“Physician - Owner; Internal medicine practice”
Pros
It handles changes to the healthcare environment, such as MACRA, MIPS, meaningful use, automatic vaccine/pharmaceutical data download, and electronic prescribing, including controlled substances.
Cons
Time-consuming like most EMRs. There really aren't any significant negatives for this product. It requires customization and streamlining for your workflow.

“Great EMR”
Pros
In my opinion, the pros of Athena EMR include an intuitive and streamlined interface along with prompt technical support.
Cons
A downside of Athena EMR for me is that it's hard to search for help topics because I have to be very specific. I wish it had a broader area that I could click on and then see more details.

“Client and patient friendly!”
Pros
I like how it's incredibly user-friendly and updates automatically! The patient portal is extremely beneficial!
Cons
Customer service takes forever! Waiting on the phone is the last thing I want to do. The program is slow sometimes, and I have to call Athena to get it fixed! Also, I cannot connect to another doctors office if they are not part of the Athena network.

“The truth”
Pros
I enjoy using the apps like Athena capture, athena text and athenanet on my iPhone are quicker and more efficient than our office PCs. Some patients even mention they like the system.
Cons
Wow, where do I even begin? Athena is a massive scam. I've endured constant suffering, pain, and misery for over a year. I think I will need therapy and counseling after this PTSD experience. Do not trust their promotional videos or fake online reviews. I fell for all of them. Their 75-page fine print contracts are deceptive (beware). Nothing works as it should. The system has an overwhelming number of extraneous setup/customizable options that are hard to configure, and no one helps you even if you beg. I just needed a basic family practice setup, but its too confusing for the system. The system has preset worksets, so if your MA types "chest pain" as the chief complaint, it automatically pulls the EKG and troponin. You have to spend a lot of time customizing this monstrous system, and its never just right. No one at Athena believes in keeping it simple. They are insincere, unavailable (East Coast), and they do not think like doctors, which is the problem.

“All-in-one Medical Billing platform”
Pros
Our company found AthenaHealth to be the best healthcare billing software we've ever used. Its so integral to our daily tasks that I cannot imagine us functioning properly as a profitable business without it. Their customer service staff are always helpful and take their time with you as if you were the only customer in the world.
Cons
The software takes some getting used to. Customer Service is extremely helpful, but hold times can be excruciating especially when I need the software right then and there.

“Very easy to pick up and get going.”
Pros
The interface is very friendly, and everything is set up to guide you through easily while entering patient information.
Cons
Sometimes the add-on software like the label printer and document printer would stop working, but that is rare.

“New user, like it so far”
Pros
As a new user of Athena, I really like it so far. We previously had separate programs for patient health information, billing, and scheduling, but having everything linked with Athena scheduling is nice. There are also many different chart areas that help organize information so I don't have to hunt for it.
Cons
I am not a huge fan of how big the screens are. Scrolling to get to my intended information is a bit frustrating, but the other benefits outweigh this. It was also a little hard to get used to the layout, but now that we have been using it, I do like it.

“Best We Have Found”
Pros
I like all the features. It takes some training to get everyone up to speed, but it's pretty easy to use after that. The cloud-based patient management is very helpful and cuts down on storage. We are a relatively small practice with about 30 physicians, so this is perfect for us.
Cons
The Communicator and Marketing Software could be better. The email system for Communicator charges a lot for features, and all the partner software is expensive as well.

“Could Be Better...”
Pros
It's quite simple. I can grasp it quickly within a short period. The layout is relatively clean and easy to move around.
Cons
The reports feature is an absolute nightmare. As a Clinical Research Coordinator, I am constantly trying to run reports for all our different studies, and my success rate for running a functional report is pretty minimal. I also do not like how it doesn't hold accountability very well. I feel that Athena should require start and stop dates for medications as well as treatments/problems. Also, be careful as its far too easy to delete things!

“Super efficient for client/patient”
Pros
I have used this software as a patient, and I think its great! The easiest part is the billing. Medical bills can be difficult to keep track of, but this software makes it easy for me to see all my billing info in one place.
Cons
I am always a fan of apps, and I wish there was an app!

“Easy to use but has flaws”
Pros
It is generally simple to use. A recent update in the last year improved the layout significantly. It's pretty intuitive.
Cons
First, there is not enough security to keep certain types of notes from being accessible to people within your network. Second, when you send patient cases back and forth, there is no notification of new notes on an open case.

“Athena”
Pros
Athena definitely has potential, but it is not one of my favorite EMRs. It is nice how it can organize different physicians and checking their schedules is relatively easy.
Cons
Athena is not very intuitive. Also never try to run reports, as these can be highly inaccurate.

“athenaClinicals”
Pros
Athena Clinicals is a great EHR software as it is intuitive and saves time for documentation and billing processes. It is useful for getting all patient information, including medical history, labs, and medication charts.
Cons
It required basic computer skills to navigate through different tabs and initially took some time, but within a week or two, I was able to understand how to navigate it.

“A simple EHR system”
Pros
Its an easy-to-use EHR system that my older co-workers who were not computer-savvy were able to operate. Patients loved using the patient portal, and it made my job much easier. Having everything from patient labs, office notes, and current meds all on one page made this system very helpful.
Cons
We have had multiple billing issues with this system as well as problems with the system crashing after updates. I have noticed that some patient info was lost after updates as well.

“ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT”
Pros
It has a lot of features that you need in an EMR, and they are available during implementation.
Cons
Customer support is non-existent once you finish implementation. We are in limbo now as we use it with iPads/iPhones, and since the iOS upgrade, Athena is not compatible. They said they did look into it, and after a week of waiting, we have no answer and no one to speak to. You need to create a ticket for everything, and it takes a good 30-45 minutes to get simple answers. They assign you a "customer success" manager after implementation, but they do not know any clinical answers. We asked to speak to a manager, and 10 days later, we are still waiting. I even tweeted Athena to see if I could get a quicker reply, but no answer.

“Easiest EHR system I have navigated”
Pros
Easy, enjoyable interface to navigate. Also easy to train others on it. Overall, a great product. I loved working with it compared to others I have used.
Cons
Sometimes it was a bit laggy and crashed often during the workday. After a phone call to Athena, they were usually able to fix it quickly though.
