“simple and ideal for small practices
Pros
I find it simple, easy to learn, neat and tidy. Ideal for small practices. Very well organized throughout.
Cons
From my experience it's not well suited for larger practices with several specialists and multiple sites. Appointment templates must be reorganized to support practices across buildings.

“portable with useful templates
Pros
One of the biggest strengths for me is how accessible and portable this product is. I can pull up any current patient's information instantly whenever I need it. The templates are extremely useful and if I take the time to customize them to fit my workflow, I am certain I'll reap the benefits.
Cons
I'd really like the software to include a built-in feature that can convert CPT codes into ICD-10 codes and ideally offer the reverse conversion from ICD-10 back to CPT as well.

“accessible anywhere but hard to navigate
Pros
Because it's cloud-based, I can access the system from anywhere. A lot of the templates are tweakable so they match my clinic's workflow. Patients get appointment reminders easily via text or email.
Cons
I am not thrilled with its usability. It's tricky to navigate to different sections of a patient's record. Many of the features cannot be customized. My patients aren't big fans of the portal overall although they do appreciate using it to message our clinic staff. Also, getting through to customer support by phone is nearly impossible at times.

“Portable app with responsive support
Pros
From my perspective, the app's portability and eRA billing work really well, their customer support is responsive, the native iPad apps are amazing, it is easy to use and I like the iPhone scheduling.
Cons
I have been warned that pricing could increase in coming years, the clinical notes area feels like it could use refinement, the sales tax tool is lacking and the patient statement feature also needs work.

“extremely easy to use and customize
Pros
I find it extremely easy to use I am able to provide superbills to my patients, set up my own charting templates and let patients schedule appointments online.
Cons
When I am on the go, I cannot schedule or cancel breaks from the mobile app and that limitation makes managing my day pretty inconvenient.

“easy to use with clear interface
Pros
I am finding it really easy to use as the interface is clear, customer support is very helpful, it is continually improving and it can be customized to meet my needs.
Cons
If you need to be up and running right away, I had to face a learning curve of about three to six months before feeling fully comfortable.

“Build customized templates quickly
Pros
The good thing is that I am able to build customized templates which makes documenting individual patients both quick and easy. Their customer support was excellent too when I had questions and the teleconference training fit nicely into my schedule and timing.
Cons
Since I have a cash-based practice, I don't make much use of the insurance billing tools. Also, I wish the iPhone app displayed the day's patient schedule so I could see appointments at a glance.

“Pictures, confirmations and reminders
Pros
For me the app provides Pictures, Confirmations, Reminders and Future visit reminders.
Cons
I haven't run into any issues as everything I need is available and if something's missing, customer support will probably build it for me.

“Clean interface and easy scheduling
Pros
I really like the clean interface and the iPad app is. I also find scheduling incredibly easy and it makes tracking billing and keeping an eye on my money very simple and issue-free.
Cons
One drawback I found is that building templates can be a bit tricky though I managed to work through it I also dislike that there isn't a phone number for technical support since everything is handled through ticketing only.

“Managing schedule has been a clear plus
Pros
Managing the schedule has been a clear plus for me. Our account manager and the help desk have provided excellent support. The superbill feature is genuinely useful and the daily billing tool makes progress easy to track.
Cons
On occasion I struggle to handle insurance denials. We also ran into a few intake-related problems but our account manager helped us sort them out.

“Front-office setup is user friendly
Pros
The whole front-office setup is really user friendly and simple to navigate. I put effort into building custom templates and that investment has definitely paid off by saving me time down the road.

I don't have any complaints.

“Great EHR
Pros
It has almost been 5 years since weve been using drchrono. When I fist got to know that we will be switching our EHR, I was a little hesitant at first, but I believe it was one of the best changes we have ever implemented. I was really surprised at how easy it was to learn, it was really easy for everyone to use it, from staff to patients, literally everyone. There have been several improvements made to the drchrono software, which has made it more better. The customer support is also great. It is also accessible from any device, which have made it easier to work in and out of our offices.
Cons
We like sending our patients newsletters and stuff, and as drchrono has all the records stored in it, it makes sending emails easier, but I would like a feature that could send emails other than simple text. If they add this feature it would be really great and helpful. If this gets added into drchrono, it will eliminate our needs to use any other software to send e-mail blasts.

“strong analysis, however unclear rejections
Pros
As a user, I find it inexpensive and its A/R analysis is really useful.
Cons
What frustrates me is that it doesn't explain why bills get rejected.

“easy to use with user friendly interface
Pros
I find it really easy to use as the interface is user friendly. All physician and nurse documentation can be completed from an iPad. Plus it includes built-in speech recognition. Templates are simple to customize. And there is a huge template library. They keep releasing updated how-to videos on their YouTube channel as new features arrive. Trainers and tech support are friendly and patient. I also like the extensive Mayo Clinic patient education materials and the optional full-service medical billing.
Cons
What bugs me most is the name saying DrChrono feels awkward and I cannot bring myself to type it in all lowercase. It's entirely cloud-based which I generally prefer over self-hosting but when my ISP drops the office goes dark. The clinical decision support tools are buried and tricky to use. I also find the help articles occasionally outdated and the Mayo Clinic patient education materials aren't well indexed.

“Very user and provider friendly
Pros
As a clinician, I find the EMR very user and provider friendly and it is simple to customize to my workflow. The revenue cycle management tools are also powerful and let me quickly assess how our practice is performing. Because it is cloud-based, I can access it anywhere from my computer, iPad or iPhone.
Cons
After shifting from a solo practice to a multi-provider, multi-location setup, I ran into several features that don't scale as smoothly some workflows feel clunky in a group environment. Also, small inconsistencies between the desktop and iPad versions bother me and can be fairly annoying during day-to-day use.

“e-prescribing and impressive information
Pros
I find it useful in lots of ways for example, the e-prescribing feature lets me send prescriptions straight from my office. The amount of patient information it provides is really impressive and very helpful.
Cons
For my small office many features in the program are things I won't use, while a larger company would. What bothers me is that you cannot disable or separate those extra parts.

“Chart on ipad with helpful billing
Pros
On my iPad I can chart using the app and the EMR supports faxing both from the app and on the main website. also I have found their billing team very helpful, the billing system is easy to use and it is more affordable than the other EMRs I trialed.
Cons
honestly the note templates look pretty plain when printed and the lab and X-ray order forms are similarly basic I wish they were more polished. I am also frustrated that I cannot schedule tasks or reminders for future dates and there's no notification if a fax fails to send.

“easy patient booking but poor family options
Pros
Really I like that patients can book appointments right through the portal. They can actually select a specific appointment time instead of merely requesting mornings or afternoons. The system also works smoothly on an iPad which I find convenient.
Cons
One major frustration I have had is that you cannot create multiple portal accounts using the same email address which complicates things for families or shared addresses. I also cannot specify which particular form or questionnaire gets sent to patients through the portal and the platform insists on having the subscriber's name, date of birth and address to bill insurance. Lastly, there doesn't seem to be any way to link a subscriber to their dependents which makes managing family records more cumbersome.
