“Quick access to patient information”
Pros
I like that AthenaOne is easy to learn, and once I get the hang of navigating the different sections, I can easily access all the information about our patients.
Cons
AthenaOne offers a lot of different fields and functions. Learning all of them and figuring out how they can benefit my practice feels like it could be a full-time job.

“Real-time support”
Pros
AthenaOne regularly updates to stay current with the ongoing changes in healthcare. Training materials are provided at each step, which makes it easy to learn. The best feature, in my opinion, is the live chat function, which offers real-time assistance and troubleshooting.
Cons
It takes some time to get used to the process of working claims on the back end.

“Navigation could be improved”
Pros
The billing is fairly easy to handle and train others on. The navigation works well, but I think it could be improved with some shortcuts to make things faster.
Cons
I pay for both the program and for Athena employees to handle my claims, but unfortunately, they lack the skills and knowledge needed to manage the accounts receivable effectively.

“Broken UI”
Pros
The legacy system is the only part I consistently like and use. It's alright, but they're phasing it out instead of fixing the issues we've pointed out.
Cons
Where do I even begin? The community feature for connecting with other users only seems useful when Athena actually cares about your input, but if you're not praising them, they ignore your comments and concerns. They merge or delete complaints about their new UI and refuse to gather feedback before rolling out a system that doesn't work properly. The new system isn't even easy to use! Instead of accepting criticism, they block you from commenting. When I reach out for help, I just get a scripted response that doesn't answer my questions, and I’m told to send my complaints to their development team, who then sends me another script. A lot of my concerns remain unresolved in the name of "modernity," and their 'help' section offers almost no real answers, just links to pointless videos and threads. It's honestly embarrassing. I'd be much better off with a company that listens to user feedback before releasing a broken UI and actually takes the time to address my concerns.

“Frustrating user experience”
Pros
The actual EMR is well-designed and one of the best on the market. The workflows and order sets make using the EMR very simple.
Cons
We liked the Athena EMR but did not like the Athena One package, the related onboarding process, or the corporate policies of Athena. We were told the onboarding process would take three months, during which we had unhelpful weekly meetings with Athena reps. My staff and I completed the required but excessive onboarding tasks outside these meetings. However, after five months, the Athena One build was still incomplete due to Athena staff's lack of progress. Communications about their delays were met with corporate gaslighting and deflecting. This is a solo provider practice with one to two insurance panels. There is no logical reason the EMR shouldn't have been ready for use after five months. I have used Athena in other settings, and they seem to do a poor job submitting claims. Most practices lose money if they rely on Athena One to submit claims.

“Billing errors”
Pros
I really appreciate the convenience of having everything I need right inside the patient chart. It saves me time and helps keep everything organized in one place.
Cons
I know this is an option, but we have not opted to use it as an add-on, and we have to redo medical billing work that Athena One's team has done incorrectly according to our state governance.

“Athena saves time with streamlined operations”
Pros
Athena saves me so much time in the day-to-day operations of patient care and office management. Many features are set up to save time for providers, making tasks just a few clicks away! Tasks like prescribing, referrals, encounter plans and faxing directly from the EHR. Plus, much of the patient check-in, appointment reminders, result notifications and scheduling is automated, which helps as I run a one-provider practice without staff.
Cons
I wish there were more areas of customization to allow for unique practice setups since my practice is boutique. There are many customization options, but some patient-facing messaging is hard-coded, and I would like to see more options for customization. Additionally, I would like better communication and prioritization transparency about fixing coding bugs that impact Athena's capabilities.

“Athena billing problems”
Pros
At first, I thought it was easier to use because I could see it had a lot of potential.
Cons
I've run into several issues with billing claims, and I've noticed that Athena users often write off claims without letting me rework them, which ends up costing my organization money.

“High quality, low cost”
Pros
I have had a completely positive experience with athenaOne EHR Mobile App software. The reports help us summarize the diagnosis and notes allow nurses and other medical staff to add timely updates and increase workflow productivity.
Cons
