all-in-one suite for everything

Pros

I find this software to be an all-in-one suite that brings several different applications together in one place. It lets me manage billing, create chart notes and handle scheduling all within the same platform without needing to jump between programs.

Cons

For me the price is quite steep and up to this point I haven't noticed it being markedly different from the other EHR systems we've looked at or considered.

Cloud-based with a good flow

Pros

The flow of this product and its cloud-based setup are features I really like. and once I got the hang of it, it proved to be very user friendly and easy to use.

Cons

I found the training to be less efficient than I'd like the sessions were so short that I constantly felt I needed to absorb information more quickly.

affordable with many features

Pros

I am pleasantly surprised by how affordable it is, it offers a wide range of features and in my experience it runs far more smoothly than the old Soapware EHR we used plus their email support replies quickly.

Cons

To me the interface can feel clunky and not very user friendly and I frequently have to click into and back out of multiple screens just to reach the section I am trying to access.

extremely hard and disorganized

Pros

What I appreciate is that there's an app for the iPhone, an app for the Apple Watch and another for the iPad and I can also access the system from any brand of desktop computer

Cons

I find it extremely hard to use it doesn't run smoothly throughout a patient visit. The interface feels very disorganized and I cannot easily locate items. As it's not user-friendly. I am also frustrated that creating a template tailored to a specific patient population is difficult.

software layout impressed me

Pros

To my surprise the software layout impressed me I had heard from several people that it was cluttered yet I actually truly experienced the exact opposite overall.

Cons

Wasn't fond of how many clicks were required to get through certain menus and dropdowns though the advantages still outweigh the drawbacks.

private practice in psychiatry

Pros

Being a solo practice, Ive found the product and its price quite reasonable. It is an easy product to use, like their EMR, their electronic prescription, electronic billing and all of it. Billing has been made quite easy with this EMR. It is cost effective as well, and once insurance pays their portion the patient statements are automatically created, which is super amazing. It has everything in it.

Cons

They take time to respond back, theyre not prompt in responding. The customer service teams needs to work on that, they usually are unable to answer a simple question even and take a lot of time to answer that. Would love it if they offer more templates for psychiatric practice.

Much easier to pick up

Pros

I have found this much easier to pick up and operate than ePIC, Allscripts and the other systems I have used before. The customer support is great whenever I need help and our account representative goes above and beyond in guiding our practice and helping to fix any problems.

Cons

Payment posting could use some refinement although I have been told improvements are underway. For example, when I post an adjustment that gets denied and I have to write it off, the system doesn't automatically remove it instead it leaves the amount in the insurance balance until I add a separate adjustment line with a 45 reason code. I submitted that suggestion and they're currently implementing the change.

Worked well for my startup

Pros

For my startup dental sleep medicine practice, this product worked really well. I found it extremely easy to use and it made billing claims much easier to handle based on the notes provided.

Cons

I found it lacked many features and felt like fairly basic software. If someone needs more advanced capabilities, I'd recommend exploring other options though it served our needs well when we were just getting started.

strong billing and e-rx features

Pros

I have found the program includes strong electronic medical billing tools that handle the digital aspects of clinical practice really well and the electronic prescription e-Rx feature is also a useful and great addition.

Cons

Support was somewhat slow and seemed underinformed. I repeatedly had trouble getting clear answers even for very basic and simple questions from them.

user friendly and packed with features

Pros

As a regular user I have found the software really user friendly, packed with features and truly an all in one solution that makes juggling tasks feel effortless.

Cons

I'd also like a more modern look and it would help if reaching customer support wasn't so difficult as waiting on hold forever is really frustrating.

No tech support and epcs outages

Pros

I appreciate receiving e-faxes digitally and I find the e-refill process fairly easy the price is competitive and the custom appointment profiles are a nice touch.

Cons

I was surprised there isn't a tech support phone number. As we can only contact support by email. In my experience their replies have taken weeks and many of our problems remain unresolved. Staff will tell us they'll investigate an issue and then we hear nothing further. Today ePCS was down the entire day. I tried calling the sales line and nobody picked up and the sales voicemail was even full. I emailed every contact I had and received no reply. When I finally messaged tech support they claimed ePCS was fixed and operational but in reality it still wasn't working for us. I am frustrated by having no way to speak to a real person there's no one to give an eTA or to actually address the outage. honestly because of situations like this I wouldn't pick this EMR again. Another annoying limitation is that you cannot write a chart note without first creating an appointment and the SOAPNOTe setup feels too complex. Our outgoing e-faxes have been malfunctioning and nobody has followed up about that either. There are no dedicated lab, radiology, or pathology tabs so we end up assigning tags manually in every chart. electronic lab results and uploaded lab documents won't go into the same folder which is a workflow pain. After we provided our credit card the sales rep disappeared and it feels like no one cares whether our account is actually working.

Very customizable with many features

Pros

I find it very customizable and it offers a wide range of features for billing, scheduling, alerts, messaging, lab integrations and faxing. In short it works well for an integrated office that has multiple locations and doctors.

Cons

From my experience long custom macro sets tend to lag when they're loading. Also, keeping separate tabs open for the scheduler and for each patient's note can slow the system down. I also wish there were a way to get an instant peek at someone's records without having to click through several buttons.

Recurring issues with no fixes

Pros

One feature I appreciate is that I can change the exam format to suit my needs.

Cons

I only have this software because it was included when I bought the clinic and I have been dealing with the same recurring issues for a long time. They've cost me both time and money, even though I have submitted multiple work order tickets to drchrono for fixes yet the problem keeps coming back.

Combines ehr, pos and scheduling

Pros

For our practice, the toughest part was locating software that combined an EHR, point-of-sale functionality and appointment scheduling in one package. I found that DRChrono covers all of that and provides open APIs for CRM integration.

Cons

We ran into some tricky backend setup because we had to write the APIs ourselves. Still, those open APIs let us customize the system to fit our needs.

excellent care coordination, bug-ridden scheduling

Pros

I find it incredibly user friendly, runs smoothly on my iPad and supports coordinating care across different providers like MDs, PTs, OTs, massage, dietitians.

Cons

Unable to track visit totals or record authorization numbers and appointment scheduling is awkward. Several times the system sent reminders with the wrong time because the time zone was misconfigured. After repeatedly contacting customer support it took weeks to adjust, yet the issue has recurred. I have observed multiple glitches in the system that, for some reason, remain unaddressed and it disrupts clinic workflows regularly.

Provider workflow is illogical

Pros

I have found a lot to like, starting with the many pre-programmed macros that save time. The built-in dictation feature works really well for me. electronic prescribing is reliable on the app-based version although when I use the web-based interface I have to enter a zip code to locate a pharmacy.

Cons

The web-based version feels completely different from the mobile app and that inconsistency frustrated me from the start. I find the provider workflow to be pretty illogical as the sequence of steps required to move through the system is difficult and slows me down. entering patient data is awkward because the fields for medical history, family history social history and similar items are very small making it hard to capture everything properly. In the beginning none of the patient information I entered was being saved such as medical and family histories would disappear and our IT staff ended up working with drchrono to add and enable a button so the information would actually be stored. I also couldn't compare previous lab results side by side with new ones which makes tracking trends difficult. Results don't automatically populate into a patient's chart so I cannot message patients directly from the screen that shows lab or imaging results. instead I have to open the patient's chart to send a message and then return to the message or task center to continue processing other results which is inefficient.

amazingly fast and helpful support

Pros

Their customer support is amazingly fast and genuinely helpful. As whenever I reach out for assistance I typically hear back by email or phone within a single day which I really appreciate.

Cons

There are times when features are buried or labeled in ways that don't make sense and I often have to dig around to find them. Usually a quick conversation with customer support clears it up but it's still annoying. I am also frustrated by the patient list as we can sort by appointment but not by provider and that limitation feels illogical for how I work.

way too many bugs

Pros

I really appreciate how clean the dashboards and menus are I find that simplicity to be one of the standout aspects of the product. Also, the more advanced reporting tools, the charting capabilities and the RX functionality are all thoughtfully designed and work well.

Cons

When I first signed up I noticed they still had a few technical bugs that affected my early experience.

smooth access on desktop and ipad

Pros

In my practice the feature I like most about DrChrono is how smoothly I can access it on both desktop computers and iPads which makes charting while I am with patients in exam rooms or when I am out of town much easier. I also really appreciate that our DrChrono setup integrates with Quest Diagnostics, allowing me to place lab orders from my computer and have results routed back to us promptly via the system's messaging function.

Cons

Customer service is a drawback not because the support quality is poor but because it's handled online, meaning I have to submit a ticket or wait for a phone callback to speak with someone. I am not aware of any other support options available and that can be frustrating when I need immediate help.

amazing apple and mobile compatibility

Pros

Apple and mobile device compatibility is simply amazing. As I can just click the drop-down arrows to choose options. Because I am a small practice doing a lot of marketing, being able to book and reschedule patients when I am away from the office is something I really appreciate as it's made managing appointments while out so much easier.

Cons

It's frustrating that the system won't send emails using our domain so many recipients ignore messages that come from drchrono.com. I wish the Microsoft version had the same features I use on Apple because that discrepancy causes unnecessary communication gaps for my practice.
