“User-friendly with outstanding support”
Pros
The interface is very user-friendly and the customer support has been outstanding.
Cons
With one of my doctors, I keep running into a glitch whenever I am creating a new face. A pop-up flags Medicare or any insurer that includes Medicare in its name saying the insurance isn't valid. When I then verify eligibility in the tool, it shows the coverage is valid but the error still appears. This problem happens about 75% of the time.

“excellent solution for billing and scheduling”
Pros
I have found Kareo to be an excellent solution as it handles scheduling, payment posting, charge entry and reviewing outstanding accounts receivable really well. Training staff on the system was simple and switching over from our old setup went off without a hitch.
Cons
My only real complaint is that bulk adjustments on a patient account are hard. for example, when referring a patient to collections you currently have to adjust each line item individually. I think this could be solved by adding a specific user permission so the administrator and perhaps one designated staff member could perform that bulk adjustment function to save considerable time.

“Incredibly easy and fast to use”
Pros
it is incredibly easy to use, fast and the customer service is very helpful.
Cons
On the downside, what I need is a report with far fewer details like just the patient's name, DOS, total charge and total paid without showing each CPT line or every adjustment.

“Wastes significant time”
Pros
I generally find the front-desk team appreciates how the system operates. Customer support will listen when I raise issues, though they don't actually have the power to change much. I also value the ability to verify patients' medications with pharmacies through the platform.
Cons
For me, the system feels clunky and inflexible and it wastes a significant amount of my team's time since we cannot edit or remove templates from their primary care building blocks. Customer service is friendly but when I request changes to make workflows more efficient they only mark the suggestions as 'submitted' and nothing ever gets implemented.

“Simple implementation and natural navigation”
Pros
Our practice started using this platform for billing nearly two years ago. It was simple to implement and integrates smoothly with our EMR, Practice Fusion. As the person responsible for billing, I access this program every day. I find it highly practical, natural to navigate and it lets me retrieve all needed information quickly and efficiently.
Cons
The setup and integration went really smoothly for us. I do have a couple of feature requests I'd love to see added. First, it would be helpful to view the actual dates associated with a patient's unapplied balances so I don't have to open a settled DOS and click into 'Apply Payment' just to check the date for reference. Second, being able to add notes directly inside the insurance aging for each delinquent claim would be incredibly useful because when we pull up the aging report we could immediately tell whether a claim has already been worked on and what steps or progress have been made toward getting it paid. Beyond those two improvements, I genuinely adore this software.

“Simple scheduler and reliable billing”
Pros
I have been using Kareo since 2012 and found it really simple. The scheduler is natural and simple to navigate. I also handle billing through the platform. I appreciate that it automatically generates the statements ready to send and even prepares secondary claims that Medicare occasionally fails to forward. Overall it's been a reliable, easy-to-use solution for scheduling and billing in my practice.
Cons
From my experience, patients have complained that the appointment reminder calls are hard to understand and often lack clear details about which doctor the appointment is with which can be confusing for them.

“Outstanding service and effective training”
Pros
I have found the customer service to be outstanding and Kareo University really helped me learn how to use the software effectively.
Cons
For my part, I haven't used the program enough yet to point out any concrete drawbacks or real cons.

“easy to move around and keeps organized”
Pros
Over the past year and a bit I have been using Kareo EHR and have found it very easy to move around. I like that it's tied into the Practice Management side for billing, accounting and reports which helps keep my work much more organized. It also links with the lab I use so lab results appear right in the patients' charts. The chart layout makes it simple to pull up whatever section I need to review such as history, accounting, demographics and so on. Applying payments is simple and the eRAs are simple to navigate and post payments
Cons
In my experience the practice software does have a few glitches that force us to call support to get things fixed. Setting up new insurance information takes more time than I'd prefer. every now and then we face duplicate billing which adds extra administrative issue.

“Billing side is absolutely terrible”
Pros
I find the clinical interface pretty nice. Plus it is easy to move around, visually appealing and I like that it includes handy shortcuts and note templates, plus a useful scheduling tool.
Cons
the billing side is absolutely brutal. Before committing, I strongly suggest checking in with our billers because their reputation in the billing community is terrible. We hit numerous roadblocks that disrupted our revenue cycle and I wish we'd learned earlier. During setup we ran into inadequate customer support, then ongoing issues with their clearinghouse and we had no choice but to use it which led to months of rejections and denials. My billers were practically ready to quit because managing claims became such a headache. eventually we migrated to a different system and the billing problems disappeared almost overnight. Based on my experience, this software's billing functionality and customer service are seriously lacking. I cannot recommend moving forward without a frank conversation with your billing team first.

“User-friendly for adding and editing”
Pros
I really like how user-friendly it is as I can easily add, edit and move information between sections without much fuss.
Cons
That said, I am frustrated that some of the reports I need simply aren't available and I cannot transfer data from one case to another.

“Natural and exceptionally simple to learn”
Pros
what stands out most about Kareo to me is how natural it feels. I picked it up quickly and found it exceptionally simple to learn.
Cons
I find the refund workflow far too slow and confusing when dealing with insurance or patient refunds. to me, it should just be a simple debit to a credit entry within the adjustment field.

“easy setup and insurance connection”
Pros
It's very easy to set up patients, manage billing and have the system connect with insurance companies.
Cons
I haven't used the medical records functionality or any of the extra services because they're outside our budget. For the features I do use, I am satisfied and don't have any complaints. The price didn't change last year, although there was about a 5% increase each year from 2013 through 2019. Were it not for having an office manager, I would likely opt in to add-ons like appointment reminders and electronic medical records. In comparison, Kareo seems to be more readily tailored to a medical practice than mine.

“User-friendly and pay for what we use”
Pros
I find the software very user friendly and I like all the features available that I only pay for if I actually use them. As a small business, we are constantly trying to boost efficiency and cut costs so this helps us do both.
Cons
My biggest frustration is with eRA posting. It feels like that part hasn't changed since we started over ten years ago and if it has, nobody told me. Right now I am forced to handle each date of service one by one instead of being able to review and auto-post them. I'd even be open to configuring default choices to speed up posting. I also wish there were a help tool for rejection error messages that would suggest likely causes and fixes because the current error wording is often really cryptic.

“excellent for patient connection”
Pros
For me, it's an excellent method to connect with patients, tidy up outdated sites and improve reviews.
Cons
I find the price a bit tough to justify, although the outcomes really do prove their value. My experience rep's calls feel more like upsell attempts to push extra features which seems misleading to me. That rep should focus solely on how the software is working for my practice and having a separate sales rep would actually be useful.

“Listens to our suggestions and refines”
Pros
We have noticed that whenever we offer suggestions and corrections, the team listens, thoughtfully evaluates them and uses that feedback to expand and refine the platform. They're really open and receptive to ideas about what works for our practice.
Cons
It's a bit slower than our former desktop program since it's cloud-based but that's the trade-off we expected and wanted in order to manage all three of our practices.

“Overpromised and underdelivered website”
Pros
honestly there isn't much I can praise here. I do appreciate the call tracking feature, though that's pretty standard. I have had similar tracking in other services I have used and what bothers me is that when a lead comes through a phone call, I cannot add notes to it.
Cons
I don't even know where to begin. I was told one thing and they OVeRPROMISeD and then UNDeRDeLIVeReD. The website development felt like a basic DIY builder like more plug-and-play than professional. The people I spoke with often seemed unfamiliar with even the simplest website concepts and just passed messages along which made the whole process awful. In the end I ended up building more than 90% of my site myself because PatientPop couldn't get it right. I paid in August and my site still isn't finished. Worse, within two weeks of PatientPop going live I lost my top organic search rankings. I have been in business six years and used to dominate SeO in my market before PatientPop so this was a huge setback.

“Fantastic and user-friendly interface”
Pros
The interface is fantastic and really user friendly. They included video tutorials that helped me learn the system and I was assigned a success coach who supported me throughout the onboarding.
Cons
I thought the fees for transferring data were way too high they wanted us to pay at least $1,200 just to move our demographic records.
