“Claims reporting powerhouse”
Pros
One of the biggest strengths for us has been the reporting and the range of functionality it includes. The report center is especially powerful across all of our practices which makes it very useful. It's also really valuable to be able to submit claims, track them and auto-post payments all in one system. We rely a lot on the patient ledger and payment history to keep track of balances and that has been very helpful. I also appreciated how well they guided us through the process because the initial setup was much easier with that step-by-step support.
Cons
A few parts on the back end are still a bit tough especially some of the settings and the provider or practice setup. The Admin tab can feel overwhelming at first and it takes extra training to really understand where to begin. ERA enrollments have also changed over time which can make that area a little more confusing now and then. They use Waystar and once the training is in place it works well but there is definitely a learning curve.

“Practice management done right”
Pros
The biggest advantage of NGO is how well the EMR and Practice Management systems work together. It's also very user-friendly so getting started doesn't take a lot of training.
Cons
Not a con but a bit confusing since there's more than one way to complete the same task. I'd also appreciate more flexibility when it comes to customizing certain forms.

“Integration with downtime”
Pros
It is fairly easy to use. It has been effective in keeping both offices working within the same platform which helps us function as a fully integrated care model.
Cons
Biggest frustration has been the updates and system crashes especially since fixes do not come quickly. At this price, we expected it to perform more reliably. Support has been helpful overall but when the system goes down, no one seems to have clear answers or an immediate solution. We also gave the AI features a try but my providers felt they were not a good fit so we ended up discontinuing that service.

“Innovative AI platform”
Pros
Right away, the biggest strength has been how forward-thinking this system feels especially with its AI features. Ambient Assist has been a real game changer for us making workflows more efficient while also improving the overall user experience. I also really value the annual User Group Meeting because it gives useful insight and a meaningful chance to learn what's coming next and where the platform is headed. Another major plus is how naturally new features can be added into our practice, from interface connections to reporting tools.
Cons
One drawback is definitely the price since it can be quite costly. On top of that some providers in our practice have mentioned that it is not as user-friendly as other EHR systems they previously used in their private practices.

“Workflow and reporting boost”
Pros
Over the past few years, this system has done a much better job supporting FQHCs like ours. The NG8 upgrade felt far more user-friendly and much less disruptive which helped speed up workflows for both providers and front desk staff. Having everything integrated has made a real difference in lowering accounts receivable, simplifying payment processing and making reporting more accurate, all of which matters a lot for compliance and quality oversight. The upgrade support team has also been very dependable and the flexibility to tailor reports for our risk management and quality programs has been extremely valuable.
Cons
A few years back, support and overall system consistency were frustrating enough that we seriously looked at other options. Earlier upgrades especially NG6, were difficult and brought a lot of stress. Even now, upgrades are never completely effortless and there is usually some level of disruption involved although it has definitely improved. We also still run into challenges getting our patient population to use digital tools beyond paper statements and rolling out new features can sometimes take longer than expected.

“Customizable according to your needs”
Pros
One of the biggest advantages is how customizable it is. It works especially well for practices that want a lot of control and flexibility since templates, workflows and reports can all be adjusted to match specific needs.
Cons
There is definitely a learning curve though. New users can feel pretty overwhelmed in the beginning and it is not very beginner-friendly. It takes time to train staff and really understand how the workflows are set up.

“Mobile app with issues”
Pros
Having the mobile app has been really useful because I can quickly look things up when I'm away from the office or not near a computer and that saves me a lot of time. I also really appreciate their AI tool, Ambient since it helps with charting, cuts down the time spent on documentation and creates a detailed SOAP note.
Cons
The system itself feels pretty awkward. I have to close one document just to open another so it could definitely be more efficient. The initial setup was awful and every upgrade has come with a long list of issues that can take days or even weeks before everything is working efficiently again. On top of that, the system goes down regularly which forces me to log back in each time and that can take up to five minutes every single time.

“slow reporting function”
Pros
Medical note connected to a claim is linked right inside the claim itself which makes that specific note quick to pull up and review. The area for adding notes to an individual claim also does its job well.
Cons
reporting tools are a big frustration. Reports take far too long to load and the functionality feels very limited. Posting takebacks is also difficult and the balance ends up sitting under the wrong insurance responsibility. On top of that, the whole process for sending and reviewing claims feels overly tedious.

“My go to tool!”
Pros
I can set up this system to work exactly how we want. We can change the templates and workflows to fit our needs perfectly and it plays nice with all our other software. The reports are really powerful and the tools for keeping patients involved are a huge plus for us.
Cons
The interface feels a bit old-fashioned sometimes and it can be confusing when you're new. For some tasks, it takes more clicks than it should and could be a lot simpler.

“Simple EHR onboarding”
Pros
One thing that has noticeably gotten better is NexGen support, you get quick, helpful responses when something comes up. The EHR side is also easy to train new users on which has been a real benefit. We are not using the PM side yet but we are currently in the testing phase to start using it at MSA.
Cons
The patient portal is still difficult for patients to navigate and it has been challenging to get everyone enrolled which would help reduce the amount of phone usage.

“Smart portal alerts”
Pros
The patient portal is very user-friendly and gives patients convenient access to their records, refill requests and direct messaging with providers. It also includes reminders, drug interaction warnings and care gap alerts which really help support better care and lower the chance of mistakes.
Cons
Response times can be slow, support availability feels limited and some problems don't get resolved. Certain tasks also take far too many clicks when they should be much simpler and updates occasionally bring in bugs or interfere with features that were working fine before.
