“User-friendly EMR

Pros

I find Praxis very user-friendly and it brings together all the EMR elements including appointment scheduling, patient demographics, medical records, consult notes, lab results, electronic prescriptions, medication lists and more in a smooth way. Because our installation runs on a network, multiple staff can access the patient database at the same time and see updates in real time. Plus, I can query the data for practice-level statistics and to meet regulatory reporting requirements.

Cons

When we began using it back in 1999, it had its share of hurdles because EMR systems were still quite new. However, over the years Praxis has adapted and matured, continually incorporating the updates needed to keep it functional and up to date.

“adapts to my workflow

Pros

Using it has totally changed how I work. I can chart rapidly, with efficiency and accuracy. Finishing and closing charts is now effortless compared to before. It also keeps my approach steady across the entire patient visit and helps me recall prior actions for patients presenting with similar issues which makes my documentation far more consistent.

Cons

I don't really have any strong negatives to point out. Like any EMR, there is a learning curve that takes some time and patience. What sets Praxis apart in my experience is that while I'm getting used to its workflow it simultaneously adapts to how I work. After I finish a new chart, the system absorbs the details I've entered so that when a similar case appears later, much of the previous documentation and structure is immediately available to help me speed through the next patient's notes.

“Accessible support

Pros

The support staff is very easy to reach and they reply quickly. The software feels user-friendly and I can adjust it well to individual patients.

Cons

For the most part I have no real complaints about it. Occasionally the prescription process hangs up and I can't prescribe the same medication twice with different dose strengths at the same time which can be frustrating during busy sessions.

“Learns practice patterns along the way!!

Pros

I love how it has learned my practice patterns and adjusts to the way I work which makes charting progressively faster, more accurate and simpler over time. These days I unquestionably spend a lot less time clicking through screens and writing notes and I can dedicate more of that time to patients. Overall, this EHR has made my daily documentation better and cut down on everyday frustration.

Cons

After spending many years in clinical practice and trying several different EHR systems, I've found that Praxis has performed quite well overall. I'm eager to see the next release and hopeful the upcoming version will build on its strengths while addressing remaining issues.

“Helped me grow over the years

Pros

After being a solo practitioner using it for 22 years, I can say it played a key role in allowing my practice to thrive and expand over time. The system's design is excellent. It continually learns from every new case and genuinely makes me feel like there's a colleague sitting beside me offering support. I've found it offers tremendous value for the money, backed by customer support that was dependable and quick to respond whenever I needed assistance. The platform makes it simple to keep up-to-date records of all interactions between me and my patients and between patients and office staff while maintaining solid security for medical records. One feature I particularly appreciate is that Praxis gives me added minutes in visits. It organizes charting so I can actually spend more time talking with and connecting to the patient instead of being buried in documentation.

Cons

I genuinely believe it has a very promising future. In my view, adaptive, learning software represents the direction healthcare IT should take and I've watched it continually develop and refine those learning capabilities.

“Timesaving solution

Pros

As a physician, I appreciate that Praxis is built around the way doctors actually think and practice. The system is fast, dependable and molds itself to my habits rather than forcing me to change. I can chart from anywhere with full access and solid performance which saves me time and removes much of the everyday charting frustration.

Cons

No complaints here. I've found it to be a highly capable platform that requires upfront personalization and after I teach it my documentation style, it accelerates dramatically. It becomes exceptionally quick and efficient and keeps improving the more I use it, adapting to my preferences over time.

Pros

I pick and save my own words and sentence templates for each disease management plan which makes documentation feel genuinely mine. For chronic conditions like stable hypertension, the assessments are already written in my voice. They show up in the chart as unactivated items that I can enable with a single click and the SOAP note is generated as completed. Adding updates is simple. It's fast and efficient in practice. I can paste an AI-generated note from another program into it without fuss and I also have the option to dictate directly into the system. I can schedule a future patient reminder and set the exact date to send it. The overall layout of the software is user-friendly yet it offers layered advanced features for power users who might be analyzing patient outcomes or doing research. They push out incremental updates every few months which keeps things fresh without being disruptive. Training was one of the highlights for me as it felt personal and thorough. Each of my staff members received individual screen-share training with multiple sessions as needed. My own provider training took longer simply because I wanted to go at my own pace. What I appreciate most about it is that they focus solely on being an EMR rather than being a bundled practice-management system with a mediocre EMR tacked on. Too often, office managers and large groups pick those big-name bundled programs that have a solid PMS but leave physicians hating the EMR. That dysfunctional EMR ends up sidelining doctors and many clinicians don't even realize how much it affects their workflow. I opted for the best EMR for my needs and then connected it to the PMS my office manager preferred. That combination worked perfectly for us. I'm genuinely happy with that choice and I feel for colleagues who are stuck using other EMRs all day and then have to bring the work home to finish notes during family time.

Cons

I ran into a mission-critical problem when I needed it to communicate with a separate brand of practice management software that was new to their team. Building that integration from scratch took their programmers about a month but they created a module that was developed from the ground up to handle this specific case. The result is an integration approach designed so that future practices can connect to virtually any practice management system within minutes. Throughout the process, they gave me direct access to the lead software support person by phone, who was reachable day and night. Praxis worked through the technical issues hand-in-hand with the other company's support team until everything was resolved. Given what they delivered, their new integration solution will make hooking up your EMR to your practice management software remarkably simple.

“Customizable according to my needs

Pros

What I appreciate most is how customizable it is to my personal workflow. You have two options, either force your charting style to fit the EMR or have the EMR adapt to how you naturally document. It actually lets me shape the system around my own charting habits and that flexibility has been incredible.

Cons

I wish I'd known about it earlier because had someone told me sooner, I could have saved myself a huge amount of charting time. Learning about Praxis at this point means I realize how much time was unnecessarily spent before and I would have gladly picked it up earlier to avoid all that extra work.

“Flexibility stands out

Pros

Flexibility is a major plus. It lets a clinic configure the system to handle many different tasks. I also value its advanced SQL features which let me run queries against my custom data so I can generate reports that improve patient care and services.

Cons

Satisfied with it! I can choose to deploy it on bare-metal hardware, run it virtualized or have it hosted in the cloud.

“Built by experts

Pros

The standout feature for me is how user-friendly it is and that I can edit and update templates on the fly while I'm using the software. Often I learn a new tip and am able to incorporate it into my template that same afternoon. As a clinician, I really notice it was built by someone in practice rather than solely an IT group.

Cons

Honestly, Praxis feels miles smarter than I am at times. I wish every surgical center I work with used it so my workflow could be consistent across sites.

Getting the templates set up does take a bit of time but after I've finished them it's absolutely worth the effort and time.

“Picks up your style

Pros

After years of wrestling with click-heavy EHRs that felt more like data-entry machines than clinical tools, I finally found this and it genuinely transformed how I work. The other systems I used forced me into endless clicking, drop-down menus and awkward templates that had little to do with actual patient care. It is the polar opposite. It really feels designed by physicians for physicians. I can write in the same way I think and the platform picks up my style. Over time each note becomes quicker, noticeably more personalized and far more meaningful. Instead of forcing me to fit into someone else's process, it adjusts to the way I practice. It's made me quicker, more thorough in my documentation and most importantly, more connected to the patients I see.

Cons

I had to prime the system at the start because the AI needs time to learn my patterns and that approach is quite different from the template-driven systems I was used to. Getting it trained required some upfront effort and patience on my part which might frustrate anyone expecting a plug-and-play experience. That said, after investing the initial time and teaching it my style, the payoff has been huge. I wouldn't go back now as it runs much faster and smarter than the other EHRs I've used and the initial setup feels entirely worth it.

“Works well for us

Pros

Works perfectly for me. Unlike the other EMRs where I had to change how I take notes or alter my personal preferences for documentation, this one lets me keep my style. I highly recommend it for physicians with busy schedules.

Cons

I've been using it for 13 years and have experienced the various upgrades and enhancements over time. We recently migrated from our on-premises server to the Cloud and I've noticed many improvements since the move.

“simple to get the hang of

Pros

I'm impressed by how user-friendly the system is. I quickly got the hang of it during onboarding and found it simple to contact support about training.

Cons

A missing fax feature is frustrating but otherwise I haven't found major flaws. However, the 'save as knowledge' feature took me a while to get comfortable with.

Pros

Its amazing how simple it is to learn and put into practice. It's opened up an entirely new level of creativity for our team, allowing us to build more efficient and capable care for our patients. The speed and simplicity of implementing clinical pathways has truly changed the way our practice operates and feels like a real game changer.

So far I haven't experienced any issues that their training and support team couldn't promptly address and resolve. Whenever something has come up they've been responsive and taken care of it.

“Provides great value

Pros

For the subscription fee, I think this is excellent value. The EMR/EHR fit easily into my medical gynecology workflow now that I'm a solo practitioner in integrative medicine.

Cons

I don't have any complaints. The AI-driven platform learned my way of practicing and adjusted to it. I noticed it became progressively smarter the more I used it and getting everything set up was far simpler than the bulky BOX template systems I see elsewhere.

“Valuable one-on-one training

Pros

It was valuable to get one-on-one training giving the practical, hands-on guidance we needed to get the system down. The clinical support crew has been outstanding consistently responsive and willing to listen to suggestions for future updates. Now that I'm confident using it, my charting is much faster and more efficient saving me a lot of time compared with our previous EMR.

Extremely satisfied and honestly have no negative feedback to share.

“Impressive MIPS functionality

Pros

I'm blown away by Praxis' MIPS capabilities. I just completed my submission and it was so simple. It intelligently determines which measures are relevant to my patients and which are not. I received full credit with a single click when I accepted the measures into the record. With the EMRs I used before, I would get dinged if I forgot to handle MIPS but that's not even possible with this one. It saved me a massive headache and is effectively putting money back into my pocket!

Cons

Getting up to speed with the software and building a knowledge base required some time on my part but the Trainers were very helpful. After about the first week or so it finally clicked for me and I haven't looked back since.

I'd say its very quick and makes writing really good notes way easier than before.

I really regret not having switched over to it years ago.
