This software allows us to do many things simpler dental software cannot, especially with reporting. There are many comprehensive reports that let us see whats happening throughout our practice, including production, collections, insurance, and accounts receivable. Most importantly, it helps us keep track of everything from a clinical and administrative perspective.
Cons
Customer support with Eaglesoft is severely lacking. Every time we encounter any issues or bugs, we are politely told to deal with it until the next software update, and they make it very difficult to perform these updates.

Support answers the phone eventually, but usually, the issue is that development has not fixed an old problem and hasn't kept up with technology.
Cons
Development and fixes for Eaglesoft seem to have stopped 15 years ago. Any changes made today are mainly cosmetic. The imaging resolution is outdated, and I can't save HD images or use HD cameras without lowering the resolution to get Eaglesoft to work. The database is still a 32-bit system in a 64-bit world.

There's good integration between the schedule, images, and treatment plan. I love how we can do the same task in 2-3 different ways.
Cons
The customization options for teeth charting are very poor, the menus are non-intuitive and complex, and it's extremely slow to incorporate the latest technology. It still cannot be used on Apple devices and takes at least six months to install after every new Windows version. In 2022, it's shocking that it's not mobile-friendly.

Cons
Occasionally, there are glitches, and the company never warns us ahead of time. We usually only find out when we call in to see whats going on. Like any software, Eaglesoft can have issues, but it would be helpful if they informed us beforehand.

Eaglesoft has so many features that make practice management a lot easier for me. Their reports, charting, and treatment planning are very organized. I love the insurance aging report and how I can make notes that are trackable and filterable through the insurance outstanding claim window. This saves me a lot of time. There are so many features I love.
Cons
The only improvement I'd like to see is the ability to print patient notes directly from their chart note screen instead of going to patient master notes.

Without guidance, it's tough to navigate the platform and understand its capabilities. For instance, there are various keyboard shortcuts for finding a patient or looking up sensitive information, but the help icon never mentions these shortcuts.

The financial tab is easy for me to navigate through all financial transactions, with filters in the account to enter criteria like the period of time of payments or patients on the same account. The reporting is very clear, Production, Adjustment, Collection! Treatment plan reports and reports by procedure codes are great. Reports for certain periods of time can be done by the end of the day/month/year (closing reports) or by specific dates. This way, I can have perfect accuracy in data. Another great feature is the calendar window pinned on the left side of the screen, which easily lets me move to a different day.
Cons
Cancelled appointments go to the Quick Fill List, the only option for creating a contact for incomplete treatment. The notes on this appointment can be deleted anytime and do not show who did it and when unless entered manually, but this info can always be deleted.

I am learning Eaglesoft without training and find it very intuitive. When I filled in at a couple of offices, they didn't have time to train me, so I just figured it out. It wasn't hard. The designers did a great job making it easy to use.
Cons
I used PracticeWorks for 20 years, followed by OpenDental for a shorter time. Switching to a new program is always challenging. I should have had training and still can't figure out how to generate certain reports. When balancing the morning (if it's been busy, I like to balance at lunch to avoid mistakes at the end of the day), I can't generate a collectionreport.

Before I became a para, I worked part-time as a CDA and still do temping. My favorite dental software is Eaglesoft because it's easy to use, the dental chart is very easy, and it's easy to communicate with the front desk and other clinicians. I like how organized the schedule is; it's easy to invoice my work, schedule the next patient appointment, and collaborate with other dentists and referrals.
Cons
Although Eaglesoft is my favorite software, I encounter bugs sometimes. Occasionally, while writing a note, the software freezes or an error pops up. We've contacted Eaglesoft several times, and they've helped us.

Cons
Be aware that Eaglesoft doesn't support Windows Server 2019 as of 9/2020! I advised a client to buy a Windows Server 2019 system, never thinking that Patterson still wouldn't support an OS that's been out for nearly two years! The client is unhappy and stuck waiting for Patterson. This lack of support raises concerns about Patterson's stability and viability going forward. Very unusual.

Pros
This was by far the easiest dental software for me to learn in the healthcare field. The interface is simple and straightforward, which helps when you are new to the software and haven't memorized where everything is. The patient charting portion is the best and most helpful feature for me. I've used other software where this has been an issue, so it was refreshing to have this part flow so effortlessly.
Cons
I found no areas within this software to be subpar or unhelpful. It would be wrong to say I found anything that made me like it less because there was nothing I did not like.
