medent suits independent and multi-specialty ambulatory practices that want clinical, billing, and patient engagement under one roof without third-party cloud dependency. Pricing works better for mid-size practices than solo providers on tight budgets. We recommend medent for practices of 2–50 providers that prioritize long-term stability over the lowest upfront cost.

Who Is medent for?

medent can be tailored to practices of all sizes and specialties to manage the patient's entire journey. From appointment reminders and online scheduling to AI-generated notes and revenue cycle management, medent is built for providers, practices, patients and ACOs. Some specialties include:

  • Primary care

  • Family practice

  • Orthopedics

  • Gastrology

medent Use Cases

Based on our assessment of user reviews and medent's current capabilities, we identified several situations where the platform aligns well with physician practices and outpatient healthcare organizations:

  1. Independent Practices Looking To Replace Multiple Systems

medent is a strong fit for independent practices that want to move away from disconnected tools for scheduling, charting, and billing. Having these functions within one platform can simplify day-to-day operations and reduce duplicate data entry. This setup is particularly useful for practices with limited administrative resources.

  1. Specialty Clinics Requiring Customized Documentation

Practices in specialties such as orthopedics, gastroenterology, and family medicine can benefit from medent's configurable templates and workflows. Organizations with unique documentation requirements may find the platform easier to adapt than systems with rigid structures. This flexibility supports consistency across providers and locations.

  1. Multi-Provider Offices Managing Revenue Cycle Activities In-House

medent works well for practices that prefer to handle billing internally rather than outsource revenue cycle operations. Clinical and financial data flow through the same system, allowing staff to manage charge capture, claims submission, and payment posting without switching platforms. This approach can help improve visibility into practice performance.

  1. ACOs And Provider Networks Focused On Care Coordination

medent is well-suited for accountable care organizations and physician networks that need to exchange information across providers. Practices participating in value-based care programs can use the platform to support patient engagement and information sharing while maintaining a consistent workflow across the organization. Its broad specialty coverage also makes it suitable for diverse provider groups.

Is medent right for you?

If your organization is an independent practice, multi-specialty clinic, community health center, or ACO that needs a fully integrated EHR without the hassle of third-party cloud dependency, medent is a strong fit. medent is an ONC-certified system with reliable in-house IT and support. Unlike other cloud-based EMR systems, medent manages and operates its own reliable cloud system, meaning you won't deal with the frequent downtimes competitor systems experience. Plus, their knowledgeable, responsive, in-house support team can resolve any issue by phone or remote access.

On the compliance side, medent holds ONC-Health IT 2015 Cures Edition certification issued by Drummond Group LLC, confirming it meets federal requirements for interoperability and patient data access.

Unreliable with inadequate support

Pros

Both the providers and care managers of ours really like the user-friendly features of MEDENT.

Cons

We have found this product to be really unstable. The lack of consistency in daily use is a big concern for both providers and care managers. This instability really affects our providers while they’re trying to attend to their patients. Plus the support from Medent has been very poor too.
