of user friendliness and it offers various instructional videos. It provides multiple avenues for learning the systems format and setup, allowing for flexibility and growth in small practices.

Cons

The limited compatibility with Mac is frustrating. Not all the functions of this product are available for use on a Mac, which makes it challenging to access unless a PC is available.

Fantastic Program!

Pros

In my 7 years of experience as an Office Manager/Practice Manager/Billing Specialist this program beats all the others I have worked with. I would recommend it to anyone who manages their operations in house. It allows quick report generation, claims submission and eligibility verification. It also tracks authorizations smoothly without encountering many delays between entering notes and submitting claims. I can monitor the productivity of both the office staff and providers. Tech Support is always available during business hours and resolutions are typically quick and straightforward.

Cons

I would have preferred a longer implementation time and more contact with the implementation specialist to be involved in our case. After the initial excitement of a new system wears off, there are often questions and tweaks that need to be addressed. It would be nice if it were more suitable for mental health, although there are workarounds that make it simple to use. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the transition.

The Future of EHR

Pros

AdvancedMD is a system that is easy to navigate and has one of the best software interfaces I have ever used. The Learning Library is comprehensive and provides guidance for simple tasks as well as technical aspects like creating custom templates. The support team at AdvancedMD is truly exceptional and always finds solutions to problems. Instead of relying on them to create templates, they provide us with the tools to create our own.

Cons

The product itself is solid. However, in the beginning, the trainers didn't make it clear that we had the controls and that they wouldn't do a complete setup. It was up to us to handle it. In a small practice, this isn't always the most practical way to go through the process.

Exceptional support and the iCloud base allows us ipad mobility

Pros

The system being based on iCloud allows us to utilize iPads for scheduling and documentation. The program offers a wide range of complex functionalities for our office.

Cons

The vendor is overly persistent, and the color scheme makes it difficult to see. They should consider using different colors.

Terrific Product for Managing A Practice!

Pros

With proper training the product is easy to use and enables accurate tracking of patients, claims and revenue from intake to final posting.

Cons

Too expensive for what you get

Pros

There is not anything I find appealing about this vendor. Its challenging to use and the cost is very high.

Not at all happy with the

Pros

I enjoyed the linear and intuitive nature of the software. However I am dissatisfied with the lack of support when there is a disconnection.

Cons

I reviewed them and was assured that all the information we entered into the EHR would belong to us and be accessible even if we switched systems. Unfortunately, that turned out to be untrue. We started using AdvancedMD in 2009 and closed the practice in 2015. We were told that we wouldn't have access to any of the medical records we created in AdvancedMD, only the scanned documents. I was unhappy with this, but AdvancedMD didn't offer a solution and stopped returning my calls.

Would not recommend for a rural health clinic.

Pros

Providers thoroughly enjoy the EHR side of the software and scheduling appointments is not a hassle anymore.

Cons

The practice management aspect is outdated and not suitable for rural health clinics. We can't post negative adjustments to ensure rural health payments reflect our rates. The staff isn't familiar with rural health clinics, and it took us 10 months to get our Medicare claims submitted with their assistance. Customer support hold times often exceed an hour, and even then, the support representative puts you on hold to get help. It's very expensive for such an outdated product that requires additional staff time to post Medicare payments. Generating month-end reports is cumbersome and takes 8-10 hours due to our clinic having multiple locations. Manually adding reports should be a thing of the past.

Advanced MD

Pros

My District Manager and AdvancedMD trainer always make time to address any questions I have. They go above and beyond to assist and explain processes in great detail. Its a wonderful team to work with. Also Creating custom templates is a simple process.

Cons

The system doesn't download inbound CIE reports in a clean and effortless format. It would be helpful to have more detailed instructional videos.

Excellent help today

Pros

The support system is remarkable. Today my representative spent over an hour helping me resolve an interface issue with Lab Corp. I am impressed by her professionalism and dedication to solving my offices EHR problem. She truly did an outstanding job.

Cons

I wish there had been one dedicated person assigned to my office from the very beginning to help me. It would have allowed for more productive time with AdvanceMD and improved patient care.

AdvancedMD is easy to setup, train and use.

Pros

The setup of our keys went smoothly and the training is enjoyable and always accessible. I haven't encountered any scenarios that AdvancedMD cannot handle.

Cons

I like all the features. The ledger is simple to use and correcting and refilling claims is a simple process. The clearinghouse is intuitive and does most of the work for you. The reporting functionality is user friendly and I can generate reports in different ways based on our clients' preferences.

Evaluation of AdvancedMD

Pros

The product is easy to use and I am generally satisfied with the support team although there can be long wait times.

Cons

I am not satisfied with the clearinghouse. It doesn't meet the standards of PQRS and there are better programs available. Chasing after Meaningful Use is a hassle. The time difference for people in the EST zone causes difficulties. The additional costs to make the program more efficient are prohibitive.
