well managed scheduling

Pros

It is very easy to use which probably explains why it's one of the most widely used dental software systems in dental offices. The charting and clinical notes are simple and the quick notes are especially helpful for standard entries that come up repeatedly with procedures. The hot buttons also make charting faster and more convenient. Treatment planning works well within the charting area especially when it comes to organizing priorities. Scheduling is clear, customizable and simple to manage. The drop box on the right for moving appointments is also really useful and it's convenient that the whole team can access the same drop box even when logged in under different users.

Cons

Managing so many separate windows including charting, x-rays, the documents center, patient information and the schedule at once is a frustrating thing. It would make a lot more sense if documents were built into the patient information section so there weren't so many windows to juggle. Another issue is that when an electronic claim is submitted to insurance, It does not keep a digital copy of that submission. That creates extra work because documents have to be scanned in over and over and it makes it harder to review what was covered at a patient's last visit. It also lacks the ability to send emails with password-protected encrypted documents which would be a huge improvement for meeting privacy legislation requirements.

easy navigation

Pros

It has been a really efficient system to work with, from scheduling appointments to all the customization options, the treatment planner and the patient chart. It keeps everything in one place and overall it's very user-friendly and convenient to navigate.

Cons

Filling out patient chart can be a bit tricky because the numbers are packed so closely together which makes it harder for me to catch mistakes.

hard to use this software

Pros

Setup went really smooth, it launches fairly fast and the customer support team has been amazing whenever we needed help.

Cons

Using it day to day is honestly one of the toughest parts. There are far too many pop-up windows and almost every button opens yet another screen. It gets overwhelming fast especially for front desk staff who aren't very comfortable with computers.

reliable dental office staple

Pros

Between jobs, I spent some time working as an Office Manager for a dental office chain that ran on this tool and it honestly proved to be a very powerful system. It handled patient records, appointments, scheduling, dental x-rays and the other day-to-day tasks we needed without any trouble. Everything felt organized and dependable and I never ran into technical problems while using it. Overall it's a strong piece of software that really helps lighten the workload for dental office owners.

Cons

There honestly wasn't much to complain about with this software. If I had to point out anything at all, maybe I'd say the application colors could use some improvement but that's about it.

fast adoption

Pros

Getting started with it was easy and our staff learned how to use it very quickly. It also integrates well with other software once the bridge is purchased and the support team/customer service has been very helpful.

Cons

Extra charges for added features is a recurring downside. Also, if you want to connect it with other hardware or software, you have to buy a separate bridge or link.

Powerful reporting features

Pros

Right from the start, this software makes the workday much more manageable because it's incredibly user friendly. I know them so well at this point I could practically use it blindfolded. The layout, icons and buttons all make sense and there's a tool for just about everything I need to get done. The reporting features are really strong too.

Cons

Lack of a dedicated area for specialty dentists like Perio is a noticeable gap. There isn't a proper place for me to document bone grafts or implants.

office efficiency powerhouse

Pros

Having it in place keeps our office running at a steady, efficient pace. Since the modules are integrated, the information we need is always right there and charting and documentation are very simple. Using it honestly feels like adding an extra virtual staff member to the team.

Cons

Every now and then, an update brings along a hidden issue that affects performance and ends up requiring time-consuming calls with tech support. That said those situations are the exception rather than something that happens regularly.

Consistently delivers

Pros

There's a lot to appreciate about this product but the standout for me is how simple it is to use.

Cons

Fixing glitches without forcing everyone to log out would be an improvement that I look forward to have in it.

keeps our office running

Pros

From scheduling and blocking time on the calendar to pulling up patient records and reviewing the many helpful reports, this software covers a lot of what we need every day. The layout is user-friendly and fairly simple and the customization options are a big plus. Being able to create and modify templates in the chart module is especially useful. Honestly I can't picture running our office without it. Several staff members have even mentioned that they prefer it over any other practice management system they've worked with.

Cons

At times some modules do lag. That could partly be due to our system but I do think the program itself is mostly responsible. Another frustration is how slowly updates are released, along with the lack of action on features users have been requesting, recommending or practically pleading for through MyVoice feature

OUTSTANDING customer support

Pros

Right from the start, this system has performed really well. It's dependable, works amazingly well and the customer service team has been excellent whenever needed.

Cons

Multi-site management isn't something it was built for but it's for a single-site setup, it's a really nice system to have.

well-organized scheduling

Pros

Compared with most dental software I've used, this one felt much simpler to work with. The scheduling section was nicely organized and the color coding made everything much clearer.

Cons

Few tasks inside the software were still a bit difficult especially when trying to make patient accounts simple to access.

lots to explore in this tool

Pros

There are a lot of different areas in the system to work through which I really enjoy. Whenever questions come up, customer support is always happy to remote in and assist and the training videos are also helpful to have when you need extra guidance.

Cons

A couple of things can be frustrating at times. For example, when a child has separated parents and insurance through both, they have to be added under the same account instead of keeping everyone separate the way Eaglesoft does. Another minor issue is emailing a patient their ledger when they ask for it it takes quite a few steps and feels more complicated than it should be.

well defined charting features

Pros

Getting around the system is very simple and it does a good job of presenting a lot of complex features in a clear way. The charting tools are easy to use and label, chart notes are quick to manage and it integrates really well with other dental software.

Cons

It can feel a little overwhelming because there are so many options displayed mainly as pictures. Once you learn where everything is though, it becomes very easy to use.

Handy tooth chart

Pros

Navigating the software feels pretty easy and it's user-friendly overall. The tooth chart features work well and the multi-code function is something I really appreciate.

Cons

Reporting side still needs work though. The filters don't always return the exact information I'm looking for and the reports it generates could definitely be more accurate.

familiar but frustrating updates

Pros

With dental software, there really are not many options so it usually comes down to just a couple of choices and it is one of them. After your practice has been using it for a while, you do get accustomed to how it works but it still never really feels smooth or like it saves much time.

Cons

List of issues is long enough to be hard to summarize. More than once, we have had to cancel patients because an "update" shut down every computer until it finished. Customer support can be helpful when you happen to reach the right person but when the issue keeps happening over and over, there is usually not much real help.

Packed with powerful functions

Pros

This software has been around forever and we were using it back in the terminal era before Windows networks were even common. After all these years, I can honestly say it covers just about everything. It offers more functionality than any other program I've come across and my dental office has become more efficient over time simply by learning how to use its different tools and modules. Another big plus is the online forum, where users can submit ideas and vote on other suggestions. The company actually pays attention to that feedback and builds the most requested features into the product so it really feels like the software has grown based on what its users wanted.

Cons

There really isn't much I would call bad about it. If anything, the biggest challenge is that it has so much functionality that it can feel overwhelming at times. Their online services which they call Eservices, could also be better especially for things like patient reminder texts and similar features. Other than that, proper training is absolutely essential and ongoing training is really the key to getting the most success out of the software.

trusted dental solution

Pros

After more than 30 years of using it, this software still covers everything we need to deliver excellent dental care to our patients. It was already a very strong product from the start and I also appreciate that the company listens to user feedback and includes many of the most requested suggestions in later updates.

Cons

I'm overall very satisfied with the software. If I had to point out one downside, it would be with some of the add-on features. For instance, the credit card processing add-on worked alongside the tool and was a valuable integrated feature but at the time we used it, there was no flexibility in choosing the processing company. Every office had to use the same processor no matter the discount rates or other considerations. We were able to find a better rate with similar service through another provider but that option did not integrate with the software. That issue was not really with the core program itself which has been wonderful.

feature-packed and staff-friendly

Pros

It comes with pretty much all the features you'd expect and the eSync app brings in a lot of extra services that are actually useful. Getting started doesn't take much effort either the software is generally easy to use and staff can usually pick it up without much training.

Cons

Slowdowns and frequent troubleshooting make the software feel poorly designed at times. Another concern is security: if you're not using the latest version, the database isn't encrypted with a unique passphrase so upgrading is really important. On top of that, the pricing feels very high, like most big-name products so it's worth comparing other options before committing.

Training clicks fast

Pros

It's honestly impressive how fast someone with little or no dental background can get up to speed. With a bit of training on how it works, they can start managing dental scheduling, billing and insurance claims pretty quickly.

Cons

Only real downside I can think of is having to shut down other workstations during updates. That said it sounds like they're already working toward automated evening updates so even this issue may not be much of a problem for long.

familiar layout and responsive support

Pros

This Software has a menu system that feels familiar right away especially if you've used older Windows interfaces like XP or Windows 7. Their support team is very reliable and can usually fix problems in a single session. I also really appreciate how customizable the management windows are, both in terms of what details you display and where everything sits and being able to share those settings across other workstations is a big plus.

Cons

The interface does look a little dated even though the software itself is still very capable. There's also a lot going on in the system so new users can feel overwhelmed by the number of buttons and the many sub-sections within each window. On the occasions I've needed to reach support, there's usually been a brief wait which not only takes extra time but also makes me wonder whether they're short-staffed or if a lot of users are running into issues.
