“Great on clinics, poor on billing
Pros
From a clinical perspective I find DrChrono to be excellent as it is very customizable and easy to operate, whether I am working on a desktop computer or using my iPad.
Cons
However I cannot run billing analytics across multiple sites the way we'd like and there's no real-time customer support. I have experienced waits that can stretch from a few hours to several months before getting any sort of response to an issue.

“organized but needs personalization
Pros
I find the schedule simple to view and adjust. The eRx workflow feels user friendly and helpful and the charting and documentation are organized.
Cons
In our practice we can adjust templates at the organizational level but it's not easy for each clinician to personalize their own workspace. The patient intake form won't auto-fill PMH or current medications and the assessment doesn't transfer into billing codes or the problem list so we end up re-entering the same information repeatedly.

“excellent training, broken billing
Pros
Truly I love that the SOAP notes are completely customizable and I find the web-based platform fantastic the onboarding training and ongoing support have also been excellent.
Cons
We've had an extremely frustrating experience with billing setup and support as after months of working with them we still cannot submit the majority of our claims. Scheduling is also a pain for rehab patients as it's difficult to arrange recurring treatment plans or quickly glance to see when a patient's next appointment is which slows our workflow and causes confusion.

“easy tools, wrong for chiropractic
Pros
I like the freehand drawing tool and I find handling insurance payments and eOBs pretty easy. Also the scheduling is simple to manage and formatting SOAP notes is simple yet reliable.
Cons
For me it's not well suited to chiropractic practices. I feel the system is geared more toward larger hospitals and I am unable to print statements or superbills for a specific date range.

“Limited note customization and training
Pros
Well I am happy it's cloud-based and the integration with TriZetto is probably the single best thing we discovered when deciding whether to switch to this EHR.
Cons
I found the note customization far more limited compared to the EHR I previously used. The trainer assigned to us appeared to have no medical or chiropractic background. Since we run a chiropractic practice, she clearly had no idea how to create notes suitable for our office. When I asked how to document an outcome assessment she genuinely asked what that meant and said she'd follow up later. Instead of answering, her manager sent me a link to a third-party app that we'd have to purchase.

“limited email blasts
Pros
I have found data entry in this program to be very simple and user-friendly. It is pretty user friendly overall as when I type a patient's ZIP code it automatically completes the city and state for me.
Cons
For my part the email blasts feature could use improvement as for now it's pretty restrictive. I cannot add anything beyond plain text so there's no room for richer formatting or multimedia in those messages.

“extremely user-friendly product
Pros
Actually I find the product extremely user-friendly and I can move easily from one screen to another and I can generate reports without difficulty.
Cons
It's not as adaptable as I'd hoped for tailoring to our business needs and I find that some features simply aren't offered in our particular program model.

“stores medical information clearly
Pros
I find that being able to store various kinds of my patients' medical information in a compact, organized way really helps me keep everything clear and accessible.
Cons
When I click certain links, they launch in new browser windows which forces me to take extra steps to close those additional windows.

“User friendly with fantastic team
Pros
It is very user-friendly and the training, customer support, functionality and the look of the chart note all stand out to me. The team behind it is fantastic!
Cons
Searching for the chart note is not as easy as I'd prefer and I also miss having a built-in MIPS registry which is a drawback for me.

“easy to use and customizable
Pros
We really like how easy this program is to use and that most parts of it can be customized to our needs. It is genuinely user-friendly.
Cons
I find it frustrating that there isn't a way to view plotted growth data on a desktop computer as it's only available on the iPad. There are also several other functions that work on the iPad but are missing or restricted on desktop and in my view almost everything should be usable on both platforms. Not every practice has iPads so this limitation really needs careful rethinking.

“apple-based and efficient templates
Pros
Being an Apple user I appreciate that the platform is Apple-based which makes using templates and managing consent forms simple and efficient. I also like that I can access everything from either my iPad or my computer.
Cons
I often find the webinars difficult to follow and I am not always clear from the tutorials how to create macros or set up templates so learning those parts can be frustrating.

“apple enterprise and user-friendly
Pros
I like that DrChrono is an Apple enterprise partner and I find it user-friendly for both patients and clinicians. Pricing feels comprehensive too, rather than piecemeal and the EHR is cloud-based and provides real-time access.
Cons
When setting things up, I have found that designing custom templates can be pretty time-consuming which I expected even though the overall rollout itself moved along relatively quickly. Support is handled through email or chat submissions and in my experience someone from IT calls me back promptly so I don't end up waiting on hold forever. It did take me a bit to adjust to not having an 800 number to dial but I have to admit the IT team is very responsive once I submit a help request. One minor issue is they're on West Coast hours while our practice operates on the east Coast so the time difference is a small inconvenience rather than a major drawback.

“Easy
Pros
It is web-based. The support is amazing. Our office work is not the typical kind that any EMR would work, but I am glad this worked for us. The customer service was great and flexible, and helped us step by step in every way possible. You can easily open multiple tabs and add a wide field. It is an easy and great product to use.
Cons
There needs to be a choice to select between him/her, in the form building module.

“easy to use with excellent training
Pros
What I really like is how easy this software is to use. Plus I received excellent training to get started smoothly.
Cons
I'd really like to have the features that are on the iPad brought over to a touch-screen computer as well.

“simple to use and outstanding support
Pros
I have found it incredibly simple to use and customize to my needs, with outstanding support and a price that does not break the bank. It works on iPads and iPhones and I can log in from anywhere there is internet or cell service. Patients also find it easy for entering their demographics and the patient portal is excellent.
Cons
My experience with the voice dictation has been unreliable as it sometimes cuts out or stops working unexpectedly, while at other times it's impressively precise and accurate.

“User and patient friendly
Pros
As a user I find it very user- and patient-friendly, with the ability to color-code items, simple to navigate and keep organized and genuinely paperless throughout.
Cons
Unfortunately, I have noticed there's no waitlist feature in the software, clinical notes don't print with the proper formatting and the app frequently lags even when my internet connection seems fine.

“great layout
Pros
I really like how user friendly it is. As there is no cluttered interface. The layout and design are great too and I can customize the setup to suit my workflow exactly how I want.
Cons
Occasionally the cloud connection feels slow although that doesn't happen often and when it does I just move to a spot with a stronger iPad Wi-Fi signal and it usually clears up.

“Incredibly easy to use and impressed
Pros
Dr. Chrono is incredibly easy to use and I am really impressed with how it's set up. At my clinic we almost never run into issues with the system.
Cons
One feature I'd like to see is the ability to scan documents directly into a patient's chart, rather than having to save files to my computer first and then upload them into the chart.

“simple for quick charting
Pros
I find DrChrono incredibly easy to use it makes charting quick and efficient and I appreciate that it supports communication between staff members.
Cons
We really need a clear way to indicate which patients are in which exam rooms so everyone maintains the right order from arrival and an orders area specifically designed for support staff would be very helpful.

“Poor data retrieval and glitchy on ipad
Pros
It does a decent job as a data-entry EHR. I ran it on both my Mac and iPad and, after investing quite a bit of customization, I was able to document everything I needed. Since it's HTML-based, I find it very portable and it runs smoothly across different devices.
Cons
I find retrieving patient information incredibly frustrating. For instance, when a patient calls and my receptionist has to pull up their history, it requires multiple types and clicks and the needed details feel hidden as if they were an afterthought. When I am thinking about a patient's history I want it one click away to see what I did for them and why they came in should be instantly visible. The lag caused by DrChrono was big enough that after a year I ended my contract, even though switching systems was a major issue. Working in a patient chart on the iPad is awkward and hunting down past notes there is even more cumbersome than on my desktop. That inefficiency really adds up and slows our workflow. On top of that, the subscription cost is steep for what you actually receive especially when there are free platforms or cheaper alternatives that meet many of the same needs. Overall the combination of poor data retrieval, clunky iPad navigation and high pricing pushed me away despite the relatively good core documentation features.
