Next Gen Office Review
Pros

I find NextGen Office to be a very useful platform for managing patient information, thanks to its templates and customizable options.

Cons

New software updates can be challenging for me because they often erase previously customized features which requires me to set them up again. medical staff and providers need to be retrained to become familiar with the new features and options.

Next Gen is a usable yet imperfect
Pros

The integration between our practice manager (scheduling) and EMR (records) software is fantastic. Also I love how I can carry forward and save smart phrases to speed up my note writing process.

Cons

Personally, I find completing the exercise log to be a boring and time consuming task as it takes longer compared to other sections of notes. Additionally, some sections of evaluations are not intuitive which makes it challenging to locate certain information.

NextGen Review
Pros

Although not all insurances that our doctors are in-network with are in NextGen, still I like the ease of checking eligibility and benefits. I believe NextGen can improve by adding more insurance options.

Cons

Initially, I hated it because it felt too old-school for my taste. The visual appearance gave it an outdated and somewhat boring feel. However with time, I got the hang of it. I also noticed that it's slower compared to other EMRs out there.

Incompetence with revenue cycle team and poorly built EMR
Pros

NextGen is quite affordable, although it's important to keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

Cons

The billing side (revenue cycle) has made multiple recurrent mistakes and communication is very poor. There are multiple teams handling your account, but unfortunately they don't communicate with each other which results in frequent mistakes and constant oversight from the user.

Pros

A notable strength is the ease of completing patient notes during examinations.

Worst RCM and Customer Service
Pros

Unfortunately, I didn't like NextGen. We switched from server-based NexGen to MediTouch/Healthfusion in 2013, and later NextGen acquired the company.

Cons

In general, the software works fine. However, I have an issue with the companys practice of forcing customers into yearly auto-renew contracts. Even when we tried to cancel the RCM company a month before the service was set to renew (even though the Go Live date was two months after notification), they gave excuses to avoid cancellation. First, they claimed we didn't cancel. Then, they said we didn't cancel with Clinic Anywhere. Later, they insisted that the balance needed to be up to date before they would cancel. Its worth mentioning that we were losing money due to their poor collections and lack of billing knowledge. I won't go into the specific billing issues here, but any experienced biller would know what they were doing wrong. This is a consequence of overseas outsourcing. After 10 years, we decided to walk away from the company due to their unreasonable negotiation regarding dropping the RCM portion of the contract.

Comprehensive Practice Management with Minor Flaws
Pros

NextGen Office software offers us a comprehensive suite of customizable features, including appointment scheduling, billing, and revenue cycle management. It ensures consistent and efficient practice management, streamlining check-in, billing, collections, and AR processes. The smooth transition between Practice Management and EHR enhances usability and convenience.

Cons

Over time, I have noticed NextGen Offices EHR becoming increasingly disorganized, lacking crucial bug fixes, and ignoring user-requested improvements. It would benefit from streamlined features such as automated filtering for unpaid claims and simplified claim attachment and review processes. Additionally, the systems layout design with excessive tabs, scrolling, and button-clicking is inefficient and doesnt optimize screen space.

Pros

NextGen is hands down the easiest EHR provider to use. It provides user-friendly and the best experience. What I really like is the ability to set access and abilities for each user based on their specific role and responsibilities.

Cons

As much as I love the clipboard feature that allows for easy drag and drop of appointments, I wish the system would display the original appointment in the patient chart, indicating that it was moved. It happens occasionally, but not consistently, and it would be helpful to have that note. The patient portal and documents definitely need improvement as they don't always function to their full capability.
