I really appreciate that it brings everything together in one comprehensive cloud-based system. At first, the number of features can be a little overwhelming because the platform offers so much. The customization options are definitely a benefit but they also take some upfront time to configure the way you want. Once that initial setup is out of the way though, everything works very smoothly.

Working with it is really comfortable for a small to mid-sized clinic. The interface is uncomplicated, with clean layouts that are quick to learn and easy to follow. It also feels dependable from a privacy standpoint since patient information is stored securely and as a student nurse, that matters a lot because protecting confidentiality is essential. Managing patients is also very convenient, whether it's updating health histories, reports, notes, summaries or prescriptions. The patient portal is simple to handle too so patients can check their own records without much trouble. On the scheduling side, staff can create, cancel or reschedule appointments in just a few clicks and patients being able to book online helps save time and keeps things organized.
Cons
That said I have run into slowdown issues a few times. Whenever I try loading larger files or charts, the system can start lagging which gets frustrating. I can see this becoming a bigger issue for larger clinics especially during busy hours. Support could also be improved since responses sometimes take longer than expected. And while it is affordable at the start, the cost can climb if a clinic needs additional features to expand the platform.

One thing that helped was the pricing model since it charges per note instead of a monthly fee. It also lets me customize appointment notes and keep documents on file that can be sent to patients.
Cons
The electronic prescribing for controlled substances failed to renew correctly and support was completely ineffective. Over the last three months, I've spent hours calling, emailing and even chatting with AI trying to get it fixed. Charm's engineers made one mistake after another which caused major disruption to my practice for more than three months. My requests were ignored, promised calls and emails never happened and I still have not received an appropriate response after all this time. There has been no accountability or responsibility at all.

I used to enjoy this product a lot more. The online scheduling feature was nice until they started having constant issues with the captcha which caused problems for patients. Now they have to call the office to book which defeats the purpose of online scheduling.
Cons
The customer support is pretty awful. They are based in India and it takes over three days to get a response. Even when I finally spoke to a supervisor about my login issues, they did not seem to care at all about how it was affecting my practice. It felt like they did not want to keep me as a client.

As a solo practitioner I manage everything myself and understand both the clinical and admin side of running a practice. I am also a full-stack web developer so I am very comfortable with tech. After trying many EHRs for small practices, Charm stands out as one of the most flexible and customizable options. It is affordable and I have been using it for about 10 years. I was an early adopter and have watched it grow, though a few areas have declined. With enough time to customize you can build a lot with its templates and questionnaires.
Cons
Customer and tech support are basically useless when real issues come up. They don not act on feedback and most of the time support just repeats the same basic steps I already know. Honestly I often know more about the platform than they do. I cannot remember the last time I got help from a real person on the phone or chat as I usually wait a week or more for an email from someone who barely understands the issue, so I end up fixing things myself. On top of that we are forced to use BlueFin as the credit card processor which is terrible. Because of it we now use a separate scheduling system just to charge cash patients. Plus people have been complaining about BlueFin for years but the company still refuses to listen.

I find this EMR to be a good choice. It is affordable and easy to set up though it is pretty basic. Still I like it much more than Simple Practice which I found too clunky, so I switched to Charm.
Cons
To be honest customer service is a nightmare. You can only contact support via email and it takes at least a week for a response. They are never proactive and if you do not ask every tiny detail upfront, it won't get done. After four months of seeing patients I still have not been able to bill insurance because of it. Overall it has been incredibly frustrating.

Lastly the calendar and payment systems are built right in, so I don't have to deal with separate contracts or extra programs as everything is available in one place.
Cons
I really wish the notes were more customizable and that labs would auto-populate. Dot phrases would be super helpful too, since they are faster than setting up and finding the right template. That said, I did love being able to design tables or flowsheets, like for comparing DXA results over the years and pulling them right into the note.

Working with compounding pharmacies I found it extremely challenging to write prescriptions through Charms e-prescribing feature. Standard pharmacies struggle with the electronic signature placement leading to verification calls after sending prescriptions. Consequently Ive reverted to calling in prescriptions or using paper pads. While I appreciate the template customization options I would like the ability to publish treatment plans before completing the entire chart as well as more vertical space for chart notes. Perhaps condensing patient info could free up space for expanded charting areas.
