best for insurance but reports are weak

Pros

I find it really interactive, with a simple layout, dependable telehealth and billing features, plus helpful automation that speeds up workflows and it's genuinely a time-saver that reduces administrative tasks.

Cons

In my experience, it can feel limited around customization and reporting and it lacks full API integrations. Occasionally it's unstable or some client-portal features are missing and support is mostly handled via email or chat.

easy to use but has limits

Pros

As a clinician, I found this EMR much more affordable than many alternatives. I could easily schedule appointments and use the patient portal and real customer support helped whenever I had questions.

Cons

Early in my practice I struggled with building templates and I couldn't set up temporary accounts for students who needed supervised access during their graduate training.

Good price but lacks full support

Pros

im impressed by how easy it is to use. It gives me everything I require as a medical provider: templates I can tailor, the option to enter multiple codes, integrated billing, analytics, secure messaging and questionnaires that I can schedule to send to patients before each appointment.

Cons

However, the cost has risen over time which I partially accept since new capabilities have been added, still, as a solo practitioner I find that most of the extra features they keep introducing are unnecessary for my practice.

Fairly priced

Pros

It's an affordable EHR with built in templates and it includes e prescribing. There are also sign on discounts available which is a nice bonus.

Cons

Usability really falls short unless you're working specifically as a mental health provider. The templates are heavily geared toward mental health so setting up something outside that like building a Primary Care template can be very time consuming. The e scribe feature is useful but it still feels dated and requires too many steps to electronically send prescriptions.

so convenient

Pros

I really appreciate how flexible it is for running almost every part of my private practice from a single platform. Being able to submit insurance claims, track claim status and have patients make payments right inside the app has been genuinely helpful.

Cons

The pricing is honestly a dealbreaker. I've already started switching to a different EHR because the cost keeps rising within the time I've used it (under a year), it's gone up twice. Also, once you hit certain thresholds you're charged per claim which makes the monthly bill climb quickly and adds up fast.

Useful tools but too pricey

Pros

I really appreciate how flexible the system is and it lets me handle nearly every part of my private practice's workload from a single app. Being able to file claims, track the status of those claims and let patients pay directly through the platform has been terrific for keeping things aligned.

Cons

the cost is what would make me walk away. I'm currently moving to another EHR because the price keeps creeping up so frequently. I've had this one for less than a year and already seen two separate price hikes. On top of that, charging per claim after all the increases has driven my monthly bill way higher. Altogether, it just adds up to more than I can justify.

great value with solid tools

Pros

When someone asks what I like most about SimplePractice, I usually point to how it really acts like a one stop shop for managing appointments. It also feels like one of the better options for the money since everything is included in a single place rather than piecing tools together. Since I was a new practice owner, I especially appreciated being able to build a professional website right from the platform, plus having access to professional learning resources and the helpful guidance they provide. The software keeps adding new tools aimed at streamlining day to day operations which has made it easier to keep my practice running efficiently.

Cons

What I'm still adjusting to is relying on the chatbot for tech support. The responses have been accurate but I'm not used to working through a chatbot yet. When I did reach a real team member once though, the support was handled professionally and they resolved my referral issue without any hassle.

Cost keeps going up too fast

Pros

When someone asks me what I appreciate most about it, I usually point to how it serves as a true one-stop shop for managing appointments, which makes running my day-to-day much simpler and offers excellent value for the cost. As a brand-new practice owner, it also allowed me to set up a polished website and gave me access to formal training resources about the platform, plus a growing set of impressive tools they're continually introducing to help me organize and streamline my practice even further.

Cons

I have to admit what bugs me the most is having to get used to a chatbot for technical support, while the bot has generally been accurate and helpful, adapting to that automated route has been a bit of an adjustment. When I did need to speak directly with a staff member, though, they were courteous and professional and resolved my referral problem quickly and without any issue which reassured me that human support is available if the bot can't fully address an issue.

hard to use for family doctors

Pros

As a clinician, I find the Wiley Treatment Planner really helps me integrate evidence-based goals and interventions into my practice.

Cons

I do think the price is somewhat high, especially since many other platforms offer comparable features such as templated notes and built-in scheduling.

too simple for a real office

Pros

I liked how it was aligned and interactive, which made keeping notes and applying updates simple and hassle-free.

Cons

Although it generally fulfilled my requirements, I struggled with the fact that the fees were higher than many alternatives and the price seemed to increase fairly often which was frustrating.

good to look at only

Pros

I was really drawn to how it looked and honestly that's practically the only thing I liked about it. The cost was pretty much in line with what other options were charging.

Cons

The customer support was really lacking. I couldn't tailor it to my own specific needs either. Using it felt more complicated than it should have been. I wouldn't suggest this product to others.

great for therapy notes

Pros

We use it for our outpatient clients. It's really easy to use and to finish therapy notes. The customer support team responds to tickets promptly.

Cons

I'd like an option to apply payments like grant funds, directly to a client's account when they're on a financial assistance plan automatically.

Worst support ever!

Pros

Honestly, there was virtually nothing about this platform that I liked. At first I assumed the interface looked more user-friendly but once I began using it, it became obvious that it wasn't interactive at all.

Cons

I've tried contacting SimplePractice support multiple times without any success. I had a session set for 10:30 AM and nobody joined, and I haven't heard a single update from them. For a service that clinicians depend on to manage their practices, this lack of communication is completely unacceptable.

navigation is amazing

Pros

Navigation feels pretty simple and it's simple to figure out what each option is for as you move through the program. Everything is laid out in a way that makes locating features less frustrating.

Cons

I didn't enjoy how often updates are required and the bugs that show up when sending messages or prescriptions can seriously disrupt the workflow.

Easy & helpful, but costly

Pros

the interface is very interactive and setting up appointments felt simple. I also appreciated being able to send notifications directly to my clients.

Cons

For small practices it felt fairly pricey and I ran into occasional bugs that were irritating, though they did get resolved in time.

it works but keeps costing more

Pros

I find the user interface and third-party integrations really well done. It's easy to use, links up with my Google Calendar and even allows me to schedule video sessions.

Cons

Over the years I've observed their pricing steadily rise and the calendar syncing feature I was most eager for is unfortunately gated behind the more expensive subscription plan.

perfect for private practice

Pros

It is incredibly user-friendly and great for taking notes and communicating with clients, it really helped me launch my private practice smoothly, provides every necessary form and even handles my billing. I consider it an excellent product.

Cons

I do find that sometimes it takes a while to reach a real person when I need help, I'm a bit old-fashioned and prefer speaking live with someone face-to-face or on the phone when I'm stuck.

Cheap but support is awful

Pros

I'd say it's relatively simple to use and reasonably inexpensive for a sole practitioner, to be honest, that's basically the only positive point I can offer about it.

Cons

Their customer support was awful for me. I spent time chatting with automated bots that repeatedly failed to understand my questions, and when I finally got transferred to a specialist they claimed the issue had been resolved even though it clearly wasn't. It was almost impossible to reach a real person by phone unless you pay extra for premium support, which feels like a paywall for basic help. After three hours of back-and-forth the problem remained unsolved and I never received the promised callback.

simple and clear scheduling

Pros

I am really pleased with how simple scheduling an appointment is. When I pick a day it shows every available time slot I can pick from, which makes choosing simple. The whole process moves quickly and feels easy so it never gets overwhelming. I also appreciate being able to see all my scheduled appointments and every invoice I've paid or still need to pay.

Cons

Occasionally I have trouble signing in with my Gmail account, instead of logging me in when I click it, the button opens an email draft to send.

unified cloud tools for teams

Pros

It's basically a single cloud platform that brings a bunch of useful tools together in one place. Being able to create and schedule clients, plus keep their notes hosted inside the same system, has been really important for our workflow. It also handles working across different devices without much hassle and it keeps everything organized so it's easier to stay on top of tasks.

Cons

We did run into a few hiccups when transferring client data over to a new instance from an existing one.
