Unreliable with inadequate support

Pros

Both the providers and care managers of ours really like the user-friendly features of MEDENT.

Cons

We have found this product to be really unstable. The lack of consistency in daily use is a big concern for both providers and care managers. This instability really affects our providers while they’re trying to attend to their patients. Plus the support from Medent has been very poor too.

Medent is a complete package

I love that this software because it is a complete package. From scheduling to electronic health records, coding, billing and prescribing everything is available here.

Cons

Supportive support staff

Pros

Their customer support is simply the best as they are always available to answer our questions. We never feel embarrassed or hesitant to contact them. And our medical staff is not very computer-literate but still they patiently answer all their queries. Highly appreciated.

There are no cons, but they could develop some nice training guides and manuals, so we would not have to call them so often.

I like the layout

Pros

I found Medent super easy to use for billing. The layout is great as it allows me to quickly see what's been paid and what hasn't. It is also easy to jump into a patient's chart and leave a message for the doctor, whether it is a patient question or a refill request. Honestly, I really enjoyed the layout of a patient's chart as here everything is so clear and easy to see!

Cons

They do not tally the EOB for insurance companies especially if it is a large amount.

It is easy to understand and very intuitive. Our work just got easier after we got MEDENT EMR.

Cons

The use of capital letters can be a bit much too much. Plus importing pictures is not as easy as we thought, and Medent Mobile really needs an update with more features.

Poor customer support

Pros

We find it pretty simple to use but to the certain point. Also it is easy for the physicians to use too, but it can be tough on the back office staff.

Cons

It has not been modernized and does not integrate well with add-on software, which turned out to be very costly for us. Plus no one answers the phone and it takes forever to get a response. They do not handle troubleshooting updates well and do not answer the phone after pushing updates live. The list of issues goes on.

Avoid it!!

Pros

The reports are okay. I can print out the providers schedules, which helps me remember to tell the staff to cancel appointments. But I have to cut and paste everything into a Word document so I don't waste paper and can change the font size because everything that prints out is super tiny and hard to read!

Cons

Have to talk about the support! They only work banker's hours, so not before 8, not after 5 and they are not available during lunch, on weekends or holidays. If you run a healthcare business, this is not the EMR for you. And do not even get me started on scheduling. Like this EMR was definitely not designed to make it easy to adjust an ever-changing provider schedule. The prescription management is a joke too. There is no easy way to keep track of what is been filled and I've seen multiple mistakes happen. When a refill request comes in, it often looks like the prescription has already been filled at first glance, which is really dangerous.

It is not complicated and our staff could navigate through with little training.

I had a really frustrating experience with this system because it would crash and freeze daily, like several times a day. Technical support had no idea why it was happening and it would take hours before they got back to me. Honestly, it just was not reliable to use at all.

Medent was very easy to use for billing. The layout was clear which makes it easy to see what was paid and what was not. I also found it simple to enter messages for the doctor in a patient's chart, whether it was a patient question or a refill request. I particularly enjoyed how easy it was to view everything in a patient's chart once I was in it.

Cons

I did not like that when I entered a very large EOB from an insurance company, it did not keep a running tally of the payment, although this might have changed since I last used it.

Mednet is a Great software package!!

Pros

I find the customer service to be fantastic! The software is very easy to use and user-friendly. The features are a lifesaver with quick and easy downloading of EFTs, submitting statements to patients and filing electronic claims. The EMR is excellent as well.

Cons

The only downside is that when I call for assistance, I have to leave my information and wait for a return call. Although the return call is usually quick and prompt, I have to wait if I need immediate help.

Pros

After using other EMRs, I discovered Medent following a merger with a larger multi-specialty group. I struggled daily with Traknet for years and the thought of learning a new EMR was daunting. However, Medent has proven to be very easy to use and reliable. Their customer service has been excellent and highly responsive. I highly recommend Medent.

It is very cost-effective to operate. For 5 providers and 15 workstations in the office, including a complete EMR and billing system, the costs are excellent. The support is outstanding and they are very conscious of practice costs. They also provide great assistance with meeting meaningful use and other quality metrics.

Cons

Weekend support is poor. Updates are slow to be released. Programming errors take a long time to fix. Prescription writing has recently worsened, with slow improvements in functionality.
