“Reminders
Pros
The AdvancedMD is good and reliable, but it has a learning curve to it which takes a bit of time to get a hang of it, just like any other tool.
Cons
When patients receive appointment reminders and cancel their appointments, they are unable to reschedule again. This feature shouldn’t be available to cancel unless I don’t cancel the appointment reminders.

“Frustrating and broken system
Pros
We liked having a simple way to talk to each other about patients.
Cons
1. The software is glitchy and sluggish, Chromebooks handle it poorly. 2. Charts are scattered across systems, forcing you to sign into a separate practice-management portal just to see clinical files. Absurd! 3. Setup was terrible. Paid $5,000 for them to build chart templates (sent photos and specifics) and they messed them up badly. Online forms still don't transfer into a patient's chart and I just learned it requires manual entry in 2022. Unacceptable. 4. The patient-facing scheduler doesn't display all booked appointments 5. Billing moves slowly and there's almost no follow-up and we end up handling all backend chasing ourselves. 6. There's no simple way to add referring doctors into the system.

“good for billing but poor support
Pros
It works fine for appointments and recording shots, although the Quick Add page could use improvements.
Cons
It is mostly focused on payment collection which works if your clinic prioritizes billing and revenue generation. We are a free-for-service provider and would like stronger reporting to pinpoint neighborhoods and groups needing care and to measure service gaps. Tech support moves slowly and rarely helps when stumped they tend to stop responding or avoid follow-up contact.

“powerful but frustratingly buggy
Pros
After you get the hang of navigating the system it becomes pretty simple. Adding billing tools into the chart is also quite simple.
Cons
Where to begin... It is not user-friendly and is full of glitches and crashes. The dashboard and rooming tools rarely function properly for many team members. E-prescribing is awful. Notes in the chart are clunky and balloon in size when critical integrations are missing. Auto-populated data is unreliable and limited (for example, a chart summary won't pull that day's BMI). No matter how skilled you are at building and tweaking templates, many needed functions simply aren't there (you only find this out after long calls with customer support).

“Hard to use and expensive
Pros
Low cost, cloud-based and accessible from your mobile phone.
Cons
Its really confusing, template creation is tough and looks bad, the app offers almost no help to customize and you're forced to pay extra for changes which ends up being very expensive.

“The billing module is a lifesaver!
Pros
I have been using this software in my practice for the last five years. The easy access to electronic record archives and the operation of the manual posting windows has made this software one of my favorites among the EHRs that I have used in the recent past. The patient billings are tracked, which ensures that the practitioners get paid. Thats pretty much any doctors office needs to bring in more revenue.
Cons
I am having some difficulty with the new user interface. To be honest, I prefer the older version because it was much simpler and I was pretty familiar with the older icon placements. I had a few compatibility issues back when I started using it, but the support team was really great and helped us a lot in setting this software up and running.

“clunky, slow and utterly frustrating for our practice
Pros
The note layout tool is solid and simple to use but the input fields are very limited in capability and size.
Cons
The platform is sluggish with long, unreasonable wait times and frequent server crashes. It often closes all open windows and returns an internal error. The e-prescribing part is not suited to behavioral health or our special requirements. You can't just adjust a dose and the whole medication entry must be searched and reselected. Displayed details are unclear and don't match across the three medication access screens. You cannot remove a prescription that you've written and signed if you don't print or send it. Auto-expire is unclear because it doesn't communicate the change to the pharmacy. Changing a patient's pharmacy can't be done in bulk; each prescription must be edited individually if they want a different pharmacy. A 90-day script can't be split into three 30-day fills for controlled meds when insurance only covers 30 days, you must create three separate scripts. They push updates mid-week that are buggy and disrupt operations. And that's just the beginning of the problems encountered.

“Useful after long training
Pros
It's handy having everything in one spot and once you're familiar you can get to files, records etc. easily.
Cons
The charting interface isn't very intuitive and gets confusing sometimes. Training lasted weeks, whereas other platforms can be learned far faster.

“Ahhh terrible service!
Pros
The sales team was great but everything else was terrible.
Cons
When we sought help about prescribing issues they didn't care, even after we repeatedly showed them the product isn't compliant with our state's laws for prescribing scheduled controlled substances.

“good value but clunky
Pros
We chose it when switching systems because the price was right. It also offered many of the capabilities we needed. Mobile app, Patient portal and Strong analytics. All of these features perform well and benefit our clinic. The scheduler is great too. Our office has cut way down on paper since patients can complete intake forms on tablets. They pitched it as good for podiatrists but this feels more tailored to MDs, the name kind of gives that away!
Cons
None of the built-in podiatry templates work for our DPMs, which is frustrating. Some areas of the software (the scheduler, for example) are clean and very user-friendly but other screens feel awkward and clunky to use and charge entry being the worst offender. Hopefully future releases will polish these inconsistent parts. As others have pointed out, the template builder is awkward to learn and they charge a hefty fee to provide training or to have their experts build custom templates for you. We also use AdvancedMD for RCM and that part has been uneven. During sales they said billing would require only 1-2 hours of work per day from our staff and that they would manage denials and exclusions end-to-end. That promise is only half true. Their way of handling denials/exclusions is often to delay action for a long time or simply return them to us if the case is complicated. They handle routine tasks like filing claims and posting payments reliably but we still do most of the detailed, time-consuming follow-up and appeal work. The Client Services team is responsive and you can usually get someone on the phone fast but some claims issues can drag on for months before being resolved. They're not quite the billing experts they're marketed as but their RCM service still has value if you have realistic expectations.
