Right away, the specialty-focused layout stood out in a good way. It feels user-friendly to use, is simple to move through and helps save time thanks to efficient workflows. I also appreciate how customizable it is to match the specific needs of our practice which makes day-to-day operations run more efficiently.
Cons
At busier times, the system can be a little slow and that sometimes interrupts the workflow. A few tasks also take several steps to finish so they can feel a bit more time-consuming than they should. The customization options are definitely valuable but getting everything set up at the beginning does require extra time and effort.

Using it feels very easy and building a note is mostly done with just a few clicks. The coding is already included as part of the workflow which makes the whole note-building process simple and efficient.
Cons
it doesn't save properly when more than two people are in the chart at the same time. Also, we can't complete the path log from the chart on a tablet so we have to switch to a desktop or actual computer for that part.

Handling patient charts is incredibly efficient with this system which matters a lot in my dermatology practice. The chart review process especially the visual body feature, makes it simple to assess and compare patient photos from past and current visits without wasting time. That's particularly helpful when I'm away from the office and need quick access to patient information on the spot. The integration with Apple devices is another big plus because it improves how accessible and convenient the software feels day to day. I also really appreciate being able to create stickies for counseling points and recommendations since that helps with both documentation and communication while keeping my workflow organized. On top of that, the phrase feature makes it faster to insert commonly used statements which helps keep chart management efficient.
Cons
Adding attachments can feel more complex than it should and embedding them directly into the chart for consultants is not as seamless as I would want. It would also help a lot if there were a hyperlink option within notes so I could jump directly to related photos or written impressions because the current process adds extra steps to the workflow. Important patient details such as allergies, blood thinner use and other critical information also deserve a more prominent spot in the interface so they are easier to notice right away. The schedule would be clearer too if different visit types were color-coded since that would improve organization. Finding other HISP direct mail users and their addresses is less user-friendly than expected. I'd also like to see support for dot phrases similar to Epic since that would make shorthand note-taking much more efficient. EMA's native phrases feel somewhat limited and not being able to copy or use phrases created by others makes things less efficient than they could be. On top of that, the transition into using the system was harder than necessary because there wasn't enough time with experts and the guidance that had been promised during setup ended up feeling insufficient.

Our providers now spend much less time creating and documenting clinical notes which has made our daily workflow much more efficient. It has also cut down the time the front desk spends indexing faxes and helped reduce scheduling issues so the administrative side feels far more manageable. The MIPS advising feature in EMA has been especially valuable because it has helped our practice report successfully with a positive adjustment which really shows a worthwhile return on the investment. Also, being able to handle MIPS reporting directly from Firm Admin has made our reporting process simpler and less time-consuming overall. Altogether, these features have had a major impact on both our operational efficiency and our financial results.
Cons
There are still a few areas where it could be better especially the orders workflow and the referral management integration. The initial setup was also very involved and took a lot of effort, particularly when it came to building out our clinical and front desk workflows. That part felt like a major project. It also would have helped if the trainers had stronger knowledge of MIPS since that could have made the setup process much easier to get through.

The ongoing, relevant updates in the practice management system are amazing. They've helped a lot with our daily operations by improving workflow, reducing efficiency issues and making operational tasks and reporting much more manageable. For our dermatology practice, it has become a very valuable tool. Klara has also been an excellent integration and adds a lot to the overall experience. A big reason we moved over from NexTech was for better reporting and that decision has definitely paid off. Even though the initial setup was difficult and took some effort, the long-term advantages have far outweighed those early challenges so the transition has absolutely been worth it.
Cons
Getting everything set up at the beginning is definitely challenging. While the system ends up being very beneficial over time, the onboarding process is not simple and can feel intimidating for new users. I also think live chat support could be more available since that would make the overall support experience much better.

I appreciate how the system picks up on the tasks I perform regularly and lets me repeat them which helps me work faster and fits the way I prefer to operate. The documentation-by-exception feature during exams is also helpful because it keeps the focus on findings that are outside the norm, cutting down on repetitive charting and saving time. Another plus is that new staff members can learn it without much difficulty so training takes less time and they can get up to speed quickly. Being able to use it on an iPad is also a real advantage since the added mobility and convenience are useful in my practice.
Cons
That said the overall customer service has been poor. Most of the time, we do not seem to have a dedicated support contact and whenever I bring up an issue, it often feels like the assumption is that I caused it even when I am clearly reporting a bug. The sales process was especially frustrating because we were misled when we signed on for the practice management side. That experience was bad enough that it made me question whether I would ever want to work with this company again. On top of that, the practice management module has been a major letdown. It feels like the technology is about 15 years behind and does not take advantage of what modern systems should be able to do. The setup process was also disappointing since we were promised that all payor data would transfer over and that simply did not happen.

Having EMR, patient engagement and billing all in one place has made a big difference for our dermatology practice. It has helped us organize patient flow, improve overall efficiency and keep the team working within one unified system. We used to rely on separate platforms for different tasks but after fully switching over to ModMed for EMR, billing and scheduling, our operations became much more cohesive. At first, we were only using part of its functionality but once we expanded into the full system, the benefits were clear. Getting everything set up for our practice was also very simple which made the transition even better. I'm extremely happy with it and would absolutely recommend it to others without hesitation.
Cons
The current Klara functionality within the system feels limited especially when it comes to appointment confirmations. We really need more communication options there, including phone calls, voicemail and email so we can reach patients more effectively.

Products don't always match the level of quality they're presented as having. When new features or products come out, they often seem to promise a lot but don't fully deliver in practice. It would be much more useful if there were clearer transparency around the current state of new functionality, including its limitations, rather than acting like everything new is fully polished right away.

Note-taking section still needs work. Working in dermatology, I need software that doesn't slow me down and this has been incredibly convenient from the start. After 19 years in healthcare, I can honestly say it's the simplest program I've had to learn and use and that makes a big difference in my day-to-day workflow. Being able to pick it up quickly saves time and takes a lot of the stress out of dealing with complicated systems. Brandy has also been a huge help whenever billing questions come up which really speaks to the quality of customer support. That mix of an user-friendly interface and dependable assistance has improved our daily operations a lot and helps keep everything running seamlessly. Even the initial setup was very simple which made getting started even more convenient. Overall I'm extremely happy with the service and if I had to rate how strongly I'd recommend it, it would absolutely be a 10 out of 10.
Cons
One thing I'd still like to see improved is the insurance verification process since it doesn't always verify every insurance as thoroughly as it could. It would also be really helpful if the system could automatically refresh whenever new information becomes available from insurance carriers.

It was remarkably easy for both me and my team which made the transition much easier than expected. The layout works well for our daily routine especially being able to move back and forth between the Practice Management and Clinic sides without hassle. The eye log feature is another big advantage since it helps when reviewing previous information and comparing images inside the image management system. Features like these take a lot of the complexity out of managing patient records and help keep the clinic running efficiently. Overall its usability is a major strength and that is why I would confidently recommend it and rate it a 9 out of 10.
Cons
I run pretty often into 504 errors and they interrupt the workflow enough to become frustrating. I also think the communication between the Practice Management side and the office flow side needs to be stronger to make the system function better overall. Although I use it alongside other tools like Phressia, the integration could definitely be improved to create a more connected and seamless experience.

The flow screens and customization options made a noticeable difference in how our clinic operates especially for the doctors. Being able to give each provider templates that match their specialty and set different appointment lengths creates a more personalized setup that helps patient flow run more efficiently. Checking patients in and moving them through the system to the doctor and optical is very organized. It also makes faxing patient clinic reports to primary care physicians quick and simple. On top of that, the initial setup was simple to understand because the instructions were clear which made the transition much easier for my team.
Cons
Tasks are not automatically assigned when faxes come in from outside referrals. I also wish the integration with Phreesia worked better during the check-in process because it does not feel as efficient as it should.

Our practice uses two different EMR systems so we get to see how they both work and compare them. We absolutely love ModMed and wish they offered a Cardiology version so we could switch everything over. Right now we use it for Dermatology and Allergy & Asthma. The practice management side is extremely user-friendly. Since I work on the admin side, I can't speak for the clinical part but our doctors seem to find it easy to use and are happy they bought it.
Cons
Customer support could really use some work. Whenever we have a problem, it's so hard to actually get someone on the phone. Everything has to be done by email which just slows down getting anything fixed.

Got nothing positive to say. I cant stand this program anymore. I was really excited at first by all the promises they made but all the problems just kept piling up. A few bugs got fixed but it feels like the company grew too fast to actually care for its customers. The glitches got worse with time and now every call to tech support is just another false promise. To their credit they are friendly people and act genuinely surprised that my issues have not been resolved yet. They always promise to take it up and get fix everything but nothing ever happens.

This program is nothing but constant glitches. I waste hours every day just trying to avoid issues. After a year of being promised fixes nothing ever changes. Already stuck with it because Ive already invested too much. To make matters worse you have to pay for parts of the software that dont even work. I have tried to stay patient but its just not right. They sold me on a product that doesnt ever deliver. I paid for Dragon Medical in the app for my iPad but the cursor keeps jumping all over the place and I have to stop every few words just to get it back on track. Its been year and a half now and Ive wasted a lot of money on it.

I work a lot in the faxes tab and honestly it could use some better organization. I mainly need to see referrals but once they're linked to a patient chart, they can get lost. It would be so much easier if there were a dedicated referral tab that keeps everything organized while still linking to the patient. Also it would be super helpful if we could preview the fax when creating a task. Sometimes I accidentally task the wrong fax and end up double-checking everything just because I can't preview it. The only way to check is by looking at the fax number, which isn't always ideal.

I love how billing and note-writing are integrated into the system. I can easily see the cost of each CPT code and quickly run financial reports or sort them by various fields. It's also really easy to modify the schedule or add new time blocks, making everything a lot less stressful.
Cons
A few issues I've noticed: 1) There's not enough follow-up on billing. 2) Scrolling in the OCTs in image management is backwards and not intuitive. 3) Updates take forever; I was told the OCT scrolling issue would take 2-3 years to fix. 4) You can't change the "sticky" fields and some important ones like saving faxes to the patient's chart are now un-sticky, which is a pain.

It would be great if I could enter more info, like nicknames, right on the scheduling screen.
