easy to use, slow unfriendly support

Pros

For the most part I find it easy to use, though a few sections become unnecessarily complicated.

Cons

The customer support is slow to respond and can come across as unfriendly and there are certain parts of the system that are difficult for me to figure out.

All encounters sorted only by date

Pros

I appreciate being able to view every one of my clinical encounters consolidated in a single location

Cons

What I don't like is that all my clinical encounters are sorted only by date which forces me to scroll or sift through the entire list whenever I am looking for a particular visit. there might be an option to reorganize them but I haven't discovered it yet.

smoothly jumps between sections

Pros

One feature I really like about eClinicalWorks is how smoothly I can jump between different sections. I also find it easy to look through patient charts and to update details in their demographics area.

Cons

I am bothered by eClinicalWorks in that some tasks demand more clicks and navigation than they should which feels unnecessary. When I compare it to our previous EHR, a few workflows end up taking longer in eClinicalWorks than they did in our older system.

Lots of functionality, many screens

Pros

ECW offers a lot of functionality. There are numerous tasks I can handle directly within the EHR that I couldn't accomplish with the systems we used previously. I also appreciate that their support staff respond promptly whenever our IT team runs into problems with the software.

Cons

It forces me to click through many more screens to finish a single task compared with the EHRs I used before.

Cluttered interface and crowded notes

Pros

It is fairly easy to get everything set up and start using it and I don't struggle much with finding my way around.

Cons

For me the user interface comes across as somewhat cluttered and the final outputs the notes feel crowded as well which means I don't find it easy to browse content without having to open each note. I also dislike the message center/labs notification area as the 'jelly beans' as they don't appeal to me.

simple, user-friendly after aprima

Pros

My company previously relied on Aprima as our main system but when we migrated to eClinicalWorks it turned out to be one of the best decisions we've made. It's simple, very user-friendly and we come across almost no bugs.

Cons

Rarely the system crashes which forces us to fall back on paper charts until it's back up.

Monitor claims and message staff

Pros

I can monitor claim submissions, set up follow-up actions for claims, assign tasks to office staff, scan documents and the status reports automatically populate into the claims. Messaging is built into the system so I can quickly pass information to staff and physicians without needing to leave the platform.

Cons

Every time I open a window I have to close it before I can open another one. It becomes really time-consuming to keep going in and out of different sections just to get to and resolve issues.

4.0

Technology-focused and user friendly

Pros

eClinicalWorks is very technology-focused and keeps pace with evolving EMR requirements. Overall I would say it is easy to train staff on and it's pretty user friendly for handling everyday tasks so figuring out how to use it for routine daily work is generally simple.

Cons

From my point of view, the platform leans heavily on IT which makes it feel somewhat removed from a clinician's real-world workflow. It isn't especially fast when it comes to implementing changes. Support technicians are frequently located overseas and because of that I sometimes struggle to communicate with them. their availability also doesn't always align with times that are most convenient for me.

Love the modern interface

Pros

I love the app's modern interface and how easy it is to navigate. I also found the ability to assign colors to different appointment types incredibly helpful, since it made spotting and organizing bookings much quicker.

Cons

Although I didn't spend a lot of time using it, there wasn't much about it that I didn't like.

Waste of time

Pros

Some of the new screens are easy to read and well formatted.

Cons

The system is not reliable and is always crashing. It takes too long for the chart to load. Worst customer services I have ever experienced. Difficult to use on mobile devices.

Incredibly user-friendly and simple

Pros

this system incredibly user-friendly as it's simple to learn and comes with a bunch of useful features.

Cons

From my experience the software can be painfully slow to respond and I have observed this same recurring problem while working at two different companies that both rely on ECW.

Pretty basic and easy to learn

Pros

The user interface is pretty basic. So yes it's easy to learn, simple to teach to others and moving between sections is clear and quick which can be vital depending on the patient or care scenario.

Cons

Sometimes I find it painfully slow especially when many people are on the system, after updates or when the internet connection isn't strong.

lightweight and cloud-accessible

Pros

The system is very fast and flexible, it is easy to use, makes it a lot easier for us as it is cloud-accessible. Your data is managed by them, and you don’t really have to worry about it, you can easily access it from anywhere and at any time. Companies who don’t have a proper IT infrastructure should definitely go for this option, it will make their lives easier.

Cons

The price can be a bit high for the cloud-based option as you have to pay them for managing your data and providing you all the services. Sometimes getting your credentials can be a challenge.

It goes beyond.

Pros

Two years back we switched from another EMR to eClinicalWorks and I must say this a great product. They think of the future and are making things better, so that patient care could keep on improving. The practice management is good, their clinical side is easy to use, and their patient engagement tool is amazing too. The way they keep on improving and introducing new functionalities and features, we believe that the investment we made in this product has been great. It also helps you out if you are starting out a small business of yours.

Cons

The report that it generates can’t be viewed easily, it needs another tool to do that, which make report viewing a bit difficult. Their query writer tool is a very powerful and great tool but requires knowledge of query writing to use it the way it is meant to be used. Many small to medium sized companies usually don’t have that kind of advanced knowledge to use it.

eClinical is best for large practices.

Pros

It is quite easy to get your hands on this EHR system, as their functions and features are pretty straightforward. It easily accommodates all your practitioners and staff as it allows and handles a large volume of files and databases. It manages everything easily from medical offices to patient charting, but I think it would work better for large practices, as we are a small practice and the price is quite expensive.

Cons

Their tech support team responds very quickly but the fact of them helping you is not immediate. To get things and issues actually fixed takes time. eClinical is expensive, just to let you all know.

Incredibly user-friendly with helpful features

Pros

I have found this program incredibly user-friendly and packed with helpful features that I rely on every day. It manages the full range of information we handle routinely and even our physicians appreciate it because it lets them complete many tasks electronically.

Cons

What bothers me is that there's no way to print the claim history directly from the account inquiry page. I think that feature should be added. I am also frustrated by how our bad debt claims are managed because it makes it difficult for me to quickly see the account balance at a glance.

Modern features, great basic billing

Pros

The EMR and front-office modules is packed with a lot of modern, useful features and I also find the basic billing capabilities to be great.

Cons

That said, I think the enterprise billing and reporting features lack sophistication and the interface feels cluttered and inconsistent.

Really user-friendly for quick learning

Pros

As per me eClinicalWorks interface is really user-friendly. I picked things up while working and was feeling confident with the basics after just two days on the job. It also makes it easy to see who handled each task which helps keep continuity of care and makes future training and fixing errors much simpler.

Cons

It really annoys me that when I am editing a note and someone else anywhere opens and types in the same document, it wipes out what I have entered. I also get frustrated that I cannot open Hub when it's already running in another window or tab. These little quirks seriously disrupt my workflow and steal time from my already packed day.
